When the gang at MTV Multiplayer sniffed around some Microsoft job listings earlier this week, confirming that the publisher was staffing up for one of the two Peter Jackon backed "entertainment experiences," some concernedly stuttered "Bu-bu-but, what about Bungie?" Oh, they're fine with it, informs the Bungie Weekly Update. Community man Frankie O'Connor says that "having worked with him already, we are possibly more excited than you are to see what someone of Peter Jackson's imagination, talent and resources can bring to a Halo game experience."
Bungie is said to "continue to remain very much involved in multiple aspects the Halo Universe as part of our ongoing relationship with Microsoft", teasing that one of their in-progress projects will be revealed "in the very near future." Perhaps it's that Halo prequel that EGM taunted us with? Is it the future yet?!?

Sorry to say, folks, but it seems that Bungie's been brought in and they've been put in charge of the "Library Sequence".
I'm starting to let the idea of a sequel in third-person stew in my mind a little more, and I'm liking the possibilities every minute. Namely, I'm imagining Spartan training on Reach.
With that, they wouldn't need much shooter elements until later in the game, but they'd need some platformer experience...
I hope Bungie is working on an original title for their sake.
Cant wait to see what it is.
@DigitalHero:
What company makes original titles anymore?
I'm about to pick up the 6th Mario Kart, the 11th GTA, and probably picking up Madden #20, GH #5,6, and 7(If DS counts!), and more titles this year.
It's not that I don't play games that aren't part of a series, but most "good games" start to get boring after 2 or 3 of them :(
IE: Katamari Damacy.
I hate Halo but this might be good..
Peter Jackson does have a few great movies: Braindead (DeadAlive), and Bad Taste
As long as "OMG TeH ARe MILKZING TEH HALOZ"!1 doesn't start I'm happy. I'll start slamin zelda (cough 2500 versions)
@snk429: Ah, Halo posts. If it's not outright flames, there's at least the "I hate Halo but..." prefaces. Means a lot to know that, really.
Interesting Bungie didn't kill the EGM rumor outright. And thats a mad dumb Hornet I see there.
@snk429:
The Frighteners too- its my favorite Michael J. Fox film. Yeah, I like it better than Back to the Future. Blasphemy, I know :)
@DigitalHero: What the hell? How much money did Halo cash in? What do you mean 'for their sakes'...?
I think you ment for OUR sakes ;)
@Snuffbox: Hey, The Frighteners is a favorite of mine, too, although I think Doc Hollywood may be my favorite M. J. Fox movie.
On topic, I think Bungie will retain enough creative control so that things don't get too far outta hand. But it also sounds like they've got a pretty good idea of what P.J. has in mind, so I don't think the integrity and consistency of the Halo universe is in any danger.
As someone else said though, if this is to be a prequel title, how prominently will "Halo" actually fit into the mythos, since before H1, the ringworlds were unknown to the UNSC.
I'm still hoping for a game where I can play as the Covenant, and not just the Arbiter.
"Coming Soon: Halo: Grunt Wars. I'd buy that in a heartbeat. Food nipples for everyone!
From the hints Bungie have dropped about their next project. It seems to be something entirely new.
I like Peter Jackon. I like him better than that Peter Jackson guy. He is getting on my nerve with that overhyped Halo thing ...
