When glorious June 12th arrives, playing as Old Snake might prompt many Metal Gear Solid fans to think back on his youth in the series' earlier installments. This latest video flashes back to MGS 1, then shows our boy in his prime during Super Smash Bros. Brawl — and follows up with footage of a young Snake in MGS 4, traversing Shadow Moses in what seems to be a dream sequence. It ends with Kojima being coy as always — will MGS 4 let us play scenes from earlier games in the form of Snake's memories? Thanks, FILASIFER!

I misread that as "Wii MGS4 Features playable MGS Flashbacks" and got my hopes up.
To answer the ah, topic at hand here. I hope so.
I think it's a good idea, for those who haven't played any other MGS titles it's a great way to be introduced to the storyline.
O_O I'm going to kick Kojima in his face! This isn't funny anymore!
OH MY GOD, THIS IS A FREAKING SPOILIER (CRYING)
That's not a straight flashback...obviously, Shadow Moses is way different, and Snake came in from somewhere out in the wilderness, as opposed to the elevator up from the dock like he did in MGS. I've really got no guess.
Whoa. Now I know what that picture was with Young Snake in some MGS4 preview a long time ago.
If they redid all the games but with MSG$ graphics I would buy that in a instant. Just imagine what the Psycho Mantis battle would be like this time around.
Kojima you're a sly bastard, and that's why I love you. Now where's Snake Vs. Zombies? :(
Ehh? Notice how, when Snake "wakes up" at the end, his face changes fro PSOne-era Solid Snake to MGS4-era Solid Snake.
Wow, that would be so cool, but will it be full game? Probably not. Maybe unlock as you progess.
Ok, it was funny the first few (2 dozen) times Kojima pulled this on us, but now he's just being mean.
I can't wait for this game >.<
it would be awesome if an unlockable was getting to play through the first game again but with the high end graphics and such >.>
What will I do without another Kojima made Metal Gear? I shed tears of sadness.
Playable flashbacks? That would be so freakin' cool. June 12 cannot get here fast enough.
I doubt that they're going to be remaking these games again.
But it would be awesome if that it all finished where it started (at least as far as the Playstation series is concerned).
What an ass! Stop playing games with us!
That could be cut any way they want, I'm still impressed how they kept silent about Raiden, to the point of a putting out a demo game with Snake only, about the MGS2. But yeah, certainly not directly from MGS1, the place was deserted in that clip.
@kahjah: I would buy a Ps3 MGS special edition!!! what a great game to jump to HD!
So is Snake in the Brawl part of MGS canon now then?
This is awesome. Kojima's one of those guys who always knows how to impress.
*POSSIBLE SPOILERS*
I watched one of the earlier trailers yesterday, and there is a scene on Shadow Moses with Snake battling Liquid Ocelot, each with his own Metal Gear.
Wonder if that has anything to do with this...
@demonknightinuyasha:
Yeah, I highly doubt that.
A remake of just graphics would take an insane amount of time and effort.
If they were do that it would be a stand alone game.
It will probably just a few playable flashbacks if anything at all.
Oh man. I feel like crying. That Shadow Moses was beautiful.
I hate waiting like this...
The split-second part where the PS1 Snake is dozing and snaps into the PS3 Snake waking up was brilliant.
DID YOU RIKE IT?!
Since the whole Raiden thing with MGS2 I have taken everything about MGS4 with a grain of salt. Kojima is one tricksy hobbitses.
This gonna be KICK ASS
@NPlace: yeah it shows how for its come.
What would be terrifying would be if, when flashing back and sneaking up on one of the enemy soldiers, they suddenly turn around and they all have Game & Watch faces.
@SkutSkut: No way in hell. lol. Anyways I can't wait!
Why is the Assasin's Creed banner at the end of this video? This whole thing seems kinda fishy.
I was surprised to read that MGS4 did not have room for all of the language functions that Kojima wanted...if it is true that the original game has been razzel dazzeled and added to the MGS4 disc, that would explain the disc shortage. I would love another remake, the Twin Snakes on Game Cube was great!
@Chris Gamble:
Still would be great, and it would explain his earlier comments that the old MGS1 staff got nostalgic after playing the game.
Ok damn I figured it out.
Major spoilers in that video by the way. It's now obvious to that it's not a flashback, Shadow Moses is a playable part in this game. Maybe the beginning, maybe the end?
If you remember from one of the trailers when Ray and Rex are together it's in a blizzard type facility.
Kojima stop messing with my mind. He is such a tease.
Oh. Snap.
Wha- Did I just buy a PS3 and reserve a copy of the special edition of MGS4 just now? Bastard hypnotic Kojima!
YES! PLAYABLE FLASHBACKS! i have long been a proponent of playable exposition in video games. the suspension of play-time just to present some cheezy cut-scene is pretty yawn inducing. instead of showing snake do a backflip over a nakita explosion from 26 different angles in slow-mo, allow us to perform that backflip!
Wouldn't it be cool if the final battle of MGS4 took place at Shadow Moses?
Kinda like the story coming full circle then isn't it.
@Chris Gamble:
Problem with that theory is that in this trailer snake was young, in the other trailer with the MGs he was old.
+ Watch video
HD MGS...this calls for a FREAKING DANCE PARTY!! HEY EVERYBODY!!! LETS DANCE!!
Way to recycle material KOJIMA.
loljk
@EGBTMagus: @EGBTMagus:
Can't he just be wearing that mask during the walk up to that part?
The mask is player controlled isn't it?
On the plus side, we now see why it was so damn hard for the soldiers to see us when we were just a few yards away. PSX version, as good as it was when it first came out, just really didn't convey the sense that you were in a blizzard.
@StopTheOncoming: Yeah answer the question, ppl!
But he doesn't have his MGS1 hair is this video. He has a mullet, an MGS2 mullet. Perhaps it's a flashback to something we haven't played at all. Perhaps something that happened between games. How about some excursion involving his time in Philanthropy between 1 and 2. I suppose he probably wouldn't have that big freaking gun if that was the case though. Philanthropy was supposed to be nonviolent right?
This is criminally teasing and awesome at the same time.
*dies*... I hate you, the game.. so close yet so far away from release..
That video wasn't from Kojima directly. Looks like it was patched together by someone, but the footage of what I think is a scene from the late stages of "Snake Eater" looks compelling. Looks like they may have recreated certain levels from other games and inserted them in a new engine. Thats pretty cool, if not gimmicky. We'll see how it works with the story.
The wait is killing me. The next 43 days will drag their ass!
@Chris Gamble: Theres no mask in the game that changes the players age or look other then the Camo mask.
I think everything we have seen in MGS4 is fake! I mean anyone remember this...

@Silent_Shark: Oh man, that would be awesome. 31 flavors of awesome even.
it actually goes from MGS1, then to Twin Snakes, then to SSBB, then the MGS4 teaser.
@MadLinx: The clip of Kojima at the end was from the Assassin's Creed/MGS April Fools mashup.
@Chris Gamble: I actually figured it would be back at Shadow Moses as some wrap up fight in the series. You know, killing liquid off where he should of been dead the first time.
@MadLinx: Ending is the same footage that was at the end of their Assassins Creed / MGS4 april fools video. Cheap recycling for sure.
Fuck you. Fuck you, and your cock-teases , Kojima.
I'm not entirely sure this is real...
Why? Well the 'Did you like it?' is STRAIGHT from the Assassin's Creed April fools video. With Kojima you'd think he'd something slightly different
I don't question the legitimacy of the return to Shadow Moses (in fact, I'm 100% positive that you go back), but this video was definitely made by a 3rd party.
This was confirmed a while back by Ryan Payton n an episode ofthe Kojima Productions Report (might be episode 78, but dont hold me to it). He also said that you will be able to move around the scenes with the Mk. II if you wanted, as it is all real time. They had to record the monologue of each player separately so that when you got closer to or further away from them their voices would get louder/quieter accordingly. I made the wikipedia edit about this a while ago (im firebringervt on there). It looks awesome! BTW, to view the flashback, you press triangle.
I would also like to apoliogize for failing to address the whole story, I have no idea if you will be able to actually play the scene... That would be amazing!
STOP TOYING WITH MY EMOTIONS!
i just wet myself, original mgs with mgs 4 graphics, Dont care if its possible to play flashbacks. My year is complete because i saw it done.
HOLY SHIT THAT WAS SEXY.
I CAN'T TAKE THIS ANYMORE!!!
D:
Look closely at the footage. It looks like Solid Snake has a beard and longer hair. Also, look at the crates. They look w
