Sony Computer Entertainment America recently filed a trademark for a product named "Qore," but we don't expect to necessarily see a game coming to the PlayStation 3 or PSP with that name. Instead of the standard description "computer game software and video game software" services—as in the case with the recent filing for The Last Guy, a planned PlayStation Network release—the trademark filed for Qore protects against "computer services, namely, providing interactive online magazine and entertainment services in the field of video games."
Whatever it is, it's almost certainly PlayStation related—and one could speculate that a more polished digital delivery of approved info via the PlayStation Network might be a compelling service, from a marketing perspective. We'll be digging around for more info, but your best guesses in the comments are welcome.

Once they keep the blog. :)
Didn't they just cancel their regular monthly mag like, last year? I thought they wouldn't need it anymore with third parties and the downloadable capability of the PS3. If they were going to start another mag wouldn't they have just transitioned their old mag into the new one? It's interesting that Microsoft/Nintendo feels they need a supposedly official mag but SONY stopped publishing theirs.
Playsation TV, reviews, videos, rumors, everything a mag has, maybe their version of x-play?
Sony still has an official magazine
@GOLD5: for america anyway... [en.wikipedia.org]
This sounds interesting :) I wonder if they are going to pull support for all the other print stuff. Actually, I wonder if this is going to compete with online portals like IGN and things of that nature? AN alternative for gamers or just better control of the message. I'm definitely interested to see what happens!!
@okenny :): "interactive online magazine" Im gonna guess online.
@John-irl: It it's that cut and dry, it's going to cause a lot of friction I'd imagine with traditional print pubs that sport the PS name.
@dairyking: don't start that shit here!
Sony can do just as well keeping their loyal fans uninformed. Most of my friends that are PS fanboys didn't know that the 40gb couldn't play PS2 games and they thought GTA IV was only on PS3.
@dairyking: It appears they locked out comments on the topic because of you.
@dairyking: Sony's making a new game: Jack Thompson, Ace Attorney!
Team up with JT and prosecute such evildoers as Strauss Zelnick! Insult gamer sterotypes! Spread fear! Try to be a bigger dick than dairyking in the Challenge Levels!
While we have next to no knowledge of what this is, it'd be cool if it ended up being some kind of interactive magazine - there's a good amount of potential for something like that. Hell, any more of a connection a company can establish with its customers is a good thing, I say.
@John-irl: I still miss the old OPM. and the Hitman lookalike Giancarlo.
Dairyking shoulda called himself Wanking.
@nox: it seems that your friends don't visit the internet much. i mean all the things you have mentioned have been well documented way before release.
This is wonderful. Why, I love quorn. A whole magazine dedicated to it excites me.
@zanzibarlegend: Yea they don't visit the internet much. Not everybody reads gaming news everyday like us
Sounds like the kind of 'magazine' I might browse while in my HOME.
I know, I know!!! It's the name of the skin mag you, er, use, umm, in Metal Gear. Hard Qore.
where is this "dairykings" comments that you guys are replying to?
Nudie magazine day, nudie magazine day, nudie magazine
Seriously though, how about making a PS3 newspaper and distribute it via Home on a weekly or monthly basis.
I say do it every Thursday to coincide with the regularly scheduled PSN store update. I
@schizorogue: dairykings was spamming the comments section on a couple posts and it appears that his account has been deleted.
@schizorogue: yeah I missed it as well
@nox: I guess his account wasn't deleted just his posts here were, it seems his posts still exist on the other one.
I don't really see the point, but perhaps they have some kind of cool idea up their sleeve. Personally I'd rather see them improve their web browser...
SWEET, I for one am excited to be looking forward to something OTHER than Home and In Game XMB...shit I don't think we will ever get those...lol
