You could also try going for a european guy. *hint hint* :P
If only I wasn't 16. :(
Or Canuk? After all, all the best games are made here!
I live in California. Lookin to write. Hitting you up. PM incoming as well.
Wrong side of the country dammit!
Willing to move to California and quit the newspaper job I just got to write for a living. Good enough?
@Scazza: You know what? You might be right about that, and it's pretty cool...
Too bad I neither live in California (I'm in Canada, woo woo) or be able to write for a living. I'm just not articulate in the slightest.
hm i think i suck at writing, but others might disagree, alas between school and moving out, i dont think id have time to do it =( but id totally want to try if it werent for that
Dammit, I want to write for a living.
But I live on the opposite coast.
DAMN YOU CALIFORNIA!!!
DAMN YOU TO HELL!!!! D:
Man Crecente, I think you need a Midwest correspondent. I just so happen to live in the most dangerous city in America, I think I'm the best candidate for the job.
Wait...
@Fadakar: Dang. I suffer from the same issue. I live in California, I've always dreamed of being a writer, yet, I'm still just a minor at 16.
Now somebody else will get this wonderful opportunity.
@edb87: Denver, Colorado is already in the Mid-West. No need for another one.
Though they already have two California writers...
I'm stuck in Boston, which is a terrible place to have a writing degree...especially if one wants to work in gaming.
Bleh, damn it. =/
I live in Nevada and used to live in California. That's close enough, right? XD
Oh yeah, just checking- this is only open to those over 18, preferrably 21, right?
What an enigmatic post.
And yet, I do meet these specifications.
Where would one sign up?
I know I've already commented twice, but I just really need to make this pun-
*Punches Crecente up into the air*
I hit you up!
Living in San Diego and faithful reader. (Also 34 yrs old).
I'm also interesting as to how we "hit you up" Brian. Should we email you or something?
@Palladium: Yes, but by the time you're old enough to take advantage of such opportunities, there'll be other ones out there - you miss out this year, but in the year or so I've been reading Kotaku the turnover's been high enough that you probably shouldn't worry. :) It's a fast-moving industry, after all!
in SF. hitting you up now, apparently.
@Palladium:
Denver/Colorado is not part of the fucking Midwest...geez, when will people realize this.
Soooooo....
If I was in New York, it wouldn't matter?
you don't by any chance need a 19 year old candian with poor spelling/grammar do you?... no?... worth a shot.
>_>
i'm in LA proper. oh yes, and interested.
Here's another Californian also hitting you up via several channels.
How much can you make writing for a living? Could you actually live in the bay area?
I live a stone's throw away from the Bay Area. I plan on writing for a living, but why do I get the feeling you are not willing to wait until I finish up my history degree in the summer?
Comment on I too live in California and am a middlin' writer. Though I don't have much game writing experience (believe me, I would love to get some. I play waaayyy to many videoga- I mean, not enough. Not nearly enough.) Anyway, here's me, hitting you up. -Antlerbot
@Palladium: Don't feel too bad - I'd imagine they will probably need staff at some point after you hit age of majority and it gives you time to build up a beefy repetoire of sample work ;)
Incidentally Crecente, if you think of garnering a UK correspondant after Xmas 08, I'm your man ;)
Do you guys have a New York correspondent?
a) Why not?
b) Do you need one?
c) Do you need another one?
heh
It's a shame a bunch of the writing gigs seem to be restricted to the Bay Area and such.
Is Michael Quitting? NOOOOOOO!!!!
I'm 23. I'm about to graduate from UCLA. I qualify. What do I have to do next?
Wait... You guys already have at least 3 writers living in California (I'm pretty sure anyway). I know Flynn and McWhertor live in CA. I think Owen mentioned that he also lives in California though. And I'm not sure where Mark lives. I'm not applying or anything (in fact, I live in California), I'm just wondering...
Also, why is McWhertor a Senior Editor instead of an Associate Editor? What does that even mean?
@AnonymousNoob: I'm pretty sure Leigh lives in New York.
What, you don't want a Chicago writer? You know everyone wants to know what Midway is up to, what with the losing millions of dollars and making Batman fight Scorpion and all.
Too bad I'm too young. :O
I live in California! Yay! :( I'm Still undecided in college (Thinking about Law, poli sci or busines... a lil journalism for a sidejob), but if I get hired I'd write for a living!
Damn.
I saw the C and was hoping for Colorado.
I'm a 23 year-old avid gamer located in the heart of Westwood. Although not an English major, I enjoy writing, and would love the opportunity to write for my favourite site. Also, I've supplied many a varied tips to this site over the last two years. Just tell me where or what to write, and I'll create it immediately.
What about planet Mexicon?
I am a 23 year old student living in the heart of Westwood, California. I am an avid gamer, and have contributed a fair amount of tips to this site. I also love writing, and if let me you combine my love of writing and video games, I'm sure you'd reap something beautiful.
Is Washington close enough?
And can I apply at 17?
I have a lot of writing experience covering games, dating back ten years, and still do freelance work. I don't live in California, but can relocate within a month. I sent you an email also.
Currently in Shanghai working in video games, home base is in California and am thinking of moving back there. Would definitely consider it if it means working for you guys...the journalism degree may pay off after all.
I'm definitely willing to write for a living. I live 30 mins from downtown LA. I guess I'll hit you up with an email.

I'm sure y'all need a Montreal correspondent. I mean, the heart of Canadian game development, there's gotta be at least one reliable writer there. Am I right, or am I right, eh? ;D
...
:c
Well, I'm going to study journalism, so one day... ONE DAY... I will make a post on here noteworthy of being called "blog-able".
@Fadakar: Concentrate on finishing High School.
@artofwar420: Very important.
I'm in Anaheim, CA. =D
I'd be interested
Yes, I would love to! I live in the beautiful San Fernando Valley :)

I'm interested. I live in Orange County, CA. Also, I write, photograph and play video games. I currently attend Cal State University Fullerton as a journalism major. Woot.
I am extremely interested! I am a Literature major at UC Santa Cruz with a month until graduation. In addition I have a good deal of work in amateur journalism from my time as editor-in-chief of my high school newspaper.
My permanent residence is in southern California but I am willing to relocate pretty much anywhere for a good writing job.

Best of luck finding someone. Lots of great writers around.
I live in the Berkeley, work for a newspaper and write about video games. It'd be nice to do this on the Interwebs full time.
Hm, I live in Orange County, and I'm a college graduate (Chemistry from UCI). Right now I'm working for the family business, though, so I have lots of free time.
@Samos42: Because he's too senior to be an associate!
Can I write from MN? If I am really good?
At a time when I need a new job. Upstate New York is far from California (why am I a New Yorker?). Though I might be well underqualified.
Very interested. At the minimum to know more. Based out of Los Angeles but born/raised on San Francisco.
I don't live in California but I am still excited because this a great opportunity for someone. Good luck to everyone in California!
I pm'd you, but there was no "you have unfailed" feedback so I don't know if it went through as intended. Whatever. I'm interested, and have blogging and game-blogging experience.
