Last we heard about the Clock Tower movie was way back in 2006. Chilean horror filmmaker Jorge Olguin was supposed to helm the pic and When A Stranger Calls scribe Jason Wade Wall was taking writing duties. Well, all that's been scrapped it seems. Hollywood trade Variety is reporting that Senator Entertainment is set to produce the Capcom game adaptation for Weinstein Co. The script is being written by Eric Poppen (Borderland) and will be produced by Marco Weber and Martin Weisz (The Hills Have Eyes 2). Capcom's President Haruhiro Tsujimoto is set executive produce. Shooting starts this July.

Oh, yay. Another video game being made into a movie...
If they do it as a straight horror movie, it could be cool.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
Best....horror...game....ever.....
The first fear, I mean, the one for Super Famicon, not the PS1 game.
Who will make it out of the game(movie) alive? CLOCK TOWER!
If they did it straight horror, yeah, it could be. But you know they will try to get that big name actor who has nothing to lend to the story. Then they will throw in a whole bunch of CGI that will just turn it into one big ball of junk.
As long as Uwe Boll isn't directing it, there's a slim chance the movie might be decent.
haha, Uwe Boll...I signed the pledge!
I dunno. I enjoyed the Silent Hill movie.... not from the game, but as a movie. Never played Clock Tower but if its done in a similar vein, i'm in for it.
@Salen:
I watched "In the name of the king" this week, cause I was bored. I will never get those 2 hours back in my life.
@ Brian Ashcraft I just love the accidental phrase you used due to a simple typo.
"Well, all that's been scraped it seems."
It's so...graphic...compared to the "actual" saying.
@Balius:
Maybe I haven't been sleeping, maybe I'm stressed out. That's a typo? 0_o
Clock tower is the shit, they better get it right...Silent hill does it for me now, but Clock tower did it for me in the snes era
@Brian Ashcraft: It should be "scrapped." You missed a "p". :D
Alright, have no idea what happened to my initial comment... so if this is a double post, I apologize.
But although I'm interested in seeing this just because it's CTower (and CTower 3 had some of the creepiest cinematics (acid bath and bloody piano girl..) to watch), but where's the Fatal Frame movie Dreamworks promised us over four years ago?!
On a side note.. Ashcraft. get some sleep man!.. or at least a nice cup of cocoa to sweeten the long night.
'Scrapped' is like wot Rocky and Apollo did, or what happened to 'Auto Assault'. 'Scraped' is what might have happened to well-flattened roadkill, or is something that might have been done during an intrusive medical procedure.
@ceredonia:
Ah. Cheers. Will change.
@ChimDeathmonkey: I found it to be rather educational. How to make decent/good actors put in a shit performance using a crap script and even worse editing and directing.
Wow, way to give it to a bunch of lame gore-flick creators. At least the Chilean director would be a different face even if it turned out horrible. Now it's just going to turn out horrible and be produced by people known for producing horrible movies already.
that game was super freaky...scissor man is the best and would make a kick-ass horror movie. please let it happen
I only played the beginning of the second one and being super freaked out by it at the time (I think I was like 13 or so). Then they got the third one which was scary at first but got redundant.
If they can get the tone down and not go for the cheap thrills it'll be great. Otherwise I'll stay here on my fence...
@bbzz: His NAME is BOBBY BARROWS. Amateur.
What was the name of that big huge baby thing in the first one? Was it Danny? Good Lord he gave me the willies.
His name is actually "Jake" Wade Wall and not Jason Wade Wall.
Wow! No idea they were still considering this. I like the Clock Tower games to be honest. Sure they're not that interactive but the premise is good enough.
Just don't overdo the CGI. That's what I hate about horror movies nowadays. Either it's a gorefest like Saw or a horror movie gone wrong because it's peppered with too much CGI. CGI is 90% distinguishable and not scary enough.
Still the scariest game for me would be Fatal Frame...that series rocked! Hmm is there any chance they'd make a movie out of it? =)
KAHN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
oops i mean HOLLYWOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
once again you fuck up the things i love. oh well time to go see Iron Man in a few hours.................. D'oh
P.S. When A Stranger Calls sucked ass!
I bet you the Clock Tower movie going to be a PG-13 crapfest.
@ttocs:
Can't be all that bad... at least its not Uwe boll (yes, it had to be said)
As long as it's not based on Clock Tower 3 like the first movie was supposed to be
What I'd love to see is a combination of Clock Tower 1+2 (that would be First Fear+Clock Tower 1 for us Americans), because Clock Tower 1 doesn't really have enough story to make a decent-length film, but Clock Tower 2 is a direct sequel to that so it would make sense to include Clock Tower 1, at least in flashbacks
@excaliburps: Spielberg at one point expressed interest, though there hasn't been much news on that front lately...
It might be decent. Just think of it, being stuck in a tower with a killer who uses a giant pair of scissors to kill his victims. Sounds a bit scary, doesn't it?
What scary box art.
Could be totally awesome.
Being stuck in a clock tower with a killer who rapes his victims with scissors and then kills them. Now THAT is scare as shit. In fact, that'd be too scary and disgusting for me too see, so I hope they just do the killing.
I know wiki isnt too reliable a source at times but it says here its supposedly going to be based of Clock Tower 2 (second ps1 game)

Damn, and I wanted Jorge Olguin to direct. He's only done a few movies, but the two that I saw (Sangre Eterna and Angel Negro) were incredibly well done, especially on the micro-budget that Olguin works within.
Of course, I have very little trust in Capcom doling out rights to their properties after the Resident Evil trilogy and Street Fighter came out the way that they did.
Color me disappointed.
