Colbert is many things, but a graciously loser isn't one of them. After going off on Miyamoto for swiping the top spot in Time's 100 most influential people list (and calling Donkey Kong a game about hate crime), he settles on the person he's rally mad at. No, not himself: RAIN!!!
Hit up the jump to catch Colbert breaking it down, as the kids say, in a head-to-head dance-off with adorable Korean pop singer on Dance Dance Revolution.

Stephen Colbert = Most entertaining thing on Television. Period.
I have never watched this show a day in my life. I don't know whether I should be annoyed or amused.
I don't get it. it isn't working on my computer....
good thing I saw it yesterday then HAHA, this was funny.
"Oh sure, the ape can throw barrels but when I am caught throwing barrels at an Italian plumber, its a hate crime"
I <3 Colbert.
wow, im surprised that many gamers pay attention to Times online polls
That was awesome (pre- and post-jump vids combined)! I love how one of Colbert's better stunts actually had not one but two ties to video games (Miyamoto and DDR). Nice, and more than enough to justify this article's presence on Kotaku. ;)
FOR CANADIANS:
In an attempt to nip some complaints in the bud this time, You can go to [watch.thecomedynetwork.ca] and click "Video Library" to watch Colbert Report, Daily Show, and tons of other uncensored stuff.
Last night's colbert isn't up yet, but it should be soon.
I wonder how many korean's were offended by this.
This would be the most EPIC battle of ALL TIME.
Haha Colbert is the man.
you just got F'ed in the A
Holy bad grammar Batman
RAAAAAAAAIIIIIINNNNN!!!!!!
LMFAO
I just find Colbert comforting, just another guy thats on my wavelength.
Rain, I can't stand this guy anymore.
Yea he hustled to the top as a musician. I won't take that away from him because he really worked his ass off.
However!, I cannot believe this clown is representing our country as an Actor.
He sold out Madison Square, just keep doing what you do; stop stepping into a territory which is not for you.
@exkon: Of ultimate destiny.
I bet Mrs. Colbert hasn't seen him move like that in ages. Which reminds me, a friend of mine lives literally a block away from there, maybe I should get tickets.
@RET_Ghost: It's not that surprising. This is the internet. Words spread like wildfire here. I'm sure when one gamer caught wind of the Times survey millions followed suit.
@azurai: Web releases tend to be region-locked. Are you outside the U.S.?
Personally, I think Stephen Colbert is hilarious because he's so over the top in his antics and his ego. The fact that he actually got RAIN on his show, even if it was prerecorded, is a demonstration of just how charismatic this man truly is.
As far as best show on TV, I think The Daily Show takes that prize.
He didn't call Donkey Kong a game about hate crime, and actually I think he made this bit very funny for people that like video games. The whole thing was a lot of fun.
Is the crowd always that annoying in American shows?
Colbert has some pretty damn sweet dance moves. Seriously though that was hilarious. I know I watched the show last night, but I guess I must have tuned out during the guest interview and missed this at the end.
Hahaha! That was awesome. I can't believe that Colbert and Rain had a dance off though.
"Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiinnnn!"
@blackadvent: Nice one!
doesnt he realize he's giving rain more publicity?
I actually DVRed the dance-off, because it was just that good. And let's just get this out of the way right now: the "Daily Show"/"Colbert Report" combination is the best hour of television that currently exists. Period.
The most surprising thing is that Colbert (or, as distinguished Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton would say, kohl-BURT) can, y'know, REALLY dance. You wouldn't think that a forty-something married white man from South Carolina would have moves, but the man has moves.
@bigman88zz: You don't get it. Move on.
@bigman88zz:
And considering his show, character, and more importantly, his EGO, how is this a bad thing by Colbert?
@kicking222:
And let's just get this out of the way right now: the "Daily Show"/"Colbert Report" combination is the best hour of television that currently exists. Period.
Quoted. For. Truth.
Awesome. I love Colbert.
Colbert FTFW!
Wow Rains got a mullet almost as powerful as solid snakes.
@bigman88zz: haha you really don't get it.
That was awesome
Should I feel absolutely horrible that I have never heard of Rain?
That's was hiiiilarious.
@bigman88zz: puhaha. Rain was a guest.
Speed Racer is coming out, thats why Rain made the plug in his show.
that rain kid sure can move.
colbert is great. anyone remember his 80s music video?
omg! that was the best thing ever! XD maybe dance offs(or ddr offs I guess XD) will become more popular :3
I lol'd @ "DANCE OVERLOAD!!"
Maybe it's because I'm not american, but I didn't find the first video funny at all. Second one was brilliant though (even with the really annoying crowd).
@ManjiKengo: Yea, Rain has been putting in 15 hour shift for practice for over three years.
Not to mention that all artists in Korea has to square off on Live television every week in order to get recognition and album sales. Whether a veteran or a newbie, you have to fight for your ranking as oppose to every artist in America.
TRL?, what the fuck?, Its a laughingstock when your music video has to fight for a top spot instead of the artists putting it up real in front of their consumers.
Thats why 90% of mainstream artists are fail in America for credibility. Just drop a name, club appearance, take off a bra or two, and you get platinum records.
What is the world coming to?
Wow. Rain actually came?! That's pretty cool. The last thing Colbert wants to do is challenge Rain to a dance-off. Although Colbert did a fairly good job keeping up.
On a side note, I want Colbert's shredder.
Colbert answer to Rain, from a weeks back. The man's mad skillz!
+ Watch video
Long live Colbert and Jon Stewart! It's not easy to be entertaining, funny, political, but not preachy. They pull it off four nights a week.
"Rainnnn...."
@Lainface: You should be ashamed.
DAMN YOU, CHRIS!
My roommate took his TV back yesterday. Of all the days to miss Colbert.
But at least it found its way here. ^_^
@Wenzel: I'm not American, and I thought it was brilliant.
Wait... DDR??
Seeing as how Rain is Korean, shouldn't they have had their dance off on Pump It Up?
That would have made this clip even better.
holy crap, hilarious. Colbert is amazing.
@Tyheam: They were laughing..because they thought it was funny.
This was just hilarious. What will Colbert do next? I swear..
@atron3030: Yeah, I was thinking the exact same thing while watching this. They emphasize the Korean-ness of Rain and all, then they do a "dance off" on a Japanese arcade game.
Though, to be fair, not many people know/give a shit about the Korean DDR game "Pump it up".
@Fyren: I see where you're coming from, but on the other hand I'm glad our country's getting more and more noticed. Too bad Rain seems like such a douche since his only real talent seems to be knowing how to dance. As for his acting/Engrish speaking... heh guess we'll see when Speed Racer comes out.
Though it still baffles me that he even made it into the popularity charts in Time magazine.
I normally don't like Colbert in more than Daily Show bit bursts, but that second clip was probably one of the funniest things I've seen him do.
And Rain's too cool.
Colbert is a god.
The Daily Show is more informative, but goddamnit if Colbert isn't twice as entertaining.
@mackincheese: I don't mean the laughing. I mean the screaming in between when there's nothing to laugh.
RAAAAAAAAIN!!!!!!!!
I don't usually watch Colbert, but props to him for getting RAIN in on the show and taking one for the team when he got smoked in DDR (even if it was staged/prerecorded).
