The EB Games in the mall near here is holding one of these, though I probably won't (be able to) go to it.

AWESOME. I was just about to call them and find out if they were gonna do a midnight launch! Kick ass. They totally are.

Mine's on the list. Since I'm paid in full, I may do it, just to have it. I don't know about playing all their silly games, I just want my copy.

Maybe I can get an hour or two in before I need to study for my finals. Again. And again...

I don't know about you but most of the parents I know wouldn't go to a midnight launch for a game on tuesday for a GTA game other than for themselves.

Yep, the store I pre-ordered at is doing this. Signs in the store say the line starts at 10:00PM. So, yeah. I'll be there... God, I'm such a nerd.

@StealthMaster86: Agreed, I'm going in at like 8 or 9 when the 'party' starts. They did this when San Andreas came out too, I showed up at like 8:30pm, and they gave me my copy straight-away, and I was out the door and back to my house playng it by 9. I feel like this is going to be an awesome repeating of that day.

The only game store within 50km is doing a midnight launch, just got home from work and they had the good news... Plus I am off tuesday... no sleep for me!

Should also mention, to those who haven't done so, that if you plan on going to the midnight release, you should stop in sometime this weekend and pay off your pre-order so you don't have to wait in the inevitably longer line of people who still need to pay.

I would go, but shoot, I attended the Halo 3 midnight launch and it was CRAZY. The line was terribly long, and I hate waiting in lines :\ No doubt it'll be just as long for GTA4 if not longer since it's also being released on PS3. I can wait until morning.

I can't believe that both of them in my little town of DeKalb, IL are doing this, as they're right across the street from eachother in true Starbuck's fashion. I'll be busy playing FES.

More than once GameStop has done midnight launches just at the strip and free-standing stores, since it costs money to have a mall open special at night.
If midnight launches are something you like, and you have the option, go for the outside stores, to be safe. Gamestop is going gun-ho on midnight launches lately, and if it works out its something they will continue doing in the future, I'll bet.

of course the gamestop i preordered at is the only gamestop in america not doing a midnight release....go figure

Sweet, I live in Waldorf, MD and there are 4 Gamestops within walking distance (two in the mall, one right across from the other... it's goofy) and all 4 of them will be open. I guess I will be hanging at from 9pm - ~12am at the store where I reserved my copy.

In the small chance that someone else from Waldorf reads this, a couple dozen nacho platters from the Taco Bell up the street and some sodas to the party.

@M: Some people with chipped 360s have already downloaded, played, and finished the main missions. I'm glad to see others can wait (personally, I'm going to the midnight opening because the manager is cool is lets us bring food and drinks to these events and it's going to be a hell of a party).

Yeah I'm definitely going for the midnight launch. Though i know it's definitely still going to be on all the store shelves mid-day Tuesday, I'm sure I won't be able to sleep knowing other people got the game and are playing their little lucky hearts out.

Since i pre-ordered the Special EDition (see what i did there?), i won't be camping out for hours... no no... I'll show up fashionably late and just waltz right through the door and hopefully catch them right as they pack up to close and demand my copy of the game even though I was so late and didn't wait in line and refuse to pick it up the next day because I preordered it two months ago dammit and I won't take no for an answer.

Oh, crap. Funny story, right. The mall closest to my house has two gamestops. One on the outside and one on the inside. The one on the outside used to be an Electronic Boutique, which they bought immediately. Well, turns out that the one outside is the one having a midnight release. I could go, but I live in Baltimore, and it's definitely not safe to be buying Playstation 3 games at midnight. Absolutely not. Never.

Never been to one of these midnight releases. What time can I show up and not deal with this stuff? I'm going to one of the Nashville locations and they are having Coyote Ugly girls and some kind of cars or something, I dunno.
