You'll have at least two more options for getting your hands on free tracks for Rock Band, as a pair of new promotions from Best Buy and Comedy Central promise to boost your song collection for "free." As Shacknews points out, Disturbed fans can get access to a pair of the band's downloadables by pre-ordering their latest opus via Best Buy, songs that the public won't get until June. It looks like this particular promotion is limited to Xbox 360 owners and fans of intolerable music.
Later this year, folks who buy the South Park season 11 DVD set will be treated to a trio of unspecified Rock Band tracks alongside top shelf poop and dick jokes. Details? Scant! All this cross selling makes us wonder: Could Rock Band be the greatest cross promotion tool ever to grace the video game medium?

"and fans of intolerable music."
hahahahha. let the games begin.
ohhhhhhh... i wonder if southpark will be "what what in the butt butt"
You couldn't pay me to download a Disturbed song. Unless it was the Richard Cheese version of "The Sickness" from Dawn of the Dead.
Well, free tracks are free tracks. Though, my question is: what are they going to put out for the South Park stuff? Timmy and the Lords of the Underworld was fine and dandy, but there isn't a lot of that going around in the series.
Unless, of course, they let us download the Sammy Hagar and Don Felder tracks used in the Heavy Metal tribute episode.
n/m Forgot that 'Major Boobage' was a Season 12 episode. Well, they could still do it, maybe?
@PollockRoc: They need to include that in Rock Band. I was going to mention it...but you beat me to it.
I think a lot of comedic songs would be fun...
@Gadzooks149: Maybe that song should be in Rock Band...
Instrumental wise, Disturbed is pretty talented!
Great... to get 5 mediocre rock band tracks, I have to purchase intolerable humor and horrible music.
Good thing I have freedom of purchasing power, and don't have to complain about it, and instead simply choose not to purchase them.
Please tell me that's not actually the cover for their new album.
little boy your going to hell - south park? lol
I ope it's a DVDA song
Compared to most modern music, Disturbed is one of the few bands that actually makes me want to punch someone in the face...in a good way.
@Palladium:
"Best Buy Promoting Exclusive Rock Band X360 DLC; Tracks Will Be Publicly Available in June"
No word on South Park though but if you're that anal about DLC then you can at least get the Disturbed ones without having to buy their CD
@PollockRoc: That would be the most awesome job ever. I would definitely take that.
I was thinking earlier today that it'd be cool if Let's Fighting Love was made into a Rock Band song. I hope that that's the downloadable South Park song.
To arms, Kotaku! Begin posting about whether or not you like Disturbed and/or South Park as if anyone gives any fraction of a rat's ass! Nothing else will fill the void inside.
Disturbed isn't that bad. I would have rather played them than Fallout Boy.
@Jeff Paine:
i wonder if it will still be 360 only at that point.
I'm not a huge fan of disturbed but their songs are pretty fun to play. And my buddy is a huge fan of theirs so he'd probabably really enjoy it.
@Asper:
I like both...void filled.
@josh924: I somehow missed the part of the article that says its a *trio* of South Park songs. Hopefully, Let's Fighting Love is one of them.
@nox:
True That!!!
Ten Fold!
@Darkest Daze: Agreed, I guess that makes me a fan of intolerable music, huh?
Oh god, if they put some (more) DVDA in the game I would finally rush out and buy Rock Band.
yay free disturbed kind of not really since i have to buy the album....
@Jeff Paine: Sheesh. You don't get it. It was a more subtle version of Asper's statement.
Every time one of these things comes up, people whine about how they don't like X product.
I was simply beating them to the chase, and saying they don't have to buy the damn thing.
@EnigmaNemesis: @nox:
Agreed, and agreed.
It's kind of funny that South Park is helping with Rock Band since the episode was specifically about Guitar Hero.
Yes... Yes! Give me DVDA for my Rock Band!
What makes a man, is it the woman in his arms,
just 'cos she has big titties?
Or is it the way, he fights every day?
No, it's probably the titties.
OH thanks best buy, you're making me consider getting rock band because i will now be having an uncontrollable itch just by knowing that there will finally be two disturbed songs, sorry, two good songs out of the sea of mediocre to sub par songs on rock band.
@kfresh97: I hope to God that that is one of the songs chosen. I don't really see how it couldn't be.
@KidoftheThird:
Wow.
Just wow. Seriously.
@kfresh97: I would sing that allll motherfucking day
Land of Confusion by Disturbed would be nice.. or from Genesis.. whatev.
The disturbed songs are pretty good, I pre-ordered from bestbuy.com yesterday for it, but haven't received a download code yet.

Inside the Fire
Considering what happened with the OXM tracks, both the Disturbed songs and the South Park tracks (whatever they end up being) will eventually publically be available.
Heck, they're releasing the European tracks (including the foreign langugage ones) here in the North America!
Please let us get Now You're a Man as a track with the south park dvd.
@josh924: What do you mean "somoehow missed it"? You definately missed it. As did I. Because it says absolutely nothing anywhere about the songs being from South Park. It just says three songs.
Intolerable music, like 90% of the tracks on Rock Band, including DLC? Because Disturbed doesn't fall into that category, thankfully. If Indestructible is on the Rock Band store, I will buy Rock Band.
And South Park has been crap lately. If you're gonna hate on Disturbed, you might as well condemn SP for being a terrible TV show after the Imagination Land episodes. That Guitar Hero episode? Trash.
Rock Band DVDA Track Pack:
Now You're a Man
What Would Brian Boitano Do?
Little Boy You're Going To Hell.
Yes, oh god yes. I would be very happy.
inside the fire's one of the tracks? it's such an awesome song.
"and fans of intolerable music"
Oh no you dident.
What alot of you guys dont know is that south parks creator actually have a band called DVDA,(Double Vaginal,Double Anal)and they have made some funny songs
+ Watch video
i would play the shit out of that on rock band.
Disturbed fucking sucks, but I have to admit, that's some of the most awesome cover art ever.
@EnigmaNemesis: heh, not really. Its pretty basic stuff. What really bugs me is how they somehow think they can have a demon/zombie guy as their mascot. As far as I'm concerned only Maiden can do that and Disturbed isnt fit to lick Eddie's blood soaked boot.
does the disturbed album remind anyone else of the old Manowar album covers?
Will Rockband ever get DVDA songs?
America FUCK YEAH!!!!!!!!!
"and fans of intolerable music."
Almost as much fun as intolerable video game blog staff.
Hahahaha.. I like Disturbed :D Bring back Nu-Metal I say! Actually his voice is pretty outstanding...but I digress I'm not having a band fight with people here.
@Gray665 Nobody is fit to lick Eddie's blood soaked boot, not you, not I, not even Eddie.
Oh noes! Disturbed fans sad!
@Michael McWhertor: People's music taste is a terrrible reason to bash them. There are already plenty of reason's to argue and disagree, thanks for adding pointless fuel to a fire. Also, disrespecting other peoples preferences is not becoming.
Wow. I came into this thread expecting to see a cavalcade of comments trashing Disturbed, and then I'd have to hold my tongue for fear of once again being told I have awful, underdeveloped taste. Glad to see not everyone shits on all music created after the turn of the millennium!
I've not been impressed with anything Disturbed has done since The Sickness, and I was in no way interested in getting this new album. However I'm sure they can lay down some great instrument tracks for Rock Band. So I preordered it. But I'm curious to find out if Best Buy will actually be able to send me my download instructions. I have so little faith.
Big freaking surprise. Best Buy is being a douche. Despite the wording that would suggest you will get the download codes when you place the order, Best Buy is now telling me that the songs will not be accessible until June 3rd. In which case I might as well just cancel my preorder and download the songs then, considering I have no interest in the album. I just wanted to rock out.
I also dig talking to myself. It's what I do.
DUDE!!! How About What Would Brian Boitano Do!!!!
Can I cancel my preorder after I get the Rock Band songs? I'm not exactly a fan of Disturbed's music unless it's in the key of green, red, yellow, blue, and orange.
