So, yeah, it's happening. Next week, Grand Theft Auto IV goes on sale in North America and Europe. Some people will buy it. Some people won't. The TUD Giraffe is curious and wants to know. We've got a feature here on Kotaku called "Tell Us Dammit" or "TUD." How it works: We ask a question, you answer it. Simple and no strings attached! This isn't some marketing survey or whatever. It's an emotional investment in you. Yes, we're interesting in knowing you, Kotaku reader person. You probably know fucktons about us — more than you even want to, we're sure. But, hey, we'd like to know about you. That way you won't be some faceless blob — and we might feel a tinge of guilt when we ban your ass. Or not, because really we're incapable of human emotion. Whichever! Today's question is a two-parter:
Questions: Are you going to buy GTA IV on the 29th? If so, are you buying the Xbox 360 or the PS3 version?
Me? Since I live in Japan, I'll be importing. Though, I still have decided which one I'm going to order...

I'll be playing my roommates PS3 version; I blew my GTA fund on some new books :P
But then I'm getting it for my 360.
Im gonna have to go with the 360 version.
360 GTA... I really don't know a single person who owns a PS3, and I need me some multiplayer.
I'm buying the PS3 version because actually I just sold my Xbox 360 over the past weekend. I figured I like the PS3 exclusives more, and the multi-platform games are, for the most part, the same games. And yes I understand the 360 is getting some exclusive DLC, but I can live without it.
So yeah. PS3 for me.
Since I just last week entered the current gen by buying a PS3, I pretty much have no choice.
360 GTA all for the xbox live, DLC, and that's what my friends are getting.
360 version no questions asked.
Reasons:
The controller feels better.
Xbox live.
Everyone I know is getting it on the 360.
Exclusive DLC.

Certainly getting it. Going to go with the 360 version for the multiplayer (more friends of Live).
I actually don't own either system. So whichever system I buy first is the one I'll buy it for (I'm guessing PS3, since I plan on buying the console the moment MGS4 comes out).
PS3 version, It runs smoother, loads quicker, and has better FSAA.
360 version. Preordered mine months ago, best way to purchase, I don't understand why anyone would go into a store nowadays.

360 It's the only system I have but if I did have a PS3 I would still get it on 360 seeing as most of my fans have a 360 and achievements/DLC put it over the top for me.

Going with the 360. DLC, Live, etc. Just makes more sense.

Once the PC version comes out, that'll be my main GTA.
I dont care about Episodic content or Multiplayer, GTA PC Mods > console exclusives :P

I like the Dualshock more than the 360 controller, and I don't give a damn about the DLC (Since it will most likely be insignificant). I'm getting the PS3 version.
I'm purchasing the Xbox 360 version since neither my friends or I own Ps3's.

I have to use it for something other than Rock Band.
Getting the ps3 version kind of sad cause of the lack of dlc but ign says the ps3 version looks better so small consolation.

360, that's what most of my friends will be buying it on. Probably going to buy it local unless the UK version is region-free.
PS3 since I don't have a 360. But I'm more curious to see what folks with both will choose. Acording to Ign the ps3 has less popins and faster loads, but the 360 has that DLC coming in the fall.
360 version, one regular and one special edition. The SE version will stay unopened and sold or traded at a later date.

Is the 360 version region encoded? If not, I'll have to go for that. Otherwise I'll just end up waiting for the Japanese launch.
Xbox 360 for me, essentially because I don't have a PS3, but additionally for the achievements.
360. I don't own a ps3 anyway, but even if I did I'd probably get it for the 360 anyway because the controller is way more ergonomic, and the DLC.

So for all the marketers and analysts for Rockstar watching (cuz I know you are) I won't be getting this game at all until the price comes down. I don't want to deal with the hassle of which to get until I know what this DLC is supposed to be.
By then the hype will go down and I may not ever get it then because I will have seen soo many people play it on tv and at friends houses that I'll feel like I've had my fill with the game.
Just like every other GTA since 3 , I will have to play the game through the eyes of other players.

360 cause I want to get the downloadable content, when it comes out, and I'm not ready to invest in a PS3.

I've pre-ordered the PS3 version simply because I don't own a 360.
The DLC does sound cool, but I'm in no mood to buy another console. Besides, if the DLC turns out to be that unfathomably good, I'll just mooch off of my roomamte who has a 360.

Was going to buy the GTAIV SE for 360 but swtiched it to the GTAIV SE for PS3 since my 360 has RRoDed.
Own both systems, but probably going to go with the 360 for this one. The DLC is attractive, especially as I'm always "that guy." Y'know, the one who plays through all of GTA's story instead of just wrecking s**t up? More story later is a huge plus for me.
Also, I find the 360's controller far more comfortable than the PS3's. Not a lot of people really seem to be taking this into account, but think about it. If you're going to have your hands wrapped around a controller for a crazy long period of time, wouldn't you rather it be the more comfortable one?
Final reason? Things just always seem to run a bit smoother on 360. Whenever I've tried multiplatform it just seems like the PS3 comes off a bit worse off. It's a great system when the game has been designed primarily for it, but if that's not the case it usually has the inferior version.
Of course, I could always be swayed by a comparison feature that puts the PS3 a fair bit above the 360 performance-wise. I'll probably have to wait a week or so after release anyway as the Future Shop I'll be buying from never seems to have stuff on time.
