The haze demo is seriously fun. The only thing I didn't like is how you have to empty a clip before you can reload. I'd like the option to reload at any time, even if it meant wasting the ammo that was still left in the clip. It just sucks when you've got say five rounds left in the clip so you don't want to start a firefight because you're going to have to reload about 2 seconds into it while someone with a full clip will just charge over and destroy you because reloading takes so long. The only other option being to fire those five rounds off and give away your position.
It's been a while since I've checked up on Haze, but I'm under the impression that the four player co-op supports splitscreen on the same TV. Can anyone here verify that?
Well know that was vented, I think PSN updates are starting to get kinda hefty if you know what I mean. No more flat chested disappointing ones.
@StevenRafael: Same TV and online
@GregoriusH: triangle is reload
Wipeout HD trailer -- so it's close?
@GregoriusH: I too was getting annoyed by this until I realized a simple truth: Fire whatever is left in your clip at either a wall or dead body that you just killed until you reload. Problem solved, although this seems like such an easy thing for the developer to have fixed. I mean seriously, none of the play testers in QA mentioned this?
ooo lots of nice demos this week
@GregoriusH: I was able to reload, I think you have to tap the triangle button.
Sweet game though. It's about time the Playstation got its own Halo.
Also gave in and bought PJM:Encore but with all this GTA/new demo goodness, I don't know when I'll have time for it!
@Ahsayuni: Really? Wow I feel stupid now. Thanks.
@GregoriusH:
This is probably easy to miss since they put it on an atypical button for reloading, but you can actually reload at any point with the Triangle button.
You were probably spamming Square the same way I was. Oddly enough, this is the button to replenish Nectar from your other squad mates.
@kingclip:
Yes,It was supposed to be May/June,but probably early June.
@DrunkenTrom:I had the same problem, it should be square by default
Luckily I had to change the triggers round a bit to suit me so I found at that Triangle was reload, otherwise i'd have probably played the whole demo without reloading manually once :P
Haze has fully customizable controls, something most any given title sorely lacks. I'm surprised so few bothered to check... Starting a game and randomly hitting buttons seems infuriating to me.
I really enjoyed that Haze demo. I'll definitely be getting it on day one. It felt really sleek and I do love that Nectar.
Demo is downloading painfully slow for me.
It was alright, seem like run of the mill shooter to me. I'll wait when it is in the bargain bin. I have to save my money for a lot of other games coming out this year.
@JKPierce: That was one thing i loved about resistance. None of that "Southpaw" crap this isn't baseball!
I'd wait to reserve judgment. This is seemingly an extremely old build based off old gameplay videos, and I'm a little surprised they didn't update it.
@MrMcdoobie: I don't do drugs:
Yeah,it's going to take a while.
@Ahsayuni: Change it in the options then. Geez. The game has like 8 different pre-set control schemes and you can customize it yourself also.
Good update.
I'm for sure downloading the Grid and Haze demo, but probably won't even look at them until I finish GTA.
The Mirror's Edge trailer though? I'll be watching that on repeat, maybe 40-50 times.
What is this madness? None of you have mentioned how excited you are for PixelJunk Monsters Encore!? WTF is wrong with you people? lol
Haze was freaking awesome, I only wish the demo was longer. Not enough to hold me over until it comes out. D:
Sweet. This is pretty awesome.
And, once again, I called it. I said NA would get this at the same time as Europe, and I was right.
And, I remember the old days before there even was a background download.
@DigiMish: I don't care, because I still can't get the damn seventh rainbow. I have 4. That's it.
@GregoriusH:
Thats weird, because I can reload anytime I want in my demo of HAZE.
Yes, Haze DOES rock.
@xbandaidx: I beat it 10 times by now (since Tuesday), 5 of those in COOP :)
Game is on pre-order.
That's a fair amount of fun stuff. I'll be trying the three demos, getting the mirror's edge vid, and possibly the pixel junk monsters expansion, though I never finished the last one, so I might wait a while for that. Still kinda tempted to get that COD map pack... $10 for 4 maps seems too expensive though... Are they worth it? Anyone?
I'm glad to see so many people liking the demo. I don't remember seeing such an overwhelming positive response for a PS game since Uncharted to be honest.
since the download is crawling ever so slowly maybe nows a good time to ask about why i haven't seen any mention of the new homepage on the ps3 browser. so why no mention of the new homepage with links to youtube, flickr, twitter, and the psblog? did i miss it in the european event coverage thing? its been up for days now and i haven't seen it mentioned so i'm just curious.
WTF were they thinking with the new PS3 promotional video? Seriously, WTF?
@RoboMudokon:
Care to elaborate?
@j.howlett: They change the homepage all the time.
It changes at least once a month.
@LittleBigPlaneteer: Man, now I'm really excited for this. Lemmee check. I started at 4:13. Damn, only 15%.
yay for the monsters update. .. . my wife has been bugging me for like 3 weeks after i told her i thought it was going to get released in april :(
Time to jump into the Remote Play mode of my PSP while at work and get those downloads queued up. Woo!
Good update this week!
While Haze doesn't deliver much on graphics, I found the gameplay to be pretty good and fun. Hope to try co-op soon, definitely buying it.
@cio: If you're into playing CoD4 online, the map pack is well worth it. If you mostly play the single player and random online matches, I would pass.
@Palladium: co-op does wonders in PixelJunk Monsters. Alone, it's impossible, I feel ya.
@sascha23: The maps are OK. They feel really rushed to me, however I absolutely love the training course for 1 on 1 action. Chinatown is a clusterfuck, and the outdoor one is just freaking huge. The TV station is fun as hell though, it was awesome in single-player, and that seamlessly translates to multiplayer.
@DigiMish:
I couldn't finish the first one. I'm kinda OCD when it comes to my RTS games and I restart if I lose a single unit. That, coupled with how challenging the game is made it impossible for me to finish it in a timely manner.
I suppose I should get this DLC and give it another go and try not to be so finicky about losing a unit.
I just tried the Haze demo, I absolutely HATED it, though I seem to be in a minority.
The controls felt awkward, the aiming was twitchy, and Night Trap had better actors.
@VishusBurn: See if you can find someone else to play the game with you, things become less hard.
Eh, the rainbows are cool, but they don't do anything besides turning the entire map to nighttime on the selection screen if you get a rainbow on every stage. No new towers, no new spells, no new stages, nada!
In Encore, I hear that you unlock a bonus island :)
@QualityJeverage: The voices are a bit over done I do agree.. but I felt the controls felt good.
Who know's though. To each his own.
@ Palladium: i know that it changes to highlight things like warhawk or folklore, but this seem a little more substantial. oh well at least this is a change you only notice if you fired up the web browser and didn't go right away to a bookmark. i missed it at first. but i've been to some gaming sites where they hardly turn on their ps3s.
@DigiMish: im excited for PJM :-D
Haze is like the Halo of the ps3. A very generic fps, but also kinda fun. I DO like the idea of having 4 player co-op in the story mode.
But the real standout? The Bourne demo! It reminds me A LOT of Indigo Prophecy, in the fact that it's VERY cinematic. Not to mention it was really fun!
GRID is just an 'on road' version of DIRT. Is that a bad thing? HELLS NO!!! Another fantastic racer from that team, and so slick visuals as well.
sheesh, the HAZE demo clocks in at 1.5GB
@QualityJeverage: I don't know what demo you were playing, but the Haze demo I played was awesome. I was concerned that people were saying that it looked too much like Halo, but it was way better than that, thankfully.
Freaking awesome. Can't wait for more multiplayer.
@Desfunk: Indigo Prophecy? Really. I've just gone from totally ignoring to eagerly downloading.
I <3 the Muse DLC.
Would love to see a Muse track pack for Rock Band. 2 out of 3 of those songs are epic!
@Tyber_Zann: Playstation already has it's own Halo, it's Called Resistance so yeah:
Xbox: Halo
Playstation: Resistance
Nintendo: Metroid Prime
@sascha23: I play a fair amount of COD, I love cage matches, even though I lose most of the time. It just seems like a fair amount of money for four maps.
HAZE was pretty fun. I would say it would get a solid AA. A good game. Now, we haven't seen all of it, so I can't judge it. I'm sure the Co-op is amazing. The game is great. Not amazing, but great. I wish the graphics looked a little better, if they did, this game would be amazing. I love the Nectar :P
sadly enough i'm excited about pixeljunk and the muse songs. ... shame the muse songs aren't for rock band... not that I can get rock band content yet, being in australia and all. *shakes a fist threateningly, and then shakes it again* ...wait, that doesn't sound quite right.
I really don't understand it when people get excited about first person shooters... I've obviously left that hardcore demographic well behind in my failing years :P
heh, i've been waiting for some Muse in rock band as well. but i'll live just being able to 'play' it in GH3. Speaking of, now that my xbox died, i need to rebuy GH3 on the ps3. Sucks that i have to spend that money on all the DLC again >_<
No PJ Monsters for EU update. My wife is gonna kill me. I told her it would be out this week for sure :(
@GregoriusH: Press Triangle, that reloads I think. At least, it does on the EURO demo.
Hmm. Characters are rather stale and bland... So I don't know much about the story.. I mean Halo didn't have the best storyline but atleast Master Chief was a bad ass.
Gameplay was great though. Doesn't feel completely polished and refined, but hopefully it will by the release. I didn't care much for nectar at first, but I started liking the concept after I realized that the nectar replenishes itself. Keeping an eye on your nectar gauge adds a nice little touch to the battle.
By the way, is it just me, or did the developers of this game have Halo killer in mind when they were coming up with this game? The recharging shields, the full body geared soldiers, and even the four letter name of the game starting with "Ha"... Yeah, could just be me.
