Yep, yep. Talking time. It's Friday night and that means the TUD Girafe is ready to listen. So let's talk. We've got a feature here on Kotaku called "Tell Us Dammit" or "TUD." How it works: We ask a question, you answer it. Simple and no strings attached! This isn't some marketing survey or whatever. It's an emotional investment in you. Yes, we're interesting in knowing you, Kotaku reader person. You probably know fucktons about us — more than you even want to, we're sure. But, hey, we'd like to know about you. That way you won't be some faceless blob — and we might feel a tinge of guilt when we ban your ass. Or not, because really we're incapable of human emotion. Today's question:
How many hours do you game a day?
Shit man, with my schedule these days, I'm super lucky if I can get in between an half an hour or an hour a day. Been playing shmups like Mushihime-sama loads at my neighborhood arcade. Really helps me relax.

Comments
I probably game about 2 hours a day on average these days. It's pretty uneven, though.
I average probably 1 and a half hours a day if I'm lucky. :(
I'm super lucky if I even get an hour. What's that? Crap, it's already midnight and I haven't sold anything to Tom Nook. I'll never pay my mortgage at this rate. :(
I've put 11 hours into GTA IV since Monday at midnight.
So... a couple hours a night.
8 hrs
3 if I'm lucky.
Thanks to college, not a lot these days.
Usually 5 hours on Friday nights
Well, Mr. TUD Giraffe, I really don't know. It varies from day to day. But several hours a day, I suppose is the best answer I could give.
1-3, more with friends. right now its low, sometimes only 1/2 hour due to junior year. SAT II's tomorrow, two finals this week, then AP test, then SAT reasoning, then finals for three classes. yay junior year.
24 Hours a day..
3-5 on average.
A lot. I'm out of school right now, so I typically wake up, game till I have to go to work, (which are only 3 hour shifts at my dad's restaurant), come home and continue.
So yes. A lot.
2-6
depends on game
I have the attention span of a goldfish, even though I love video games.
On average, about 45 minutes a day. After a particularly anticipated release, up to three hours a day for about five days or so. Then it's back to slow and steady.
Except for Pokemon. That shit is like crack.
3-4, I did about 10 today though. Weekends are different.
Hmm... like 1-3 hours during the academic year, 3-7 during the summer, depends on the day.
Heh, Mushihime-sama.
I game probably 1-2 hours a day. Sometimes more, sometimes not at all. Just depends on whether or not I have the time. I'm definitely not one to use up my entire block of free time on gaming though.
Recently... I'd say 15 hours. If I include while eating and while in traffic and I'm not driving (STAY SAFE AND PAY ATTENTION TO THE ROAD KIDS). The World Ends With You is soooo addicting.
Before that... Uh. I played 2-3 hours a day if I was lucky. If not, atleast 45 minutes.
Hmmm... let's just say my gaming fingers are probably the most well-toned parts of my body. I'd likely be an amazing thumb-wrestler. :p
(Being unattached gives me plenty of free time... and before the snarky replies, it's by choice. I have enough on my plate these days. Vimminfolk can wait. :p)
Let's see...I average about two hours a day.
I usually put one hour into managing my MMO accounts a day, and then another hour playing whatever other games come out recently.
1 - 4 hours a day, I'm not as hardcore as I use to be.
2-3 hours a day
How about "How many hours a week do you play a specific game. It just seems to me that some pople will play one game religously, and others will be like a kid off ritilan and play 10 different games a day for 25 minutes each.
Hmmm? How many hours do I game the games I game?
It fluctuates depending on how busy work is. lately, I only play on weekends (like GTA tonight into tomorrow). I used to play every night: two hours on weekdays and over 10 hours on weekend. During Oblivion, I had a serious problem with addiction and I was playing nearly 40 hours a week :(
Sigh, with full time work and school... About 1 or 2.
1-2 is about average. I would like more, but I get busy sometime.
I usually play for around 1-3 hours. I try to limit myself by only playing late in the evenings.
Of course, if there's a new game spinning in my tray those rules go out the window and sleep is for the weak!
Excluding my time spent at work, i'd say.. 2-4 hours a night.
I usually play whatever game is my current favourite for about an hour to two hours each day, homework non-withstanding.
From a half hour to two hours if I have enough time.
I've racked up more than 310 hours in Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 since December, which is mainly what I've been playing (Brawl hasn't been encouraging me to come back.)
4 Hours a day in the spring, and 2 hours a day in the fall, fluctuates because of marching band. That's average across the week, less during weekdays more friday afternoons and saturdays.
Oi, been struggling to even get a good 3 hours a day. However, once the semester is over, I plan on taking a good long hiatus just to catch up on all of the great games I haven't finished yet...
Who am I kidding? More TF2!
Odviously 24.
I would say a good 5-8 hours everyday on average.
Sometimes more
On weekdays probably about 3 hours and in the weekend about 12 hours.
I probably average out to about 1 hour. My last law school finals + the bar exam= sad and busy panda.
I'd guess 2 hours on weekdays, 3-5 on weekends.
i would say an average of about 4 hours a day
If I am lucky. And very lucky. I will get an hour a day.
At least four, usually a lot more.
Zero on weekdays lately, due to AP chem, but maybe up to four or five (scary) on saturdays.
Of a weekday, I game on the train during my commute. Sometimes both ways, other days I'm too damn tired after work.
So I probably average almost an hour per day there.
Then on the weekend, I might play for anywhere between two and five hours over the course of the weekend.
So, over the course of the week, it probably averages out to be about 60-90 minutes a day.
During the week, it's almost exclusively DS gaming. On the weekend, it's a mix of PC, Wii and 360 games.
2, sometimes more if im playing an interesting part of a game, less if im at a place i hate(stupid linear oblivion gates:P)
Around and hour. Almost never more than 3.
6 if I'm just working part time during the winter at EB Games.
1-2 if that during the Cedar Point season. 60+ hours a week doesn't leave time for many hardcore sitdown sessions.
Almost none, I can't pull away from school long enough to enjoy a good game. On average I game around 1 hour a week... :/
I don't have an average a day because it changes so much. (Depending on how much I want to do my school work.) I would have to say I play at least 2 hours a day when I can play.
But like most people I have a full-time job that seems to want to take more hours of my time then they are intitled to. Then I have my home-work for the classes I took for what will turn to be a hobby in the worse case senerio. (One that cost me well over 100k to study....) And then I have to pay my student loans that are looming on the horizen so I'm in the planning stages of a game so I can start making money on what cost me a minor fortune to learn.
If i have a game that interests me, i play it nonstop for 16 hours.
I haven't played anything but TF2 in weeks. So...about 5 hours per day.
Honestly, it varies. I don't play games every day, but on the days that I do, I generally play no fewer than an hour or two, and others, I play for as many as five or more. Right now, I'm in the middle of Persona 3: FES and spend roughly three to five hours a work night playing the game.
On the other hand, I haven't touched it at all tonight because I decided to take a break and go watch Iron Man instead. (I don't have GTAIV, just so you know.)
i shoot for around 4. any less and i'd get nowhere in WoW.
Maybe 4 ~ 6 hours a week. Working is killing my hobby T_T
I game between an hour or two on the weekdays and many more on weekends depending on what my wife does. If left alone I'd game about 10 hours a day. I love it. I've owned pretty much every system since pong and wouldn't trade those times for the world.
I work in advertising and gaming is surprisingly more relevant than some might believe. If you follow gaming you tend to know what will work in an interactive environment and what won't and that tends to help you recognize bad ideas and try to steer them elsewhere. Clients are still out of touch for the most part so any idea that comes through the pipeline is generally a year or two behind the current trends, but you learn to sort of ignore that and enjoy the projects that you can.
I love the evolution gaming has gone through in the past couple years. Sure, you are still a nerd, but at least you aren't alone anymore.
1-2 hours during school semesters. weekends are longer of course.
I'm down to about 5 hours/day now. I was averaging over 10/day for about 8 years. There just aren't enough good rpgs to keep me playing non-stop anymore.
More hours than i SLEEP. which is not that great for my health but I HAVE TO FINISH the game!
Doing 5 hours a day. On days off, it can shoot to 10 or more easy.
Sadly, probably only an hour a day averaged out right now; cannot wait for summer break.
1-5 hours per day, depending on wha5t I have to do for college. Lately I've been catching in between moments with TWEWY and GOW: Chains of Olympus.
Usually I've got school to fuss with, so I don't actually get to play video games for more than maybe an hour or two each week.
BUT, the year is done for me, so I played like 8:40 straight of GTA 4 the other day. I'm officially jonesing, according to my stats, which I think is apt.
I go for an average of 90 minutes a day.
between working a 9-5, a night job, and hitting refresh for moar kotaku, its hard to find a good continuous block of time to game. So if time is an issue, an event GT5:P is a quick fix. Crisis core missions when out of the house.
if i can find a solid time to set aside, i'll sneak in some MGO.
1/2 an hour a day. :S
Right now i'm focusing soely on drumming, so 5-6 hours practising, and then if there's any good game to play i'd play for 'bout half an hour. But whatever, not playing too much video isn't exactly bad.
I have been in Portfolio so only about 3 hours over the past month until the week started. I started to force myself to play some games to get refocused on what I'm shooting for (I'm a Game Design/Programming student) and that has helped make the work less tedious but has caused my sleep schedule to completely reverse.
I say about 3-6 hours a day :(
Days that I work usually around 3-5. But on days that im off and not with my girlfriend 16 hours. Almost unheard of right?
1-2. If that. Having a newborn really takes away from game time. Though I have an occasional 2-3 hour binge when he's asleep.
