Here it is! What's apparently the English-language Dragonball poster, which has the tag:
The Legend Comes To Life 2009
It's not terrible. Maybe the trailer won't suck! Maybe this will be a decent movie!! Who knows?

ugh....(thinks)...ugh.
At least the poster is awesome...
Not gonna lie, if it weren't for the text up top I'd probably buy one.
or maybe it won't.
most likely it won't..
Hmm well it's not a bad poster since it doesn't show any of the characters so that's redeeming. Though I could do with the legend never coming to life, I think that would make me feel a lot better.
That's not a bad poster
I thought the legend came to life in The Forbidden Kingdom.
So wait. Dragonball is about a ball? That (presumably) contains a dragon?
Is that how it works?
Cool. I'm glad they're starting with DragonBall and not DBZ, at least I'm assuming that's what that means. Probably just to make room for sequels (DBZ, GT, etc..)
I'm cautiously optimistic about the movie, despite everything looking terribly bad so far
@Spoony Bard: It's about an 11 year old who sets off on a journey to capture monsters inside balls. He then battles them to become the master.
I just dont see how this is going to be a good movie without a huge CGI budget. But heres hoping to be proven wrong.
"Maybe this will be a decent movie!!" I had no idea you had such a sense of humor, Bash. lol
Have any of you seen the more recent set pics? There really are no words to describe.
@Spoony Bard:
From wikipedia:
"The Dragon Balls are seven magical stones scattered across the Earth that when gathered, can summon Shenron who will grant the summoner a single wish within his supernatural power, including but not limited to, reviving a person who had died of unnatural causes, provided that the person's death occurred within one year prior the summon."

The poster and title font kinda look like it's some extreme sport. Like Rollerball. Except with dragons. Personally, I think that would be one hell of a movie.
Oh dear god. Save us now.
@mphz:
You're right, but it's not like you're seeing the movie as it will show up on screen. If you too a snapshot of pre production, or even shooting scenes from most movies they'd look nothing like the finished work. I'm not saying they didn't look bad, I'm just saying don't judge the movie based on what little we have so far, which amounts to so very little.
Casting on the other hand is another thing....

Even the poster looks cheesy.
"We need a poster, and fast! Put a dragonball and... some... clouds... and... Lightning! The kids will love it!"
Seriously, that poster sucks.
I'm 99% sure the movie is going to suck....but I'm still going to see it ASAP. I can't fucking help it.
I prey that they don't screw this movie up. I though the Transformers movie was good at least as good as you could exspect but the dragonball z series is so over the top I hope it doesn't look to computer generated like the last Matrix flying battle at the end. It did look cool when they weren't close up but when the action was upclose it look so CG that it turned me off. Could it be that I have the HD-DVD versions and a 50" 1080p TV and I can see every pixel?
It's sad because... I PRAYED for a dragonball movie ever when i was a kid. Like, I remember reading up on movie rumours on random fan sites...
Why couldn't the movie have come out then? I'd be so much happier :(
@JorgieX: There's no flying in dragonball they use nimbus rite?
This movie is gonna be utterly amazing! Citizen Kane eat your heart out!
This movie will either be A) totally completely awesome, due to the amazing power of producer stephen chow, or B) Completely, utterly fail due to the extreme suckage of James Wong. Seriously, Final Destinatuion 3? The One? These credits do not a good film make.
I thought the poster looked bad. Like, 1995 straight-to-VHS bad. Or perhaps the cover art for a Metal band.
As for the movie: it's like every other live-action adaptation of a cartoon -- unnecessary.
Apparently I'm in the minority. Not that it matters, because I will pay to see it. Those bastards, preying on my sick curiosity and nostalgia. Why not make a live action version of Exo Squad while you're at it? The trailer can premier before G.I. Joe.
@Guitaratomik: My thoughts exactly.
[i23.photobucket.com]
I wonder if they will go all Super Sayian 3 in the movie...?
@Schoolimangooli: Now that i think about it when did they learn to fly? at the start of DBZ they didn't fly, they "jumped" hardcore, like VROOOOOOM speed. Or Goku jumped in the air doing a move. But on namek they were flying.
holy mind**** why do i know this stuff and i haven't seen the thing in 5+ years :(
I will watch it if Samual L Jackson is in it as the most powerful thing ever in ever
A "good movie" based on a video game...
Good luck with that.
i got so much crap for liking dragon balls
im like NO its Dragon ball Z moron.
lol.
I just wanna know if I am going to get to see a little kid flying on a cloud with an extendo pole fighting nazis (red ribbon army).
but anyways... Hey Iron Man comes out friday :D
> Maybe the trailer won't suck! Maybe this will be a decent movie!!
I hear there are pigs. They might fly.
@avconsumer: you forgot 'which is based on a anime"
considering i was addicted when i was like 11 or 12 or something like that i can't not see this movie.
I'm sad that GI Joe is coming to theaters and not SST3 :( well they bombed SST2 so bad i can understand why :(
and on topic : I don't think the poster sucks, but its not great. It's cool they did the 4 star ball as thats the main one of the store iirc.
@LittleBigPlaneteer: Touche. I agree with you on the casting as well. Chatwin does look as goofy-faced as Goku does.. but the fact that he's flesh-and-blood, and not ink, is disturbing. And the hair.. My God... the hair. *tremor*
I do wish Toriyama-san would revive the series.
To everyone's chagrin, it's actually the touching tale of Don "The Dragon" Wilson battling testicular cancer while making ends meet with shitty, low-budget action movies. Starring Christopher Lambert and Diane Keaton.
i cannot wait for this, ill like it even if it does suck
I can't wait!
@JorgieX:
They probably won't even go supersaiyan at all. It's Dragonball, not DBZ.
@Schoolimangooli: No they actually flied with out the nimbus cloud. Is this based on the Dragonball or the Dragonball Z series. Let's not even think they are basing it on the DBZ GT series because by that time most of the charactors were gods...! LOL
Its not very good but its ok, lets hope this movie to be a good surprise!
@LittleBigPlaneteer: Oh ok so we might get the Giant Money then since from what I remember that was the most powerful state Goku reached in the begining, right? lol
Ah, I can see it now...
Scenes 1-50, take 1: "Aaaaaaaaaa..." etc., etc., etc.
They shouldn't have written "Dragonball". Not much of a teaser poster that way.
@Zaos: They all learned to fly within the 10th to 14th book, so basically between the 2nd and 3rd Martial Arts Tournament. It was originally Ten Shin Han ( Tien ) and Chaozu's technique.
God, I'm such a nerd.
The poster looks great, but I am almost sure the movie will be poor.
Why...
Ugh, that's a pretty terrible poster. Not entirely surprising, though, given the expected level of quality of the movie.
@Zaos:
Actually, although Goku couldn't fly at the beginning of DBZ Picollo could. Goku was finally able to fly after his training at Master Kai's place. By the time Vegeta and Nappa had arrived on Earth 1 year after the beginning of DBZ everyone could fly. (except maybe gohan, I don't remember too well)
