Fondant make your blood run cold? Like something a little less labor intensive for cute desserts? Screw the game cakes, say hello to pixel cookies made using a Play-Doh Fun Factory. A photo how-to shows you how to take extruded dough sticks and turn them into the lovely creations above. Next up on the original baker's to-do list? Mario cookies using the same method.

Mmmmm... Play-Doh...
*drool*
Awesome! I SO have to do this! :D
Anyone else think that Play-Doh smells delicious?
it's actually cookie dough, not play-doh, on the filckr page it shows the cookeis before and after the bake.
Next Project:
Confectionery recreation of Custard's Revenge
@OneManFreakShow:
I do, I have thoughts about eating it sometimes, lol.
@AnonAMoose: Thank you Professor Obvious
@Dauragon C. Mikado: I'm thinkin' he was responding to the first two commenters, who might've been confused about the cookies actually being edible.
In other news. That's really cute...it's too bad I have pretty much no culinary skill whatsoever.
Thank god for 1-bit art (that's what came before 4-bit and 8-bit you n00b5 :p), I can't imagine trying this with anything higher resolution or color.
Looks kinda delicious :( I wish I had some who loved me to make me cookies. It'll be pitiful to make these myself and eat them in the dark corners of my loneliness :(
@OneManFreakShow:
XD....yeah it's one of those lovely smells from childhood I actually still remember!
Of course, it definitely didn't have the same matching taste...and "NO" I didn't eat it--I just put my tongue on it when I was a kid!
Oh wait, that didn't come out exactly right, did it?...o_O
And a new edible, game-related art form is born.
@okenny :):
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't 1-bit art technically be a single bit, on or off/black or white?
Next up: Katamari Cheese Ball!
yes, you are correct... or black-and-chrome if you get old-school like that ;)
@Dauragon C. Mikado: LOL...classic
@Aethyr: No actually if you kinda read into the first few comments you can tell they're being funny--I think they know it's not Play-Doh. There just making a joking reference to it similar appearance to Play-Doh, especially when, as a kid, lots of us used to use cookie cutter molds to make cookie-like shapes. Or at least that's how I used to do back in the dayz. :)
@dunetiger : the mekuri master: It doesn't really matter what the colors are, as long as there are only two of them they can be marked with a single bit.
But uh, that green would make me pass those cookies. Make it chocolate brown or something and I'll be all over them.
@ara: oh... that's what s/he was asking? ^_^;
@okenny :): Now you make me doubt it. -_- I have no idea anymore.
This my friend is a labor of love!
Its kinda like how the Japanese make the candies with designs inside of them. Same sorta principal.
Thats quality
for a more detailed step by step, including ingredients, check this link. no clue who had the idea first.

JUST GREAT~!
First they invade our space and now they're invading our cookie jars! When will it end?! Next thing you know, we'll be getting shoes, papercrafts, pillow cases, scarfs and hats!
In all seriousness, these are some badass cookies.
Awesome, now I gotta go buy a Play-Doh Fun Factory.... and some cookie dough. :D
Fondant is for cheaters. I SAID IT.
Learn to carve your cakes, people! Fondant is the Gameshark of baking!
@MizzDiva:
@dunetiger : the mekuri master:
1 bit art is black and white. ( 0 or 1) 4 bit color means up to 16 colors, 8 bit is 128.
I will be buying a new play-doh fun kit to try this out! Don't want to use an old one. Although that would impart "that" interesting flavor..
@Witzbold: almost all types of candy design is made similar to this.
This looks awesome, I so want to try this! Now to find a Play-Doh Fun Factory...
Looks easy, but time consuming, and I love baking. But, I think I'll stick to making scarves and macadamian cookies!
It's a shame that I am not a big fan of shortbread cookies. I predict that shortbread will become a staple for game cookies like fondant is for game cakes.
AAWW, i thought those really were cookies...
there's no fun
@Mactheridon: they are cookies.........
