Purdy! These heavily PhotoShopped Halo pictures are the handiwork of flickr user joshuadamon. Not sure if they're just in-game screen grabs that have been reworked or pics of Halo toys that have been PS'ed or a combination of both. What we are sure of is that these sure are beautiful.

Very nice. Too bad the real version resembles Halo 2.
They all look like in-game pics. But still freakin sweet nontheless!
too bad ill forget all about halo after tomorrow..
They need to figure out a way to dynamically add filters like that to the game as your playing it (purely optional though for those who cant stand it). That would be effing awesome.
shiny!
"JOSH DEHMUNN..."
Sorry, just coming off of the Matt Damon thread.
I hate Halo but that guys got talent. awesome looking pics.
@NitrousO:
Umm. They did figure out a way. You need to read up on the Legendary Map Pack.
Nice shots!
Nice work, maybe he'll do requests with my own in game shots
@NitrousO: they did, with the Legendary Pack, you can add all sorts of neat, (mostly) utterly useless* filters to the levels via Forge's editor. You place them on the map like an other object.
* Beyond the initial 'wow' factor, that is.
@Mpalm.: Those are all very clearly in-game shots. The doctoring comes in the form of filters and effects.
Ah, these are the kind of graphics that made me fall in love with the third game.
I don't care what the haters say, Halo 3 is a beautiful vibrant game.
All in-game probably. Pretty impressive on the largest sizing, too. The pics posted here didn't do much for me, at first.
"too bad..." -shut up.
Those are some damn fine pics.
Photoshop does wonders.
looks like regual ingame pictures, then using an effect like this: [livingwithstyle.com]
@ph15h needs followers: No, it's not like that. That's actually what halo 3 on the PC will look like.
Awesome. The fine details reminds me of the Killzone Trailers. I wonder why? =X
People think these are good? Wow. Make me rethink the virtual photography project I had going with Halo 3. I abandoned it because I didn't think the images were up to par even without using Photoshop. But if people like this stuff, DAMN, I could be a millionaire.
so beautiful. i have a tear drop in my eye
Seriously, why do people compare Halo 3 to Halo 2 when it comes to graphics? I played through Halo 2 directly before I started 3 and the difference is astronomical, admittedly it's not Gears of War but not many games are, and Gears was a shock to everyone when it came to the 360's capabilities. Halo is a good looking, fun game that was over-hyped thanks to Microsoft's spin machine. there are very few games that have given me as much playtime per £ this generation of consoles. /rant
Sigh...every time I see someone claim that photoshop does everything I die a little on the inside. Photoshop is nothing more than a tool, no different than a paintbrush. You can't take an ingame shot, press "filter" and the picture is instantly beautiful. Try it sometime, and don't hold your breath. It takes legitimate talent to create something in photoshop, or to even edit something to look this good. If you don't believe me, just read up on Donato Giancola or Justin Sweet, or Phil Hale...I could go on, but you get the point.
Also, kudos to the artist(s?) that made these pics...excellent work, and don't stop! Personal favorite is the blue spartans in the snow.
Screenshots and edits like this pop up quite frequently.
I would love some hi-res versions of those. Pretty please?
I played a game of zombies on H3 tonight using some of those filters to simulate daylight/dusk/nighttime changes. Wow, at night, you couldn't see anything but the glow of the zombie's swords lumbering at you. It was pretty creepy and effective at evoking tension.
@PhantomVI: no fuckin shit huh? He read the minature tutorial on some photoshop site. What makes him so special?
All he's done is altered the levels and played around with the blur. No offense to him, but it's hardly anything more than photoshop photography 101.
In most cases the blur is completetly OTT as well.
Okay guys, we get it. Everyone's who's commented could out Photoshop this guy. Now can we all just get over it and just enjoy the pretty pictures?
Hey, people download Zombie Classic and B&W Zombies (need Leg for the map) and lemme know how it plays. (infection of course)
Anyway enough of MY whoring. Those do look good, wish Halo has as many effects.
In the first pic, if the spartan at the back was a little closer it would look like the front one was being done from behind..
You know.. just to point it out for you.
I'm not sure why everyone is so impressed, it's just a load of adjustment layers topped off with some poor use of apply image + blur. : /
if only he had done it for a game that actually was fun
@.digiwalsh: He's also taken a lot of excellently framed and composed pictures.
wish he had uploaded higher rez pics, these would make awsome backrounds.
Ooooh very pretty indeed.
that just looks like regular halo 3 with the legendary map pack filters on. I guess this just goes to show people that Halo 3 actually looks pretty?
@Captain Impulse:
Yes, but the doctoring is what makes it look decent.
For all the people who are bashing this guy and saying how simple it is, why not throw up a link to a gallery of your own stuff? It must be quite impressive...
On a side note, these pictures reminded me of this:
[pascalblanche.deviantart.com]
Also looks like action figures.
ooo looks like its new wallpaper day!
@hamandcheeseUK:
it looks like "surprise buttsecks" to me.
This is what I love about Halo 3. These are all in-game shots, captured through the magic of saved films. The one with the Raptors and the one with the marine on the side of the Pelican is from the mission with the 3 shield towers, just with the perspective changed with the saved films tool.
Halo 4 is out???? Where? What? Oh, you foolin me...I'm going back to sleep....zzzzz
As a photoshop junkie myself, these are nice. :3
I like a few of these, though a bunch are rather disconcerting as the depth of field effect is ruined when the blur is in the wrong place...
I gotta say, it's a great concept for playing with screenshots from the game, and I'm going to have to try it... (ha, as though I will ever actually get around to it).

That Image is straight from a tv in a Halo 3 replay. To check out some cool halo 3 pics just look at the bungie favorites. They have some awesome pics there.
