The Wii60 wheel [GoNintendo]

Comments
Well done you...
I could actually do this....
People complain about paying for a cheap plastic wheel but are ok buying expensive 360 wheel and sticking a wiimote on it?
But how hard is it to hit the wiimote buttons with it like that?
Okay, awesome.
Does it REALLY work though? Like really?
@Kyle81: The 360 wheel has things like tactile feedback and an attached base that make it more like a car. The Wii wheel is made of plastic and feels like a meaningless addon.
See, the point is that if you've got both, you're set! No need for that silly plastic/rubber ring.
Why does it sound like I'm talking about a hemorrhoid doughnut?
Kinda redundant. But I bet those who own both facepalmed themselves if they bout a Wii Wheel
I hate innovation. It just complicates things.
might as well put a sixaxis under that.
Didn't think many people owned a 360 wheel... Since it isn't really mandatory. Nonetheless, they're both replacements for the real thing. How many people in here are under 16 and can't drive legally? lol.
@zPhreak: 360 wheel: Also made of plastic. At least partially.
I know have a decent game to play with my 360 wheel!
An angry coma? Is that like when Lindsay took an angry nap in Arrested Development?
I'd buy that for a dollar.
Seems like a pain to reach the B trigger.
nice!
now we need a dualshock 3 zapper
imposible is nothing people!
yeah.. I'll probably stick with my GC-controller for now..
yeah i did this the 2nd i got my PAL copy. In the end its not that great. Hell i would say just the using the wiimote is the best, the steering wheels are cool but don't always feel perfect.
@GREY GECKO: LOVES SUM CAPTIONS: GUNCON3 FTW... Can't say the same for Gun Crisis 4, though...
I own a zapper, so what?
I'm still waiting for someone to take their portable Wii screen into their minivan and stick the wiimote to the steering wheel for some real live action Mario Kart.
@Americo: I know, but that's all I'd pay.
Until I see gameplay footage, I'm not convinced it works well at all.
DOH!!!! I just threw one of those 360 wheels away! My 4 yr old son had destroyed my 360 racing wheel while I was at work one day and I just chucked it!
(facepalm)
Seems like it might not work that great since it not right in the middle of the steering wheel. Also, wouldn't the Wiimote pop out when the B button is pressed?
So basically you could just do this with any game steering wheel. I just bought the driving force gt wheel for gran turismo, I'll have to give it a try.
Oh and BTW this is hardly specific to mario kart. When will someone tape a Wii Remote to a shotgun? Or a real baseball bat? Crossbow? the possibilities are ENDLESS!
Honestly, this is exactly how I am going to play Mario Kart Wii. Awesome job!
Holy crap, I still have my old Madcatz Dreamcast steering wheel; SCORE!
Now where's my crowbar and blowtorch...
@mva5580: Actually, the point of this is the Wiimote fits perfectly and snugly in the 360 wheel without modification, tape, glue, rubber bands etc.
Any wheel would work, but you'd need to stick the remote to it somehow.
I use my 360 wheel all the time it is the most realistic steering wheel to dat. With real tactle response steering not just rumble. the the road is slanted to the right and you need to go left it is tough since you have to steer against the hill hense realistic. The question I have is don't you need to lift the Wii wheel up to do a jump or wheely trick you won't be wanting to lift the 360 heavy as hell wheel and base. So this mod is an epic fail....! lol
definitely one of those why didn't I think of that moments ...
@M: It's still pretty awkward to reach that button holding the wiimote sideways without anything attached to it ! The first time I had to use it playing Super paper Mario I thought it was a joke: "You don't really want me to play whit this button ? Why didn't they put more conveniant buttons ? Why can't I play with the Nunchuk ? at least that thing has the buttons at the right places !"
Now, why didn't I think of this?...
Aside from the difficult B button access:
Unable to shake = unable to perform tricks.
Fail.
I still have my old Madcatz Xbox wheel I'll try this on Sunday.
great work!!!
Now i'll go buy a wii and mario kart, be back
@JorgieX: if you think the 360 wheel is the most realistic wheel to date then you obviously have never touched a G25 with friggin 6 speed shifter and steel pedals (and a clutch zomg). That and dont 360 wheels catch on fire or something (wasnt that why they were recalled?) or is that a different wheel I am thinking about. The wheel in my car doesnt burst into flames so I deem a burning 360 wheel not realistic.
And yea, how the heck do you hit B to power slide?
Sweetness.
Seems like a really good idea...
eh, I'll stick with my little bit of plastic. As was said, you need to be able to shake/twich the wheel to do tricks on the jumps, which give very handy speed boosts. But quite apart from that, I LIKE that the whiil doesn't have a fixed pivot point and I can move it around while using it
@mva5580: It would probably be hard to steer in Mario Kart with a shotgun. Who wants to admit to the cops that they shot someone in the face because they were playing Wii? Not only that, but Jack Thompson would probably try to sue the shit out of Nintendo, and, really, is nothing sacred?
Now this is just the ticket. I think I would have a better time utilizing the wii wheel if it was..."mounted" in a way.
I hope you have four of those. :B
hm isn't that the logitech version of the wheel?
I think it could have potential cause my only concern with the Wii wheel is not being on a fixed axis. Would be nice to see a wheel housing with a fixed access and peddles.
Huzzah for Wii60 compatibility!
@ph15h needs followers: I can drive alright, but for some reason, I can't shoot turtles from my car. But bananas are a-ok
w-w!!wha-whaaat?!! ?WWAHHHAAATTTT?!?!?!!?
BL-Bl-BlBLASMERESESR!!
ARRRGGHGGHHHHH!
*blacks out into a coma*
X_x
Works better than the actual Wii Whell? Check!
Very nice... fixes the worst part of the Wii whell: Fixed pivot.
Wait wut? A Microsoft X-Box 360 fixing a Nintendo Wii peripheral?
No. This isn't possible.
A wiimote is clutter? where do you live? in a furnace?
Now you can have 2 bad steering wheels in one!!
I'd been guessing that the big complaint about the Wiil attachment was that all it really did was change the shape of the Wiimote. It doesn't make it _behave_ like a steering wheel because it isn't mounted on a pivot point. You don't get the tactile feedback that you're expecting. This gives it to you, so it seems logical. Well, maybe not as logical as finding something less expensive to strap that Wiimote to...
Obviously the people here saying it's "sweet" and "awesome" and claiming that it "fixes" the wheel don't really understand how Mario Kart Wii works.
A huge part of Mario Kart Wii is performing tricks in the air and performing wheelies on bikes to get a speed boost. With the Wii Wheel, this is performed by flicking the wheel up. There's no way you could comfortably do that with this big heavy wheel.
You know, even if it didn't work, it'd be pretty awesome in my book.
@guspaz:
not hard but it's actually quite comfortable to hold the wheel instead of just the wiimote!!!!!!!!!!!
