I went up to Denver today to tape some segments for X-Play about GTA 4. One or two, like the one above, will be popping up online tonight but the bulk of it will be showing up on their one hour special about the game tonight. If you want to turn it into a drinking game, take a drink every time I say GTA and TEN drinks when I accidentally refer to Rockstar's game as Gran Turismo. Smoooooooth move Brian. In my defense, or maybe theirs, neither N'Gai Croal nor Adam Sessler seemed to notice the mistake.

Comments
Adam Sessler: So, you guys like the game?
N'Gai Croal: Yep.
Crecente: Yep. Grand Turismo FTW!
::Adam and N'Gai are too distracted by re-living the strip club scenes over and over::
One would think Mr. Sessler would be more excited to be talking to Jesus.
I regularly fumble my Grand Theft Auto and Gran Turismo when hyping to my friends.
It's always great when your friends call you after buying GT Prologue and whining that they can't get out of their car to steal the one next to theirs. Oops...
N'Gai and Crescente together, It was like watching Hair Idol!
Nice clip indeed. And you can see Sessler's jealousy of the legendary Crecente hair. :p
@Cruithne: hahahaha
What, Jason Priestley wasn't available?
So. Much. Hair.
now i'm pondering what the hell could rockstar do for add ons.
hmmm extended gameplay?
expand the city even more!?
well i hope rockstar does something cool with HOME at least. =)
I will have to DVR the special. I tryied setting it to record only NEW X-Plays but it keeps doing them ALL! Do you know how many times a day that show is on? Between that and AOTS I am surprised that they have time for Ninja Warrior.....
Man, I still can't decide what version I'm going to get. I already have the PS3 special edition pre-ordered, but damn, I'm still going back and forth.
Im so excited for this game! My 360 is just back from repair and tonight I will be playing Mario Kart up until midnight.
Its nice to have a gamecrazy a few hundred feet from my house. Especially considering I should be quite drunk by that time.
@FullyShadow:
There is a rumor floating about they are designing an entire city for the DLC.
A new one that is.
@Cruithne:
ROFL! Oh man.. so submitting that for comments of the week.
I honestly didn't hear the mistake either. No worries Brian! :)
You do bring up a good point regarding the DLC. How is that going to sway anyone to a particular system if they don't even know what they're getting? It's like an infomercial with an "order now and get a free mystery gift!"
If I could hope for certain DLC, I think it would be the ability to stream your own music in place of the game's; the GTA radio is interesting...for about ten minutes.
I swear, I never heard you say Gran Turismo! I've done it a few times though!
Far too stoked for this game - I know it is going to replace my Call of Duty habit for a long time
i still despise Sessler but good job there Brian We should steal some Deloreans from GT and go 88 miles per hour in GTA maybe we'll time travel.
@Cogito:
True. But it's R*. What are the odds they aren't going to release something awesome in terms of DLC? Especially when it cost MS $50 million, they must know what it is and were more than willing to pay for it.
Sure it will boost some sales for them, but they are counting on the sales down the road when the DLC hits more.
Thank you Brian for making the point that you can't convince the buyer to be swayed to purchase a product based on intangibles.
Obviously the downloadable content could be incredibly significant... But how will we know until we can play it?
@Cogito: The 360 can still play music from the dashboard(guide menu). Or are you meaning tie the music on your HD to the in-game soundtrack?
HOLY SHIT!
It's pronounced "cre-ent-tei"!?!?
Well, I stand corrected now sir!!
@ShaggE: WOW, you are right. While watching the clip I expected the band Warrant, and Don King to come out for a Hair Battle Royal! The first one that gets pinned, Sessler shaves their head to make himself a wig.
@sascha23: lol me too, I have done it at least 6 times in the last week on forum posts that, luckily, I could edit.
Don't feel bad, Brian. Being on TV is hard. :(
@rochec: it will sure boost sales but!
the question is..will many people download it?
after all big hits are coming this fall and thats also the release date for the first episodic content.
should be interesting.
Crecente make valid point on which version was the best. Like if you are a hardcore PS3 supporter then nothing is gonna sway your purchase and that some kind of information should of been offered into the eclusive content that 360 owners will be getting. I also agree that MS is really marketing this this hard and you know what that means....it will sell millions on the 360 alone. Quick note: My lil bro is a Sony fanboy to the core and yet he is getting a 360 for his birthday in two days and is getting the 360 version if not just to get the DLC. I almost didn't believe him when he told me this yesterday. I guess the SONY fans just lost anothone to MS.
@Cogito: The DLC is also likely very far off. If it's as large as they try to say, it could be more than 6 months before we ever see the DLC.
And just a tip, in the last sentence, 'theres' should be 'theirs', I believe.
@sascha23: Hilarious! I fumble those two up as well. In fact just a couple days ago my friend was telling me about how much he wanted to get the game using the acronym GTA and for some reason I totally thought GT5. I didn't even realize it until about 10 minutes later...
I was watching that clip in anticipation of the Gran Turismo blurb. Guess I'll actually have to set my DVR to record that show... that way I can fast forward through any part not directly involving this topic.
@Cogito: We have to remember that Sony has always sold fanboys the promise of the future "better things to come" and it all ways seems to work for them...lol
@Cruithne:
Hilarious!!! Hahahah.
@FullyShadow: hahahahah hahahahah hahahahah hah hahahah hahaha lol...OMG...you are too funny...Home...like THAT will ever release...what did Sony push it to now? New Beta next Summer? full release 2012 in the PS4's last year on the market FTW!!!
No really I do hope it has some integration worth mentioning...we need to find out from Home beta testers tomorrow to see if it is enabled already.
Great points about PS2 owners waiting for this on PS3 to push them to buy the PS3 and the DLC. I hope both consoles see a bump in hardware sales. It's nice to hear a pleasant PS3/360 discussion instead of the usual fanboyism.

Has anyone noticed the Question Poll on the X-Play site...Oh dear
Is it just me, or does Sessler always seem so nerdy that he almost comes off like he's piss ass drunk and trying really hard to be intelligent? I mean, the guy's pretty cool, (I actually think he's the only thing G4 has going for it) but for some reason I see him mumbling to himself with a bottle of scotch in between tapings.
0:15-0:18 is a goldmine.
It wasn't too "fascinating", I don't really believe DLC will be a tipping scale unless major multiplayer components are added; then the 8-12 month exclusivity is quite a long time.
Rockstar will not shoot itself in the foot by abandoning ps3 owners with a new exclusive multiplayer mode for only MSFT.
MSFT already knew the 50 mil paid off when come april 29th, many customers will spend 200 mini stickers for a gamerpicture, themes, yada yada. Million^fanbase+1/100 Live-rs spending minimum of 200 mini sticker+ However, most people buying at least 800 mini stickers in one transaction= Minimal loss if not even out
The episodic content is just a one big whammy.
I think you meant to say: In my defense, or maybe theirs,...
I dun think I can read Kotaku after seeing Brian on X-Play...
Crecente you looked pretty nervous. N`Gai did in an opposite sense where he was sitting way too still.
Great stuff tho!
@JorgieX: @JorgieX: Rule two and five working together I see. Oh well.
On a more positive note, Crecente's hair was as fabulous as ever.
I like N'Gai but everytime I see him I think Battlefield Earth. You gonna kill me N'Gai? I already made copies of it! You know you taught me better than that. [img5.allocine.fr]
@Fallible: Agreed about the hair. It is still one of the finest.
At what time did he mention GT? :S
I think Vamp, i mean....Brian hit the nail on the head. MS SHOULD be shouting from the hilltops about what the DLC consists of if they want some extra sales.
And i totally agree that PS3 hardware sales will go through the roof in the next couple of weeks. Two friends are coming with me when i pick up the game tomorrow, and they have the PS3/GTA4 hardware bundles reserved for them.
Two less friends to play with on live however, i'm getting the 360 version.
@Fuga: I think it's in a segment hitting TV.
Woot. I finally figured out my darn pass after so long. I just moved down to Colorado from California and pumped(sp?) to live near the all mighty Brian C! Wow, I never commented since Oct 07? Jeez. Well, you did good on xplay Brian and Im sorry to miss that Mario Kart License thingy in downtown Denver.
But back to topic, Im going to try to pick it up at Best Buy in Lone Tree, CO. I was
Dammit, got cut off.
Yeah mix those two up quite often. I also once referred to Metal Slug Solid! :D
@JorgieX:
MS has to market GTA hard. For all accounts and purposes GTA is basically a Sony game and thats how a lot of people see it. But not only that, MS is practically dead in the water until November in terms of mega releases. They're trying to hype this game as much as they can to fill in and tide them over until the GoW2 release.
On a side not, I freaking love N'Gai. He always seems to know what hes talking about and relates things in a realistic view. Definitely one of my favorite journalists. Don't worry Brian, you're up there too ;)
@JorgieX: Number of people asked?? its not really worthy of anything if its less than at least 10,000 people..
@CitizenInsane27: I get that, too. I detect slurring. Cool guy, though.
What's with the one car in every clip? Oh well.
@Erwin: ....XD you sir, made my night!
I tried growing out my hair but deemed too difficult. Damn you Crecente & N'Gai for having those long locks! *shakes fist* I still love you guys.
To be honest, you even told me about the Grand Turismo thing and I failed to catch it.
I was too busy watching the graphics and gameplay on screen, maybe? I don't know.
Sounded like a good interview, and certainly good questions and very valid answers.
What exactly is in the DLC? For 50 million, one would assume it's big. But really, wouldn't you wish to give those details if it really were so awesome?
i love mr.sessler's voice, it's like a frog croaking quietly whilst an old man rubs a ruler against a plastic comb. delightful!
anyway for something that potentially could be seen as 'system wars' talk, this was well done, congratulations to all!
@Cruithne: LOL - brilliant!
It was pretty cool seeing Crescente's hair in real life... er, I mean on video.
And now I can use Crescente's real voice in my head when I'm reading his posts instead of the movie guy's. Of course, the articles will be less dramatic, but so be it.
Ah fun times, I like Sessler.
And of course I love N'Gai Croal, the man is a 'legend'.
Crecente, not so much :P
Joke, of course.
Gonna have to DVR it, I promised my lady some time tonight since im picking GTA up after work tomorrow.
@rawg: you should find the stuff that Adam (the intern) is making for the site. the kotaku kake guide and the mario kart one. friggin funny =p
Two systems enter, One system may leave.
I call for a battle to the death: 360 vs PS3.
Kumate! Kumate! Kumate!
cool very cool i think thats the first video btw that showed actual car damage ingame. thats pretty freaking sweet man.... man im going to the midnight launch today its going to be soo WILD
Brian Crescente is on television now! This is the exact reason (no joke) why I think of these guys as famous, and so any response from them in the comments blows me away. Congrats!
i cant wait till this gta4 talk is over.
