Down on the Wii version of Ghostbusters, are you? Think it's too casual, too cartoony for your tastes? That's because you're not in possession of all the facts. Red Fly - the dev team behind the Wii/PS2 version of the game - have said that in the Wii version, you'll be able to wirelessly connect your DS to the Wii and...use it as a PKE Meter. For real! As real as a full-torso apparition! And just as amazing.
Ghostbusters allows you to connect DS to Wii as PKE meter [VG247]

Kotaku, you keep posting these screen caps all the time and making my eyes dart between my screen and my DVD shelf and it's 1AM and
That sounds like a fun innovation ... if the Wii and 360 versions are significantly different, I might get them both.
Well, at least there's one reason to be excited for this version.
...although I fear I'm still going to have to buy a PS3 or 360 to play the "real" one.
sounds fun, i remember having a ghostbusters gun that straped on my back and the ghost capturing device.
(can't remember names)
Using the DS i guess you wont look like a tool using it.
NICE! now please do this with PSP/PS3
it would be sweet if you could throw the DS on the floor to act as the ghost trap. :-)
The 360/ps3 version comes with great gameplay and graphics though so...
Cool idea though.
@Dakobah: haha me too man, had the ecto 1 as well. so did my friend in fact, but the poor fella's melted next to the radiator.
What would have guaranteed a double sale for them is if the Wii/PS2 version was based on "The Real Ghostbusters" instead of a cartoonified version of the PS3/360 version. Greatest cartoon ever made.
Oh, I'm glad I got the Wii version, now I might consider getting the DS version though as well, as well as the 360 version.
This just keeps getting better and better.
Made my day! With all the crazyness goign around GTAIV, im feelign a bit left out for being a single, simple Wii owner.
DS PK Meter on the horizon, awesome!
@RidleyTJN: I have yet to find those cartoons to buy on DVD... loved them as a kid.
@Shiryu: Thats cause Sony hasn't ever released them. I'm hoping if these games are a success, they'll take the hint.
@Shiryu: Mario Kart's not good enough?
Just out of curiosity, are people actually still excited about Ghostbusters now? I mean, granted, good movie, prolific theme song, but it's been twenty-four years since the only decent movie in the trilogy came out, and the cartoons had a fairly small audience as I recall...
@Balius: Its that damn good, and yes, people are still excited.
@Balius: Sorry, not a trilogy. But Ghostbusters II is bad enough it should count as two bad movies.
@Balius: Oh, and it wasn't a trilogy, they only had two movies, Back to the Future was the one with the trilogy, but that was pretty good movie itself.
@nolifedopestar (PSN: noliferuin):
I full heartedly second that!
Wow, this is awesome. This makes it much more difficult for me to choose between the Wii and 360 versions. I'll have to rent em both to see what I like.
@Froggore: I know I'm going to handle that, heh, I'm getting them both.
@Ashkihyena: Sony? Oh, im reliefed, they are well know for making really sensible decisions in the past /sarcasm
(yeah, I know its the weapon of a weak mind, bla bla, bla)
I have 2 episodes on DVD. They were buil-in as a bonus on the DVD version of Ghostbusters II. I assumed they would released them "soonish" after, but they are Sony after all... years have passed and im still waiting.
@Balius: It is, oh it is, but ive been been feelign the need for speed, and since I dont have F-zero, I went up and hooked up my PS2 and am replaying Ace Combat 5 and Zero. Also, im busted from a 3-day weekend of Wii Fitting...
I'll pick up the Xbox version the day it comes out, and then wait 4 months and pick up the Wii version for $20.
Kinda reminds me of the way the gameboy advance can attach to the gamecube so you can play Crystal Chornicles.
Only wireless
and probably suck less
@Shiryu: Don't worry, Sony's made many mistakes in the past, quite frankly, the blue-ray in the PS3.
Yeah, they also have a couple of episodes on DVD, but I don't want just a couple of episodes, I want box sets, I mean, seriously, the old TMNT cartoons have them, so I think RGB should as well.
@Ashkihyena: Thats exactly what i'm hoping for. Everything TVshowsonDVD.com have said was that Sony's animated dept see's no money in it. Which is pretty annoying. I'm hoping the game releases will knock some sense into them. It's one of the few series I desperately want to own on DVD.
GET HER!!!!!
Very interesting. I will have to keep my eye on this one.
@Ashkihyena: That Blu-Ray may seem frivilous to a gamer, but to the people wanting a Blu-Ray player, it's a major selling point. And of the 5 people I know who have a PS3, only one says he bought it to play games on, and even he says he plays the 360 far more often. The rest picked it up because it was the cheapest Blu-Ray player on the market.
The gaming side's getting much better lately, but for a while there it would have been a hard sell convincing me it was a gaming console based on the library.
@RidleyTJN: Sony's animated dept is full of morons then, cause most everyone who remembers RGB wants it badly on DVD.
@Balius: Pft, I don't buy my consoles to play movies on, I buy my consoles to play games on, if I want a movie, I'll pop in a good 'ol DVD thank you very much.
Of course, like I said, typical Sony, just another mistake, aside from not releasing RGB on DVD.
That made my nerd centers tingle :P
@catapult37: No no, that's what the 360's power supply is for!

@-itis: Yeah I had a bit of a seizure when I read the article.
I can imagine Brian 'my-hair-has-mojo' Crecente as a Ghostbuster in a new film. Maybe a fan-inspired Kotaku produced one.
^ Project right there for you Owen!
@Ashkihyena:
*backs away from the flaming*
@globones: I know I'm going to get probably banned or such for saying that, but I'm just not a PS3 fan. Personally, I think they could've done without the blue-ray player and made it fully BC, but thats just me.
Out of the countless disappointments from licensed games or games based on movies, I still can't believe all the kool-aid thats drank around here regarding this game.
@globones: Well, I said it once, and I'll say it again, this is going to be great compared to the original Ghostbusters game that was released on the NES. *Shudders* Ugh, there was a horror among horrors.
this is nice and all, but id still appreciate some online co-op play. sigh, why cant my games have everything that i like?
Just talking armchair designer here, but wouldn't this be better as a rail shooter like Umbrella Chronicles? 4-player split screen is going to look like dookie in action. 4-player co-op on a single screen would work (and look) much better.
That DS connectivity sounds awesome. I wonder if you can take it mobile and look for ghosts outdoors. Kind of makes you wonder if they're doing a similar functionality with PS3/PSP.
Alright, I'm definitely getting the Wii version as well as the 360 version now.
The wii version is more of a multiplayer affair with an interesting graphic look like a Pixar version.
A number of people will get both console versions or stick with the wii version.
DS version is said to be like a managament sim game so it's different as well.
"Kind of makes you wonder if they're doing a similar functionality with PS3/PSP."
Since no psp version was announced and that the ps3/xbox 360 versions are the same game there won't be such connectivity.
for those wanting a look at the wii version [computerandvideogames.com] has some details including the multiplayer stuff which the xbox 360 and PS3 version do not have.

I've been waiting for this sort of cross functionality in a game-- both systems have built-in wifi, it seems like a no-brainer, a natural extension of what they did with things like Four Swords for the GBA/GC-- and this sounds like an awesome fit for it.
DS touchscreen > Wiimote, too.
@tk.:
Geometry Wars Galaxies has the functionality as does Pokemon Battle Revolution. Even a ubisoft game for casuals I think has it as well.
Even though Nintendo announced this feature and has the tools available a lot of developers when asked why they aren't using are startled by it. Third parties are a bunch of ignorant asses when it comes to the capabilities of the wii.
The Wii version is going to have some sweet, sweet audio too. I know these things.
Wow, I may go Wii over the 360/PS3 for this...
Then again, no word on PS3/PSP having same functionality? *sobs*
Wii it is then?
So, when does the contest for making a Wii Positron Collider Peripheral
You KNOW what this needs, right? Something to plug into the DS Card slot so your DS can have those little hands the PKE meter always has! XD
