Next week's downloadable content additions to Harmonix's Rock Band have been announced on the official forums. They'll go for the standard $1.99 USD or 160 Microsoft Points, depending on your platform of choice, and will give you one more chance to see if you can vocally outperform Billy Corgan. It almost seems unfair to actually grade players on the singing portions of Smashing Pumpkins songs, doesn't it? Anyway, the line-up is...
- Smashing Pumpkins - "Zero"
- The Mother Hips - "Red Tandy"
- The Mother Hips - "Time Sick Son of a Grizzly Bear"
DLC, week of April 29th - three singles [Rock Band Forums]

meh, Thanks goodness for GTA
Yikes! That man has obviously smashed one pumpkin too many in his day.
And the metal pack...?
It's an adjective, not a verb.
Zero is an amazing song, BUT with a little game called GTA I might as well trade in rock band.
Excellent. I was just listening to Mellon Collie the other day and remarking that I'd like to see more Pumpkins in Rock Band.
Yay for Zero! That's one of my favs from them. The rest of the download songs, not too much. I can take a break from GTA4 for a bit to play Rock Band.
god dammit, why? why put out Zero on the day GTA comes out? why not last week?
god dammit.
by the way, nice shot of Billy there.
Hooray! Zero should be fun to play. Really can't wait for Doolittle to come down the pipe, though. I luffs me some Pixies!
Thanks, Kotaku, for reminding me just how scary Corgan looks.
Hell yeah, Zero!
I need as much Pumpkins as possible. Preferably more from Gish and Siamese dream.
You know what, just give me both of those as full albums.
@Moridin:
The pixies are so awesome. I'm right there with you.
WOO more pumpkins to play over my buddy's house :D
I need to get back into the Pumpkins, haven't listened to 'em for a good while now.
SHEEEEEEEEE'S THE ONEEEEEEEEE FOR MEEEEEEE, SHE'S ALL I REALLY NEED, OH, YES!
I have a certain group of friends that hate Billy Corgan and Smashing Pumpkins all together. The main complaint is that he's a pretentious idiot. I have no idea why either..
Besides coming from the same highschool as him, just 20 some years later, I can't imagine having any basis on which to compare themselves to him. They're mostly music majors, but they're not musicians.
Personally, I like the song, but I probably won't even remember to pick it up. I'm more excited about the upcoming Pixies Doolittle album.
I have an irrational hatred of Billy Corgan. His whiny assed voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me.
Just thought I'd bring that up.
Any Pumpkins track for Rockband is an insta-buy for me. Keep it coming.
The Pumpkins are one of my all time favorite bands, and one of my biggest influences as a (real life) musician. I'll definitely be getting Zero on tuesday, to take a break from GTAIV...
Well looks like it's a week I'll be skipping. Nothing there really peaks my interest Zero isn't exactly my favorite Pumpkin song ever.
@StevenRafael: There was a comic a while ago called Billy the Egomaniac-- a parody of Billy Corgin and Johnny the Homicidal Maniac.
Considering the most recent Smashing Pumpkins Album as just as many original pumpkins as his solo CD its clear noone likes him. And that picture is certainly not the most flattering.
But I still love them.
my mom actually went to high school with billy corgan, never knew him personally though as far as she knows.
either way I'm not familiar with which song zero is, but i may pick it up. who's the other guys though? never heard of them >.>
woot, Zero! I was just listening to Aeroplane Flies High today and thinking how it'd be great to get Siamese Dream and/or Mellon Collie in Rock Band.
Zero! I'm so excited. When I saw that Zero was on the rumored DLC list, I freaked out. So glad it's in Rock Band now.
My words on this, on SP: I saw them alive two weeks ago and I'm a 90s kid! It was epic! *squeals*
'Sides, both Ginger and Lis are super hot.
SP FTW. I can take a break from GTA & Mario Kart for some SP fun :)
@DesmondHume:
Bah, I agree...save the trade in rock band. It's too good for me to leave...And now that they've included one of my top 3 favorite SP songs in it?!
@HotFootMcCook: Still, it needs so much more Disarm and Ava Adore.
Wait - Smashing Pumpkins? Does your "rock out" meter go higher if you cut your wrists while you play?
Wait, Smashing Pumpkins? Does your meter get higher if you cut your wrists while you play their songs?
oops double post sorry :(
I'll definitely be picking up Zero. Anyone else notice that the Motley Crue single was up in the store for $0.99??? I just realized today! (^.^)
*sigh* Still not my taste in music.
wow, i see no one is excited for the mother hips! im personally more excited for time sick son a grizzly bear than zero. im glad to see the mother hips getting some attention and representing the indie rock scene! red tandy is also a great choice!
The Mother Hips are great. At least their song Red Tandy is.
I can write better song lyrics than Billy Corgan too. I wish Rock Band would grade me on that.
The catch with Zero is that you can only get a perfect score by kicking out your two guitarists and performing their parts for them.
I thought Doolittle was coming out this week! LIES! I needs me some more Pixies.
Well, the fact that these songs come separately and not bundled together makes sure I won't buy any of them, not at over 3$ a song. Any new word about the canadian pricing on the playstation store?
We finally get more Corgan!
But when is Zwan coming as DLC?
@supercrap: Euuuch. I hate when people say stupid shit like this. Get over yourself.
That pic makes BC look like Quasimodo!
But yeah, I'm excited for more Pumpkins. Anytime.
I went to a Smashing Pumpkins concert on the 19th, what a show.
As with most Pumpkins stuff, I'm looking forward to the instruments.
Their drum timing seems so wierd compared to most other stuff.
But god, his voice. When we get the fake band together, I'm lowering the in-game vocals and upping the live singer's.
I looove pumpkins, first 4 albums are so freakin amazing on guitar and wow the drums, Jimmy Chamberlin (i think) is my favorite drummer ever, my style of playing drums is very close to his too.
But my guitar playing isn't like Corgan's at all, he's so weird in his solos...I love to play that when I have fun jams with other musicians, if they know pumpkins that is...a very unique group in many ways.
I agree it took me time to get used to the voice...but the lyrics are good if you take time to read and in the end it just feels right ;)
