With less than five days until their game hits, Rockstar couldn't help but tease one more time with this vid of Niko getting all touchy, shooty in the rain.

Oh brian I C what u did there with the title!
fantastic teaser!!!
What was the tag to filter out GTA news?. I got tempted and posted in one of the polls today .
I imported to a new browser yet it fails to recognize all my bookmarks :/.
I lasted couple of weeks, I can last 5 more days. At this point, all I know is that the multiplayer is /palmface.
Fucking awesome. I didn't think I could be more psyched for GTA4, but I was wrong. Bring it!
I love the fact that they've used one of Aphex Twin's ambient tunes for this trailer. Top notch!
wow I'm sooo looking forward to GTA 4:D
I like this video the best
@Fyren: [kotaku.com]
My anticipation for this game only increases, and I didn't think that was possible.
Don't worry Niko I'll arrive in Liberty City soon and i'll help you out of this back.
Note to self: Must find kind soul for
Niko.
Brilliant tune aswell!! I bought that when it first came out!! excellent choice I hope thats on one of the radio stations
+10 for use of selected ambient works 2 era aphex twin.
how much more awesome could this game be?!?
I'm just curious if there'll be an ambient/chill out radio channel where they'll actually play this tune? It would be kinda awkward running into people to this tune...but then again, why not?
Just a bit longer.......
@Cchrist: back = mess dunno why i typed back.
I keep hearing that this guy is the best protagonist in video game history, and I believe it.
I can already see myself actually feeling a bit wrong about going on rampages, just because it seems like it'd be so out of character for a guy like Niko.
I like this one alot better than all the other trailers/teasers. Come on Tuesday.
is it "normal" if that video gave me a hard on?
@Zeliard:
I agree. I think he could become as well known in gaming circles as Master Chief, Snake and......other ones....hehe
He's already a great character in my eyes, and i haven't even played the game yet!
Aphex Twin background track for the win! After reading the IGN review for this game I'm pretty pumped, even though I've never finished a GTA game before. I like how this new one has characters concerned with more than just getting power, but who actually have souls and anguish over their choices. Great trailer.
wow..just woow..
Gorgeous!
Grrrrr. Do want. RIGHT NOW.
Tovarish Niko, sometimes bad tings happen to good peoples, sometimes bad tings need make on bad peoples. Kak zhal Niko, is vostochnie obeshenniya.
I am more jazzed for this game...more so than any other game in years.
Sweet.
I'm kinda confused.. what's the point of browsing kotaku with the no gta4 tag thing when you still see gta4 related news?
It doesn't bother me all that much but still..
impressed.
God damn... this has probably been the best trailer I've seen for the game so far. Can't wait for it to arrive at my door step :D
Honestly about 3 weeks ago, I could really care less about GTAIV. I've played all of them (except SA, which I own, but have never started it), but for some reason this one just didn't get me excited.
Enter the Kotaku Hype machine.
Coming here everyday and seeing a new GTAIV post and reading everyone's comments, and seeing just how pumped everyone (for the most part) is about this game, has just got me in the mood for some Grand Theft Auto! I think Rockstar owes Kotaku some $$$. If it wasn't for this website, I probably wouldn't even think about picking this game up. Now, I can't think of another game I'd rather play!
Selected Ambient Works = win. I was disappointed by the lack of a Drum n Bass radio station ( GTA III/ MSX 101.1 ) but I think The Journey will more than make up for it.
This video shows of the lighting very well, along with a few other effects.
SONY..will you please update the flash player in the PS3 browser so i can watch videos on the net!!!!!!
What does he actually say at the end?
"Doesn't have a ..."
I can't make it out.
@Cat-Duck:
"Doesn't have a soul"
;)
less than five days? More like less than three.
Soul.
"I could really care less"
No you couldn't >_< that is not the antonym!
Pedantry aside, GTA4 looks very good, and I can only hope it is eventually released for the PC.
I wasn't psyched for this game until 2 weeks ago, now I'm glad I wasn't because even the wait for Tuesday is killing me.
Strange. This is also the first GTA after GTA2 that I buy for a console.
Stuff! Awesome! Want!
Does the lightning actually look that good in game, or was that an editing trick? Because I thought I saw real time lighting effects.
If you're getting it at a midnight release, the trick is to think of that fateful day not as Tuesday, but rather as Monday night.
And Monday, friends, is the day after tomorrow.
...Well, dammit.
@PapaBear434: The lighting engine in GTA4 is absurdly powerful, and it is indeed completely dynamic and in real-time, and seems to affect every object individually. I believe the lighting and the Euphoria animation is what will most impress people on a technical level. The draw distance and particle effects are also spectacular, from what I've seen.
And of course, the detail is on a level that we've never come close to seeing, and on a very large scale. The game is, quite simply, graphically amazing on both a technical and artistic level. Graphics should be the last problem anyone has with the game, which is odd for a GTA game, but that's a part of what makes this one so special.
Is it just me or did the music sound like it was ripped from Pixel Junk Monsters?
First Fela Kuti, now Aphex Twin?
If anything, R* have solid taste in music.
Holy Fuck
Aphex Twin + Grand Theft Auto IV = Pure Win
@Zeliard: Haha, that's exactly what I keep saying to myself!
I think late last night I actually contemplated getting a whole buttload of Nyquil and just comatosing myself until Monday.
this teaser has a sort of beauty to it.. You dont know how tempted i was in work holding a spec edition in my hand to lose my job over taking it.... I still am I have work at 5.
*squeeeeeeee*
I've never spent more than 2 minutes in a single gta title, but this game is going to own my soul. From what I have read the interaction with the city is going to be amazing. The more I read about how alive liberty city is the more impressed I am. I just read the lengthy IGN review and am itching to get my hands on this. Thank god for amazon prime service.
nothing short of perfection...
@Hyperlite: San Andreas was to me, the best GTA so far. Which makes me really look forward to GTA IV.
Game trailers are getting pretty awesome at the moment... that rocked!
The more I see these videos, the more I realize that I don't just want the game, I want...no, need...the expanded dl content that will be available on the 360 version.
i hope this isn`t as hyped as assassins creed and then fail to deliver.
Lovely. Aphex Twin, was it? That's interesting, the music reminded me of Ico. The save point music, I think it was.
@Islandkiwi: I agree. I've seen many people attempt to trivialize the DLC by saying something to the effect of "well, I never really cared about the story in the past GTAs and I never finished the games, so more content doesn't appeal to me."
I have a feeling it's going to be quite different when it comes to GTAIV. I think people will want to see where Niko's story goes and what he's really all about. Rockstar's made many clear efforts to head in a deeper, more dramatic and realistic direction with the series, starting with this entry. If the DLC builds on that in any way, that's enough for me.
@Bernard McGraw:
The ICO save music is one of my favorite game music tracks of all time. Many people like that game, as do I, and I must say it is one of the few games to ever move me emotionally in a direction other than "fuck yeah I just killed that dood!". I don't say that in a bad way honestly, I've had plenty of strong emotional moments playing fighting games and shooters, it was just refreshing.
The soundtrack had a lot to do with it. If you liked the game and haven't had a listen to it, I highly recommend it. Here's the Wikipedia for the composer:
