The Official PlayStation Blog takes us behind the scenes at the gala casino night event held last week in honor of the impending release of Ratchet's robot buddy's first solo adventure, Secret Agent Clank for the PSP. Members of the San Francisco-based media were shown a brief presentation on the game and allowed to get their paws on it before retring to the gambling tables for some good old-fashioned James Bond style blackjack action. While looking at photos of the gaming press get drunk and play cards is fascinating and all, the big news here is the release date for the game. Clank strikes out on his own on June 17th, and judging by the series' first foray onto the PSP, we're more than likely in for a hell of a good time, even if it is mostly Lombax free.

Didn't this exact thing happen to Daxter from Jak and Daxter; namely being dropped from the console games and having a PSP spin-off instead?
Yeah, and it was a pretty good success. The Clank game isn't all platforming though, so it should be good.
@man_in_gauze: No, this is just a PSP entry a la "Size Matters". Regular Ratchet and Clank is still being developed on the PS3 by Insomniac, the latest entry "Ratchet&Clank: Tools of Destruction" was quite a big hit.
@Kenny:
Oh, right, I played the demo for that. I was thinking "Ratchet: Deadlocked", though.
And why is "High Impact Games" one of the tags? Sarcasm, sure, but it's not as if this isn't a well-known franchise, rght?
Im curious about this title. It is one of few PSP games I am looking forward to that isn't out yet. Im sure the spin-off will do the franchise justice :)
Personally I've never liked playing as Clank in the R&C games.
I'm not that interested.
@man_in_gauze: High Impact Games is the developer.
You can call me officially indifferent about the announcement of any new Ratchet and/or Clank game. Or, for that matter, Jak and/or Daxter and Sly Cooper. These games were decent if unremarkable 5 years ago, at this point you're well into beating a dead horse territory.
@Nobuyuki: And yet, not only alot of people liked them, they got plenty of good reviews, and they were the best platform games of their time.
...I guess you're all alone in your little world in this one.
Awesome. Can't wait for this latest entry into the series! (:
Almost looks like Clank is flipping me off.
I was never really a fan of spinoffs abd I don't have a PSP so I'll pass.
@TheCleaningGuy hates...:
Doh. Thanks for pointing that out.
I don't think I want that.
After their whole not fixing the bugs in R&C Future I don't think I want to go though another one.
You guys are crazy. This is going to be great.
