Toys R Us is alerting customers that they will have "more Wii in-store than ever before" this Sunday, SUNDAY, SUNDAY!!! They also plan to have bucket loads of the current best reason to buy a Wii: Mario Kart Wii. Both can be pre-ordered, which I would assume would guarantee you copies, though I bet I'm assuming wrong.
The big ad push for the Wii comes hours after we first broke the news that Nintendo would be upping production of their tiny, white console. Wow, that was fast!

There is a typo on the post, the R is not backwards.
I like how they took the box art from the game and grafted it onto a novelty-size DVD case.
This sucks for people who live in bergen county of new jersey all non neccessity/clothes/electronic/ect stores are closed on sundays. This due to some dumb rule....
At the location I work for we have about 80 or so units to go out on Sunday. We usually only have about 30 to 40 at a time. So if you have a larger store in your area it's likely they'll have around 100 or more.
@SuppleMonkey: Is there not a DVD case in the box?
i hope someone brings a mop to clean up all that wii!
okay, it is cheesy, and a very outdated joke, but i went there. deal with it
FYI best buy will have over 50 at most stores this sunday as well today they had 10 out.
@Spartan1308: the one in the pic is short and fat is all, and looks funny
Bah. I knew they were stockpiling them. Stupid stores, creating even more artificial demand by holding back what few Wii's are available.
@liquid_kore: Way too much effort for something pointless. Plus, I think the "R" is forward in all official documents for legal reasons.
Is Mario Kart Wii suppose to be coming out this sunday or tuesday? I've seen dates and pre-order listings for both.
Yeah, nobody seems to be buying the system preorders in my area, maybe its a lack of advertisement. They put them on these ridiculous "golden tickets." Like putting 200 bucks down for a wii is somehow akin to going through a magic candy factory. Oh, toys r us.
@HawaiianActor: Wii jokes will outlast the Wii itself.
I have had an undying hatred for Toys R' Us after waiting outside of our local store, in the snow, from midnight to 8:00AM to get my niece a Wii this past Christmas. Haha.
Okay, I guess my hatred is a little unfounded, since everyone was pretty nice and I met up with some cool folks with a space heater and battery powered coffee pot.
I'm sure people will still say they can't find one. Good on Nintendo for increased production of Wiis.
Heh, Wii is open to penis jokes... Too bad I can't come up with any decent ones... Then again, if there's a Wii involved I wouldn't say it's decent!... No, still sucks... Well if we're talking gamer stereotypes, Toys R Us will be full of Wiis! It would be a regular Wii-fest! Dammit. I can't get my mind far enough in the gutter to make a decent pun. Is this maturity? If so, it sucks.
HAHAHA! I foresaw this. As a person who works at toys r us, I'm GLAD I requested this day off weeks ago.
I swear...everytime I see MKwii I don't actually see a game. It just screams:
"BUY THIS WHEEL!...oh and here have a tech demo for your time."
@Renay:
You and me both, brother!
Wait, so is Wii the plural of Wii, or is it Wii's?
I'm so confused now
:-P
So the plural of "Wii" is "Wii" and not "Wiis?" Is this official or just how Toys R Us decided to write it?
W00t. Another person from Bergen County.
I would go out and try and get a Wii, but I have a feeling that Nintendo will release new colored Wii's this year and will announce it at E3.
@HawaiianActor: Yep, that's what I meant. No normal DVD case has those dimensions.
@Spartan1308: You got me thinking, though. I suppose it could come in a cardboard sleeve (like Wii Sports), but in one of the Mario Kart unboxing photo sets, I caught a glimpse of what looked to be a true DVD case.
Boo boycott toy r us and other stores for doing this. these wii should have been sold weeks or months ago.
@Maaxxx: So...you're planning to boycott Toys R Us, Best Buy, Circuit City, Target, and pretty much every national chain that sells games, then?
I don't think you've thought your cunning plan all the way through, buddy.
Ahhh . . . look at Nintendo dropping the Wii just days before GTA4 hits the streets. Genius. Futile, but genius.
@ehouse:
This isn't Nintendo's doing really. This is retailers who have been hoarding up Wii's for the Mario Kart release on Sunday. These big retailers do this most times a big game is released and around holiday times as well.
it looks like a blu ray case
I like how they call use the word "Wii" rather than "Wiis". Kinda makes it seem like "More Weed in-stock than ever before!" :D
Toys R Us is behind the times. The really good retailers have Mario Kart and Wiis at midnight on Saturday night. Sam's Club is having special hours that night in hopes of selling bunches of games and consoles. They did the same thing for the Smash Bros. release with lukewarm response. Waiting till the next day is SO overrated.
Being an ex R-Zone manager from my local Toys R Us, I can tell you how TRU gets "MORE WII THAN EVER BEFORE". I'm sure some of you already know, but they get in multiple shipments over a month, tell customers they don't have any at all, and SIT on them until SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY. It's all about sales, people.
To clear things up, I have the US retail copy of Mario Kart Wii, and the game does in fact come in a normal sized DVD case
Are you guys joking?
I go to walmart here in town all the time and there always FULL on nintendo Wii... It also maybe that i live in Nebraska, but dood srsly- there are 3 Walmart supercenters here within 15 miles of me, and each have atleast 6 in stock (the one i went to last night had 12)
I can srsly take pixxorz.
Don't care until they come out in a real color.
At the Toys R Us I work for we got over 100 Wii's in for Sunday. Seeing them all lined up in the back room was like seeing a herd of Dodo's walking by.
a few pople say the Wii scarce if a fake. if that's the case why would Toys r Us put and ad like that?
I already have Mario Kart. I live in Canada. It is awesome. That is all.
Brutal, I totally spaced that Mario Kart was coming out on Sun. Well, at least I have the Wii...
@Purple Dave: If that's the only thing that's keeping you from picking one up...well, you'll be waiting a while, but you could always go here:

@Purple Dave: Try here (sorry if this is a repeat post)

I'll give the obligatory "I haven't played my Wii in forever" post.
