When are companies going to understand that times have changed?

This isn't the 80's or 90's here. It's not like this was going to stay covert or that they can still fool the consumer base.

We're not stupid and companies need to stop treating us like we are. This entire incident smacks of a disrespect for customers in general.

It's true for regular editions, not the collectors which is the one most stores are short on. I don't know a single store that was shorted on regulars.

ok this is exactly what is happening at gamestop right now. Pretty much GameStop is not caring about reserves for grand theft auto 4 because its that "HOT" of a title. The company is saying that sell grand theft auto to all ppl that walk or ppl that had it reserved. For the store that sells the most to walk up customer(those who didnt reserve it) that store in each region, every employee will recieve a copy of gta4 for either 360 or ps3. I think its messed up but then again its a business move. I've said too much. But once again i must lol.

So there's a free weekend of a game that I want to buy, but haven't had cash and time in the same place for, having a free weekend, the only weekend in the foreseeable future that I won't have time to play it during? So cruel, Valve, so cruel.

Maybe because Microsoft still refuses to distribute these updates free of charge? Valve could let them do it and then when asked by LIVE users why PC gamers don't have to pay they can say, "ask Microsoft".

As for the PS3, the Orange Box (and TF2 with it) were ported by another company. Valve has expressed their disinterest for the PS3 in general and I would be surprised to see additional content show-up, though you never know.

Hot damn, Payload gametype is AWESOME! I just bought the PC version yesterday since I was tired of people on Xbox Live being retarded... SO much better. And plays great even on a 3 year old video card!

GTA4 or TF2.....you are killing me gaming gods!!

I've got the Blut-thing already. Not a particularly good weapon, but I guess it's good for retreats.

I loved Valve forever, but since I bought the console version the only reason I will buy stuff from them is because of Half-Life. I'm not buying anything else from them.

I just played goldrush for 3 hours, freaking awesome.

Not all the servers have updated yet. But it is pretty fun. At first there is alot of medics on the servers I have played on. With everyone being a medic it is easier for the other classes to kill the medics so it ends up about evening out. At least it has in the games I have played tonight.

The new map/gametype is a lot of fun.

New map/gametype is absolutely ace, especially hearing the new dialogue lines (play the heavy for a while and tell me you don't laugh :P). Also I managed to get a game where I was the only heavy on a team of 8 medics :D. We happily held one of the points for ten mins before some demo guy unloaded all 8 det nades in the middle of the confusion.

@Shad: What drove you to buy a source game on a console in the first place, mabey its your fault not there's...

It took me half an hour to find a server to let me on. They were all pretty full. The map is pretty fun and I'm stoked about all the achievements.
The only problem I have is that everyone is playing medic and not alot of people are good at it. I'm gonna wait for another week before I begin my crusade for the ubersaw.

The servers were also much more laggy than usual, maybe it's because of the 20+ ubers that were deployed at the start of every map.

@D Mitsuki: I don't know, mabey Valve said it was going to be the same and the PC version. And I can't afford a new graphics card ever year.

@Shad: then its a good thing source games run on very old graphics cards isnt it :D, i cant afford a new graphics card ever and i'd rather not be laughed at so i wont even say the graphics im runing the games on and did you really think consoles would have mod's of things nice severs with no match making best graphics and sniper vs heavy match's?

Of course they do this right when GTAIV comes out... they couldn't have done this last month when I wasn't playing anything! (Except TF2 of course).

Valve is really, really, really, really slow in releasing content for the consoles. I've pretty much dropped TF2 for the 360 because of it's nonstop repetitive nature. Push out a few maps for us consolers, please.

The medic achievements look goddam impossible. Although if they do this for every class, you'll really be able to tell who specializes in what.

this is why pc's are better. Great map even better new gameplay mode. Great job Valve.

TF2 is in indefinite hold till GTA gets burnt out.

@Jaziek: Pretty sure they're getting designed so the average player can get first unlock no problems, a decent player with the class can get second unlock but you have to be really hardcore (or spend a lot of time on a stat padding server) to get the third unlock. Medic is one of my mains and I can get the majority of them quite easily, but there are a couple that are just way too involved for me to care about trying to get. I don't care about the ubersaw anyway, at least for medic it seems to go unlock 2 > 1 > 3.

Usually when you whip out the saw you are just trying to get as many kills/assists as possible in your final seconds of life, so something that requires 4 kills for one uber seems kind of useless in most situations.

Well, that didn't take long. Just got off a server where they were passing around the achievement unlock code for use within the console. What a buzzkill.

I legitimately got the ubersaw and its the bomb. The 2 achievements at 12 achievements and 24 also count towards your 36 for the ubersaw, so you don't need to do 2.

I've played the new map today and it's great, I love the role push the cart premise. The new heavy lines are awesome, I really lol'd the first time I heard them.
I play mainly as a heavy so today was a great day for me as at any given time I had at least two medics healing me. I broke a lot of my personal records as a heavy.

@HaiducFolken: I have noticed that too. I thought maybe it was just my connection that was kinda bad today, but maybe it's not my connection afterall.

The new achievements are pretty sweet, though some of them are obviously meant for controlled environments. So make some friends or something.

Or, you can just force all of your friends to help you get them during the free weekend. (When I saw that in the update news I immediately thought of who I know that doesn't have it and came up with nobody that I would actually want to play the game with. So I guess this doesn't help me too much...)

what's the point in everyone playing medic just to unlock weapons they probably won't use when they get back to their normal classes?! how slightly frustrating.

even more frustrating is that i'm away all week and so can't get onto the new map or start unlocking achievements for aaages :(

What's with the desert setting? They should come up with a vietnamese jungle map.

@Kanik: I guess you never went through the developer commentaries. They explain the desert choice in the commentary version of Hydro, I believe.

To boil it down, it has to do with making the environment neutral. It makes much more sense when the devs explain it, though.

I dunno if they've fixed this yet, but if you don't want to bother farming achievements for weapons they prob. should have just made available in the first place, this is what you do:

1)Find a server with 'all_talk' enabled and join the game
2)Open the console
3)Type 'achievement_unlock_all'
4)Plug your ears, since it'll play the Achievement sound layered x 36
