We've already heard that Devil May Cry 4 is coming to PCs, but now we almost know when. This summer. Yes, that's as specific as Capcom is getting at the moment. In addition, a demo is promised and DMC4 PC will be sporting some new modes, too:
Turbo mode will turn-up the action to insane speeds, while Legendary Dark Knight Mode will harness advanced PC processing power and fill the screen with an unbelievable number of enemies for extra difficulty. Moreover, familiar enemies from the console versions will show-up in new locations in the PC version.I dunno. In the PC gaming world, "new modes" and "additional content" are beginning to feel more and more like a lame apology for showing up 2 hours late to a dinner party whilst reeking of Whopper Juniors. CAPCOM®'S DEVIL MAY CRY® 4 COMING TO PC THIS SUMMER Demo With System Benchmark Mode Will Be Available Before the Game's ReleaseSAN MATEO, Calif — April 23, 2008 — Capcom®, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced that the highly anticipated PC version of Devil May Cry® 4 is locked and loaded for release this summer. Devil May Cry 4 is already a certifiable hit in the console world, having shipped over 2 million units world wide since its release in North America in February. A demo of the game will be released for PC players before the retail version ships, allowing PC gamers to try the game ahead of time, as well as testing their system's prowess with the included benchmark mode. The PC version of Devil May Cry 4 will feature new modes, enhanced graphics options and some additional content. Devil May Cry 4 has been rated M for Mature by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board.
Good things come to those who wait as PC owners will benefit from having more modes and more visual customization options to help enhance their demon-slaying action. Turbo mode will turn-up the action to insane speeds, while Legendary Dark Knight Mode will harness advanced PC processing power and fill the screen with an unbelievable number of enemies for extra difficulty. Moreover, familiar enemies from the console versions will show-up in new locations in the PC version. The high resolution screen settings allow the cut scenes of the game to run at up to 120 frames per second (up from 30 frames per second in the console version of the game). Slider options are available to manage various visual effects seen throughout the game. Devil May Cry 4 for the PC will have both DirectX® 9 and DirectX® 10 modes, and will also be compliant with the Games For Windows® program.
From the producer of the original Devil May Cry® and Resident Evil® 4 comes the next installment in the hugely successful stylized action series that has so far achieved global sales of nearly seven million units. Devil May Cry 4 immerses gamers in a gothic supernatural world, where a new protagonist clashes with a familiar hero. As the new leading man, Nero, players will unleash incredible attacks and non-stop combos using a unique new gameplay mechanic: the powerful "Devil Bringer" on his right arm.

Is that like being "almost pregnant"??
LOL, it also kinda like how the PSN gets all the DLC a few weeks later than XBL?
New areas?
The only way I could ever justify rebuying a game like this is they allow you to replay any level as Dante or Nero after you beat the game, but I know it's not going to happen. All it'd really take is a few jump pads too...
I just hope they at least make a legitimate PC port. Resident Evil 4 didn't even HAVE mouse support, and didn't even play on my computer.
I would rather wait a few more months LONGER than we are already used to in order to get these ports to stop smelling like ports.
@Mr.SithNinja: ROFL
I don't see the point of putting it on the PC really since the game doesn't seem like it'd have a very good control system on the PC. A game with 8 buttons (4 triggers and 4 buttons) is then having all the controls placed wherever you hope they'll be close enough on a 50-60 button keyboard.
Not sayign it would be terrible but does anyone prefer it on the PC?
I predict EPIC FAIL for this game.
Gut feeling :x
Is this game very good?
wow, a lot of PC hating going on here...
As long as it is an awesome port like Lost Planet i will play it again on my PC, can't wait to play it in TRUE 1080p...
@Llost: PC game pads don't exist on your planet ??
Very skeptical on this, Iv tried a few capcom games in the past and the PC support is abysmal. Sometimes resolution isn't supported, or mouse+keyboard, and when you had a controller plugged in it wasnt recognised well. It tends to be very sloppy.
I wanted Turbo mode. I can't possibly run this game on my PC. -_-
A port of a console game that will supposedly "harness advanced PC processing power".
I'm not seeing this as a recipe for success of a well-tuned game.
@homernoy:Well, after looking a little more closely at this game, it sounds good. I would rather wait and buy this for my PC rather than my PS3 due to extra content, and price. Maybe I will rent it in the meantime, just to check it out.
@exkon: I would say something but then see your avatar.
well if it's a port ala DMC3 , then we're screwed ...
if it's a port ala Lost Planet .. then BRING IT ON!
@Lokku: Unlike the previous three Capcom ports (Onimusha 3, DMC3 and RE4), this isn't being ported by a company who normally makes edutainment software. A faint glimmer of hope!
@黒天使: I guess but I just usually prefer to play with a joypad on a console and a keyboard on a PC. I don't see much point in PC gaming if it's no longer a PC experience (in my opinion).
I thought that it was already released.. o.0 wow, what were they doing all the time? as much as I remember they said that they were making the game on PC and than porting it to consoles, not the other way around...
i can't wait for the pc version. it seems that most of these 'next gen' console ports and/or games that are on both consoles, always turn out better on the pc. just look at bioshock. and i guarantee mass effect won't run at 2fps like it did on the 360.
also, the pc version of RE4 is wicked, if you get the hi-res packs for it.
@KirbySS: ubisoft ported those last 3 titles to pc, dmc3 was bad, lost planet was bad because of the glitches, onimusha ive never tried on pc.
@Kyle81:
No hate, just a little jibe. ^_^
So who's actually doing the conversion?
Is it Capcom? I can't see any reference to who's actually handling the port.
If it's Ubisoft again then it may as well not happen.
@TokeYo: Probably Capcom, though someone else might be publishing it. Remember, Capcom developed a tool chain that easily allows them to work across the next gen platforms simultaneously.
@TokeYo: Yeah Ubi's port of RE4 sucked balls. Thankfully inventive modders have fixed most of the shortcomings aside from real-time cut-scenes.
Still, now that I have a laptop capable of running games a DMC4 port could be quite fun on the move.
If they mess up DMC 4 as Ubisoft did DMC3, I will go to the Capcom studios dressed as Guile and beat up each and every one of them.
How can anybody be so stupid to mess up controls by putting the movement on the RIGHT analog stick. How shall I move and mash buttons with the same hand?
THAT made me buy a nextgen console. Actually I bought the white (!) PS3 DMC4 bundle ...
I think one of the main points to note is this: "The high resolution screen settings allow the cut scenes of the game to run at up to 120 frames per second (up from 30 frames per second in the console version of the game)." That would be dandy indeed.
@exkon: Let me see, you must be
12 years old and play Halo3 online=LOSER
I own this game on the PS3, and have a Dual Shock 3 driver for my PC. Yes I am a DMC geek and I will buy this for the new modes. <3
@Llost:
You can use your Xbox360 controller with PC, so the game experience will be exactly the same + better graphics.
@Lokku:
True. The PC port of RE4 is still looking worse than it PS2 port o_0'(shading and effect wise).
Well at least they've released a patch to add shadows, after like almost a year or so.... before that, the game have looked like this: [img145.imageshack.us]
About DMC4 on PC i don't know....Even if they make this port superb, its just not the kind of a game, that most pc gamers want to play on pc. Most of them are not button mashing types and thats pretty much what DMC is all about.
They should have ported Dead Rising instead, im pretty sure it would have sold much better, than DMC4 is going to, because there is much more to do and replayability factor is also higher.
@Mr.DuckSauce: No, Ubisoft published them. Sourcenext did the porting.
I'm waiting................
