Or is From First To Last moving EA's FaceBreaker? The post-hardcore band will feature big in EA's upcoming cartoony boxing game, including three brand-new songs to the soundtrack as well as actually appearing as characters within the game. Cross-promotion-wise, the band will be featuring the game at 45 shows during their spring and summer concert tour, featuring clips from the game projected on giant screens, with band members pulling someone out of the audience to demo the game before each show. EA will also be on the scene with their FaceBreaker band bus to make sure you get the whole cross-promoting concept. FFTL will also be releasing a series of 10 viral music videos on the internet laced with FaceBreaker footage. By the time this is all over we will forever associate the band with getting punched in the face by a large man with over exaggerated features.
'From First to Last' Steps in the Ring with Arcade-Style Boxing Game Facebreaker From EA SportsSuretone/Artwerk Artists Showcased Via Music And Likenesses In All-New Game As Their New Album Hits Stores & Tour Begins
REDWOOD CITY, Calif.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—The worlds of new music and gaming collide in the ring as Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:ERTS) today announced that Suretone/Artwerk band From First To Last will be showcased in EA SPORTS' upcoming arcade-style boxing game, FaceBreaker™. The band, whose self-titled debut album was released last week, will have three new songs on the FaceBreaker soundtrack as well as being featured as animated characters within the game itself."FaceBreaker is the beginning of a classic new EA franchise," said Steve Schnur, EA's Worldwide Executive of Music and Marketing. "It looks and plays like no other game on the market today and deserves a soundtrack to match. We were looking for a left-of-center band to connect with a great soundtrack opportunity, and From First To Last is the ideal act to showcase in this game. Add in their new album, their upcoming Warped Tour appearances and a few surprises still to come, and you've a 360˚ partnership that totally 'gets it'. Simply put, we've matched the new with the new like never before. The dual impact of FaceBreaker and FFTL is going to be undeniable."
Along with lending their music and likeness to the game, From First To Last will also promote the game during 45 shows on their upcoming spring and summer tour. The band will hold public presentations of FaceBreaker via projection screens prior to each concert, and band members will pull selected fans on-stage before their show kicks off to demo the game.
Additionally, EA will feature game demos, merchandise and the FaceBreaker band bus at each stop of the tour, as well as exclusive FFTL downloads, profiles, band playlists, contests and more on the FaceBreaker website. To round out the marketing campaign and create online buzz, From First To Last will also participate in the making of 10 viral videos of live concert footage married with FaceBreaker clips to be released on the web.
"By signing FFTL to EA's music publishing company Artwerk, we've made a commitment to create unique marketing opportunities for them," says Schnur. "In addition to FaceBreaker, their music will be featured in the soundtracks of several other top EA titles in the months to come. FFTL's music, concert tickets and merchandise will soon become an even bigger part of their fans lives. The ultimate goal is for the guys who we believe to be the best post-hardcore band in North America today to be heard by the largest global audience possible tomorrow."

Comments
I dont think it counts as a viral video if you announce it beofre they are even popular...
This is pretty interesting. As a fan of FFTL, I don't think this will make want to buy this game more than with my current interest.
I remember this band when they were emerging on their scene. Not that they are horrible, but I put them in the category of not knowing/understanding how they got popular.
I'd never associate the band with bashing in faces cuz I hate buying EA games! :)
Haha, I used to listen to them when Sonny was the vocalist. Awful band. What a dumb kid I was. :(
I actually like From First To Last but I really don't know if this makes sense. At all.
The problem with Facebreaker news is it isn't Fight Night Round 4 news
If they put some Chiodos in the game, than that would move some copies.
Really like the band (their most recent album not including the one coming out), but I'm not sure what to think of this. How does their music fit in with a cartoony boxing game?
FaceBreaker needs more Dillinger Escape Plan and less From First To Last. EA, are you listening?
To bad from first to last sucks since they lost Sonny.
first to last r nub posers ^^ no ty
Ugh, this kind of shoving-a-promotion-in-your-face tactic really puts me off. At least when Ready 2 Rumble did cameos in it's sequel of they did it with humor and dignity.
@Vibhorsir: Chiodos, another band that got popular and I didn't see it coming.
@HaydenTenno: Hell yeah, DEP = greatness. If only they would have DEP and Avenged Sevenfold so they can battle it out.
There's a post-hardcore now?
*sigh* I'm getting old...
(mrrobsa is 23)
@HaydenTenno: gotta love Dillinger, even though they might be a little too chaotic for regular consumption ;p
I saw from first to last in concert (they opened for Every Time I Die), and they were just god-awful; I'd even settle for Trivium in this game. Way too whiny, it's amazing that they landed this gig. It's not that hard to find good metal out there.
these guys look exactly like the dildos that i pictured when i heard about this...
nice job guys, this game will probably be much better using dual analog sticks rather than wii controllers.
@liquid_kore: Viral is anything that is spread like word of mouth over the net waves.
Even still... This smells of selling out here. :(
Does this mean we can actually punch them in the face?
FFTL? More like FTL.
@Americo: lawlz, you win.
Seeing "from first to last" made me immediately think of mario kart. I'm still hopeful for FaceBreaker.
@Chrysalis: It came out like 5 days ago...
Anyways, I love FFTL, but seriously Matt Good is kinda tall and skinny, not really a boxer, and so are Travis, Matt, and Derek. Or is it going to be more like Def Jam where they stack on 10 layers of clothing?
post hardcore? more like post sellout.
I'm not one to usually call out bands for 'selling out' but geeze this is bad.
@mrrobsa: Post Hardcore has been around since 1999~2001.
I have no idea who these guys and I don't care. Why put them as playable characters in the game?
What the fuck does this have to do with boxing? CARTOON boxing even?
I fucking hate EA with a passion.
Well, they certainly look like an intolerable pack of whining merde-fuckers. I'm guessing their music is earnest, yet sharply cynical? Their influences range from The Beatles to Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds? The bassist has a side project that he describes as "an experimental metal-fusion art project?"
@I Spit On Your Comments: Farther back than that...Fugazi can be considered post-hardcore along with Quicksand and other bands that had members that played in "hardcore" bands...these FFTL tools not post hardcore...more like my first pop punk band with tight clothing...
This just sounds stupid. EA once again focusing on shit that doesn't matter rather than making better games.
@inkycap: Don't forget Grade!
Facebreaker = Ready to Rumble 3 (for the Wii). I'll pass.
Do kids today even know that selling out used to be a bad thing?
@inkycap: I should of known someone would come in here and say different. It all depends on how one looks at it really. But FFTL I wouldn't really consider post hardcore either, definitly in the wave of pop/punk genre that adds the dark goth area with some screams.
@HaydenTenno: Grade is cool. How is the 2nd half of the Thrice album? Vol. 3 & 4?
FFTL isnt the same ever since sonny left, but it would be funny seeing matt kicking dereks ass.
Post-hardcore? ROFL
This band is the epitome of awful fake pop punk dressed up in black hair dye and crappy girl jeans.
awesome! we get to beat up the emo kids with no repercussions!
fftl USED to be posthardcore... till they realized there was gold in them there pop/punk hills
Most of these people are probably sad because Matt Good beat them in WoW. :P
@murph: Move to Mexico...its open season on emo kids

5 minutes ago I had no idea who FFTL or Chiodos were. After reading the comments and sampling through iTunes, I now hate all of you.
...who?
Yay! I will get to punch From First To Last
@I Spit On Your Comments: Awful. I wish I didn't listen to it.
I wish Grade was still around, one of the best live acts I've seen.
Talk about selling out... geez
@I Spit On Your Comments: Amazing. Thrice and grown and matured for the better. One side is completely folk stuff, like Dustin's solo album, while the other side is just very uplifting. I'm glad they stopped the pop/punk/screamo garbage, because now they can show their true talent.
I suppose I'm in the minority as a FFTL fan, not a rabid fan mind you. But... um... FFTL + boxing!?
And I would agree post hardcore is not the best description of them, I would have put them in 'screamo' territory although their new Sonny less album definitely veers more towards pop/punk.
Talk about selling out. They couldn't pick a band with talent? Sucks too, since I was really looking forward to playing this game.
@AppleTamer:
no game from EA could be that good
My old band played with these dudes a couple times. God they were sloppy live. Didn't understand the buzz then...still don't understand the appeal.
I haven't heard of a band selling out to this extent. I mean it is cool if you like video games and want to put some of your music in them but releasing new songs in game, forcing your fans to buy a 40 dollar game over a 15 dollar record. Then subjecting people to watching you play video games and footage at the show they paid to see... really?
I don't want to besmirch anyone who has found a way to get paid to make their art, but this seems excessive. Even the inherent invitation to punch the band in the face is a bad idea. Their manager must have been asleep at the wheel.
Um, who?
LOL at considering these guys post hard-core. What a joke.
Hate to jump @I Spit On Your Comments: Its crap.
... a) Since when does an emo-rock band qualify as a "good sountrack". Especially to a boxing game.
b) Why does EA have the most horrible music-licensing department....
Okay... I don't even know what type of music "Post-Hardcore" refers to. And I've never heard of these guys.
But seriously, they deserve an award for outstanding achievement in the field of selling the fuck out. I mean.. That's some hardcore selling out. Or maybe it's post-hardcore. I forget.
@Uzumaki_Kiba: It's very easy to explain post-hardcore.
Hardcore: Minor Threat
Post-Hardcore: Fugazi.
End of lesson.
