Unlike Nintendo of America, Nintendo Europe are giving PAL customers a little time to prepare for WiiWare's launch, by announcing their first lineup of games for the service a week in advance (European launch is May 20). Europeans will be getting eight games instead of six, and while they won't be getting Defend Your Castle or VIP Blackjack, they will be getting Dr Mario, Germ Buster, Pirates: The Key of Dreams, Toki Tori and Star Soldier R. Full lineup after the jump.
Dr. Mario & Germ Buster - 1000 Wii Points
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King (Square Enix) - 1500 Wii Points
LostWinds (Frontier) - 1000 Wii Points
Pirates: The Key of Dreams
Pop (Nnooo) - 700 Wii Points
Star Soldier R (Hudson) - 800 Wii Points
Toki Tori (Two Tribes)
TV Show King (Gameloft) - 1000 Wii Points

very VERY glad to see Toki tori on there.
I have it on the GBC and its an awesome game! Thats a definate purchase (as long as it doesnt get ballsed up that is)
Ooh, Star Soldier.
Any idea if us here in Aussie are getting the same?
Toki Tori looks ace, might be my first WiiWare purchase.
@KraazyCraig: It's 9pm here. As with all European announcements, we've gotta wait around 12 hours to get Aussie confirmation.
Dr. Mario! :D
first time im truly jealous of not living on europe...
Dr. Mario is coming out in Europe...well good for them.
@Luke Plunkett: but im extremely impatient... and easily distracted too
isnt pop 500 points in the us?
@ashstampede: Nope, 700 points. Points don't change between countries, just the real world prices for those points. 700 points costs quite a bit more than US$7 here in Australia for example.
Go Europe! (for once)
i bought defend and pop. i was expecting pop to be more fun than it is, but i am surprised with defend. very well put together, very enjoyable. wiiware is going to be great for everyone involved, but nintendo has got to solve the space issues as soon as possible.
I'm glad that the US didn't have this release lineup. Otherwise I probably would be out about $40 bucks this week instead of ten.
Whaaaa? We really should have gotten Dr. Mario here in the US... :(
Star Soldier R! Good, I was wondering where it ended up in. Im sure US will get it in time between now and the Euroland release. Game looks really promising.
@Grey Gecko:
Dr. Mario is supposed to be out in the US next week so we'll still have it before Europe.
That's probably why they gave them a couple extra games in their launch lineup.
FF My life as a king, Star Soldier, Toki Tori, and Dr.Mario...a pretty good line of titles.
Might check out FF, Star Soldier R and Dr. Mario. I'll check the reviews before I decide.
Aww, I wanted Blackjack :(
No, really.
Hmm, just been rereading that article on Eurogamer. It would appear that "not all eight titles will be immediately available from the May 20th launch date"
Well that's a kicker, and rather unhelpfully there's no official word as yet from Nintendo Europe as to which of those "launch" titles will actually be a launch title.
Warning to those interested in Star Soldier R.
Please be aware that it is a FIVE (5) minute game, and only the hardcore of the hardcore should buy it. If youare looking for a longer shmup, try GyroStarr or Proethea
DR. MARIO!!!!
Still doesn't make up for Brawl :/
"Still doesn't make up for Brawl :/"
? doesn't make up for being an amazing game?
the site has been updated, this is NOT their lauch list. Pretty much the same situation as us.
"Update, 12.05pm: Nintendo has been in touch to say "not all eight titles will be immediately available from the May 20th launch date". The wording in the press release was, "From 20th May onwards a whole host of brand new creative games from...blah blah blah"
I'm just gonna say STAY AWAY FROM MY LIFE AS A KING. You are gonna run out of wii points in the blink of an eye.
Also, you are going to lose complete track of time for the day you start playing. It's so incredibly adicting for an RPG where you just give orders.
You are very limited at first, but as your "adventurers" explore dungeons and kill monsters for suplies that will help you rebuild your empire, you will be doing a lot more. And suddenly, in lapses of 10 minutes or so (the lenght of a day) you discover you've been playing for several hours running around saying hi to people and giving orders.
Then you will realize you didn't did your real life work and your pets were not fed and you will live a miserable and lonely life if you ever remember to eat again.
Now i'll go back to the game.
What world is this, that's twice at least this year that Nintendo has favored Europeans.
@swirldude: Wii Fit, and Mario Kart a few weeks ahead of UK...
hardly makes up for Brawl, Metroid Pinball, Super Paper Mario, Zack and Wiki, No More Heroes.... delayed for months upon end.
of US*
@Josh*:
You adore astericks don't you?
asterisks*?
:p
So when will Nintendo actually release some storage solution so i can start spending my money? My Wii's full, and I'm not deleting anything.
@deKay01: What's it full...WITH? You some power user or something?
@Josh*: I've got 27 VC games, saves for 26 Wii games, and the photo, internet, Mii, voting, Wii Fit and Check Mii Out channels. I know plenty of people who filled their Wii months ago - I just haven't bought many N64 and NeoGeo titles.
I have two '64 games, 6 or 7 other VC titles, about 15 game saves and assorted channels... and haved used maybe... little over half? Weird. WiiWare's out in 4 days, should have room for 5-6 titles (assuming 40mb files) but then, yeah, I'll be out of room too.
There's gonna have to be an SD card solution - they didn't put that slot there for the Photo channel and Brawl screenshots.
I REALLY WANT DEFEND YOUR CASTLE! THIS SUCKS!
