What do you get when MTV, Harmonix and McDonalds decide some Rock Band-themed advertising is in order? You get cheap Rock Band tracks, that's what. Starting May 6 (tomorrow) and running until June 2, eight Rock Band tracks will be offered - two per week - for the bargain price of 80 MS points each. This week, it'll be "Crushcrushcrush" by Paramore, along with Boston's "Rock 'n Roll Band", with later weeks including Grateful Dead's "Sugar Magnolia", Faith No More's "We Care A Lot" and Lynyrd Skynrd's "Gimme Three Steps". No word yet on whether this includes PS3 owners as well, hopefully we'll hear more about that tomorrow.

You win at life.
Interesting...however...
Shockwave, Crushcrushcrush, and Dirty Little Secret were all already sold once for 80 points (got them all)
Gimmie Three Steps though? Rats...bought that one. I might consider All the Small Things (I hear the drums are fun).
I wonder if these guys aren't selling that well.
I'll pick up Boston and Skynnyrd. I don't know about the rest, but for 80 points I'm sure I'll end up with them all.
You're not catching shit cause you're not creative :P
I might get Crushcrushcrush now, I'm shocking low on points, but then again there's that whole GTA IV thing that I need to attend to...and by attend to I mean beat.
Might have to pick up a few, assuming the same thing is done for PS3 of course.
OK kids, issue has been dealt with, resume regular commenting.
@mva5580:
Same here. I already have all those track except for the FNM and Grateful Dead tracks.
I'm not too crazy for those songs but for $0.99 I'll pick them up in the off-chance that someone wants to play those songs (with me).
Wow, that was something you don't see everyday. What was the topic again?
I already bought "Gimme Three Steps" but I'm hopeful some other tracks I want will be discounted down the line.
Honestly, I'd die for some more Weezer, especially the Blue Album, or "Only in Dreams. I'd also love to play "We Are All On Drugs."
It's all just wishful thinking, but after rumors of Earthbound on the VC, anythings possible!
@Luke Plunkett: Thanks a lot.
I'm looking forward to The Grateful Dead and Faith No More. Looks like I might have to wait for a bit.
LOL
That was uh.........interesting....
Damn, just bought all the songs I liked last week... Should've watied...
Oh well hopefully the Thrash Pack goes on sale, at least it'll be fun to play those songs I think.
@Luke Plunkett: Thanks!
Do you know what happened to the old "Report Post/User" feature?
I think I'll have to get Gimme Three Steps and Shockwave. Been meaning to get those eventually.
@TRT-X: It got abused when people didn't agree with someone else. PS3 fanboys attacked 360... 360 attacked PS3... Wii attacked everyone.
Damn, i payed full price for nearly all those tracks, and the ones I didn't buy, I sure as hell am not gonna buy them now. Oh well.
@TRT-X:
I'm pretty sure it got replaced with Witz :P
Wow 80 points... get them while they're hot. This I'm sure is an experiment to see if they can get a higher sell-through at a lower price. Download is always trying to find that impulse-buy magic number.
hopefully it gets a ps3 price reduction too.
faith no more rules patton is god.
but it's probably pre-patton version :/
Might get the Skynard and Grateful Dead ones. Is there anything special you have to do for this or is the price just reduced for anyone? I see McDonald's and I feel like I'm supposed to buy a Happy Meal or some shit.
Oh i thought there was gunna' be new songs... aw lame.. i've already purchased everything at its high price.... ='(
Crushcrushcrush and Rock and Roll band look cool, and I'll pick up the Skynard song.
Need to remember my grateful dead though, can't seem to remember how much I like them at the moment.
I'm really hoping, however, that this happens on the PS3, or else it will be proof of favoring the 360 by good ole Ronald McD.
Too bad I have most of these already. :(
@Luke Plunkett: Thanx Luke
damnit i only have 60 points atm... and ive been using my money lately for payin bills and buying stuff for my move...
The only downside is your system theme is forcibly changed to promote McGriddles.
SHIT SHIT SHIT
JUST NOW
I bought like almost all of those Tracks
SHIT
GOD DAMN
ARG
*has a cry*
most of these songs are pretty popular and have been downloaded a bunch...stands to reason why they would put this up for cheap.
I know many of you probably hate the Grateful Dead, but do yourself a favor and download Sugar Magnolia for RockBand or atleast check out what little you can with the demo in the RockBand Store.
It really is a great song, and I promise you one Grateful Dead song isn't going to turn you into a stinky hippie. It is a steal @80 MS Points. Truckin' is another great song I'd recommend for Grateful Dead noobs if it drops down to 80 MS points.
Arg! I already have Rock n' Roll and Three Steps! Oh well, may pick up Sugar Magnolia.
@Molbork: Is there a version of "We Care A Lot" with Patton?
I don't know how much of a deal these are. I bought crushcrush already for .99 cents on the PS3 store. I'm sure it's been the same on X360 as well.
The ones I don't already have I'm most definitely buying. It would take a pretty bad song for me not to buy it at 80 points.
I HIGHLY recommend Dirty Little Secret to anyone that doesn't have it. It's catchy and a lot of fun. It may be the most played DLC track between my friends and I.
@Molbork:
Faith No More is the best, most underrated band ever.
So then, why do we get the pre-Patton "We Care a Lot"??? I mean, come on!! There are so many better songs to choose from:
Surprise! You're Dead!! (YES. Ultimate jam)
The Real Thing
Underwater Love
Edge of the World
Midlife Crisis
Kindergarten
Jizzlobber (oh, forget the age rating; this is Rock Band-worthy)
Evidence
Digging the Grave
Just a Man
Stripsearch
Last Cup of Sorrow
Naked in Front of the Computer
(sorry, I just happen to be a huge FNM fan, and really wish Rock Band would get the "good" songs... *sniff* ...gee, I miss that band)
@Highlander Wolf: Why? Because the old stuff's the cheap stuff
@Demaar: I bought crushcrushcrush just before reading this post. xD
I'll get everything I don't have except Boston, as I'm going to get the pack.
I don't understand what the significance of this partnership is. Is there money going to charity somehow? Or are we the charity, and McDonalds is chipping in so we can get tracks cheaper?
Or is it just free advertising on McDonalds' part (as if they need advertising)?
Dude! Cheap Rock Band songs! Suueee-wheat!
Not interested in anything listed in the post here, but I do like the idea of occasional "sales" on songs...I'm a lot more likely to pick something up for 80 points than 160 if I'm on the fence about it.
WE CARE A LOT! Yes please. I want it now, why couldn't that be part of today's releases :(
@KaneRobot: Likewise. None of these are songs I would have gotten on their own and only a couple are ones I was planning on getting in packs. BUT, the lower price will make me look a lot closer at them. Personally, I think they should discount DLC after a time, say 6 months or even a year. But that's not a model embraced by the music industry, so it might not be doable.
But thanks to McDonald's, we at least enjoy a brief respite. Now I just have to listen to those songs and see if I'd want to order them from the Dollar menu.
Speaking of cheap songs, why are the two new Mother Hips songs from last week $2 instead of $1? They're not exactly a front line band, I don't think. Seems like they'd go for cheaper.
@Highlander Wolf: You are a real fan, wow. I wholeheartedly agree with that selection, but also:
Arabian Disco
A Small Victory
@Highlander Wolf:
They're not paying Chuck Mosely royalties, so they're able to pass the savings directly on to the consumer. :/
Awesome! I bought 4/6 of the Boston tracks and Rock and Roll band WASN'T one of them.
I guess I better snatch that one up this week.
Is there any particular reason why this thing stops before the european release?
@eskimo-bob: Its a marketing deal with McDonald's. Its probably timed and marketed for a specific segment that McD's is looking to target. I'm sure the money from McDonald's is coming from their American marketing budget, so they likely aren't concerned with the European because they American McDonald's restaurants won't benefit from any exposure there. Yes, its a multi-national brand, but that also means a lot of local marketing plans. This one is targeted at the US. Won't surprise me if someone in Europe tries a similar promotion there down the line.
