Look, there's nothing wrong with McFarlane's Halo line. They're nice figures. It's just, McFarlane are known for stuff with a little more size, and a little more detail, than the wee little figures they've released thus far. Now this new stuff, it's more their style. They've just announced two new lines for the end of the year: two 12" Master Chiefs (one a Wal-Mart exclusive) and the "Legendary Collection", a series of "non-articulated large-scale" figures that includes the Chief, Arbiter and a Brute Chieftain. The 12" figures are due in September, the Legendary Collection in November.

WTF are those mutant bee-looking things? Infection forms?
@freakout: The flood.
It's going for the crotch...
@Antihippy:
I just don't recall those little Flood things ever having stingers on their butts...
As for the crotch, it's the universal male weak spot. Even through a layer of MJOLNIR, I'll bet. :O
the 12 inchers are cool, but the legendary ones are far from "better toys". if i wanted to buy statues, i would buy statues. the first line of figures are much better toys, as you could give them to a kid and that kid could play with them. glad to see mcfarlane actually put some effort into making real toys again.
The guns look awful. But I don't think thats the fault of McFarlane.
They always had them as far as I know.

Those are actually kind of cool.
Bigger? Sure. Better? If you like to have your 'action' figures stuck in the same pose, I suppose.
The smaller sizes had A LOT of articulation AND pretty good detail for that size. This new line is just for folks who look but don't play.
@p_hon: But the 12inch Chief is fully articulated, still no telling what the production run will be. I know that Walmart completely sold out of their series 1 stuff in my area within 3 weeks.
I really like the 12 inch chief. (checks pants), yup, really like it.
I want that Arbiter one,
But I NEED that Brute Chieftain one!
^_^ DO WANT! ~ WILL try to GET! =/
Although I'm pretty much done with the Halo franchise, these figures are very pretty and would be a great way to display the love I once had for the series.
The problem with McFarlane 12 inchers is that they just take the exact same mold from the small ones and blow it up to big size creating a giant plastic action figure. (All the companies do this not just him.) This works OK with armored figures like Iron Man and Spartans from Halo, but figures with clothing like GI Joe/Indiana Jones look really bad that size unless they have real clothes and stuff. (In my opinion. I liked it better in the old days when they actually bothered to design a different figure for the larger scaled lines.) If you look at the Aliens vs Predator line from McFarlane for example, the large 12 inch ones were the exact same figures as the small ones - same pose, same level of detail. It was cool that some of them were clear but I have found from bitter experience that clear stuff turns yellow after a couple of years, so I didn't try to get any of them. I liked the small halo figures from McFarlane because they have paint apps and the old Halo figures didnt and they are way more poseable than most of the statue-like stuff that McFarlane usually makes. I didn't like the light up Cortana with her Sears catalog pose, though. Holy un-sexy.
