First I've heard of this problem. I did have a connection issue with some ranked games after the server downtime, but it has been smooth as silk since then.

Hopefully that's it. I'd love some new features. Saying day 125 is way harsh. It was fixed and now there's probably a new problem.

It can't be people buying new 360s for GTA4 that pushing the service? I can't wait to here the reason for this one

I haven't had any problems the past couple of days, but a friend who lives just two blocks north of me started being frequently disconnected tonight.

i have been having alot of live problems all day when i was play call of duty 4. hope they will fix all of the porblems with it soon. thanks

Yeah, it was down for me too for a bit ... but then I was able to log back in. It logged me out 3 times today already, and once yesterday.

To all the people that continually defend Live despite the downtime, I think this is finally enough reason to start complaining. This year has been TERRIBLE.

Well, they did give us that shitty live game to make us happy.

How about making the service free?

On a completely unrelated note, though, my 360 just froze, and I'm too afraid to turn it back on for fear of getting RROD'd

I was playing cod4 and blam EVERYONE on my friends list went offline and i dropped too.

Luke, I think that you guys really need to kill this whole "Xbox Live Status Watch: Day 125". It's been smooth as silk for me (my 3 best friends and my girlfriends brother) ever since Christmas/New Years was over. You're just gonna get people all worked up with the whole continuation of the XBL Status Watch from Christmas.

i actually like these moments. we get free XBLA games as an apology, wonder what we get this time...

@Lou3000: LOL... hows about them fixing any issues first. Sure I want a free service but regardless of whether it's free or not, it should work. Being free doesn't give a product a "free" pass to suck! I'm not implying anything here so don't out yourself on my account ;)

I'm sure that every 360 owner out there has had a system freeze. It happens often when quitting your game in Oblivion, when you're looking at your media footage in Skate ... and other games have their quirks too.

I got a few games of Call of Duty 4 in, but everyone I played with got dropped and I wasn't able to sign on again. A friend of mine told me the same thing happened to him and the rest of his clan.

I think the headline here is a bit biased - Live's been working great ever since that long up-down fiasco over the holidays. Today's issues were probably just a few problems caused by the maintenance they did yesterday.

Been disconnected here & there tonight. I'm playing solo FIFA so its no biggie but they better make sure its stable when GTA 4 takes over their servers.

I can sign in and play my BFBC beta but im just getting HORRIBLE lag

Tell me about it. I've been trying to get Luke and crew to quit this whole fiasco, as it's just gonna get people all pissy and it ALWAYS starts a stupid fucking flame war in the comments. Soon enough we'll have some commenters saying:

Remember, ps3s can freeze too. These game systems are less than perfect computers.

@dead_red_eyes: Yeah, this is kind of overboard when the service has been running fine for a few months other than the COD4 map problem for a few hours one night a couple of weeks ago. If you seriously want to do an XBL Status Watch and note the number of days then you should be over 1800 at this point since Live has been up and running for over 5 years. There are some things that need to change, like not taking the service down for maintenance, but "Day 125" doesn't apply since there hasn't been a continual problem.

I was playing COD4 and kicking ass, then...it was gone. Why Xbox Live? Why?

Brooklyn NY, Been having trouble since Friday night. Have not been able to sign in for more than two min. Just like in December. By the way still have not gotten my "Free Game". I'm calling XBL support tomorrow to wast their time while I complain.

@dead_red_eyes: I think all my crashes have happened in oblivion during loading screen... of course this is like when I'm playing for 13 - 17 hours at a time (yes, I was addicted D: ) and I think it had something to do with my cache. Other games just don't crash on me... wait... the FlatOut Demo did force me out to the guide once.

@rannic: Exactly. We are ALWAYS WATCHING, but only report in when there's a problem :)

The 125 day title is still valid if the issue still exists. Unless Earth Day is some new everyone has a day off super holiday I haven't heard of. They can't blame this on a bunch of people playing all at once like did through Christmas.

Well looks like I wont be connecting the Xbox until GTA next week. Come Mr. Wii let us have some laggy fun in Super Smash land.

[rant]Sure, Live has it's issues here and there ... and it very well should, because it's a HUUUUUUGE service that caters to over 6 million (results from March of 2007) people . Shit's bound to happen. In all honesty it hasn't been that bad since Christmas/New Years for me. Maybe everynow and then I get disconnected ... but I log back in and things are smooth as silk. The last time things were wonky was with Call of Duty 4, and that was understandable. All in all, I'm still a very happy Xbox Live subscriber. Some people just expect it to be pristine I guess, and they get all bent out of shape when it's down for a little bit and they complain how it shouldn't be down because they pay for it ... as if that $50 a year was all the money in the world. Shit, I spent that much at the bar in 1 night ... even a sack of Oregons finest almost costs the same.[/rant]

1. I'm at the office, not at home

2. My friend used my internet connection to upload massive amounts of data in one day, so the provider choked my connection off

3. I don't have a LAN cable long enough to connect the Xbox to the router anyway

In other news, last night, I carried my Wii into the office to try to download Rondo of Blood and holy lord it gave me an error for every page. It would load and load for two or three minutes before returning an error and bumping me back to the start menu.

Eventually got it to work, though!! Only took an hour!

In closing, no matter what's wrong with Xbox Live, it ain't as bad as Wii.

Whoa, playing for 13 - 17 hours at a time?! That's some serious work right there. It's frozen one me maybe once or twice on a loading screen ... usually it's quitting to the in-game menu that causes it to freeze for me. So I usually just save my game, then bring up the in-game dashboard and press Y to quit. It never freezes that way.

Ok i'm calling it.

saying "status watch day whatever" isn't really that big of deal, they don't say "Xbox blows 2008: this time it's personal" or anything like that, it is a status watch, good OR bad. there is just no point in posting news if all is fine and dandy... "Xbox live status watch: day 105...this just in, LIVE is up and running, i repeat UP and RUNNING..." i think the title is just fine, and reminds me of when i lived in texas and we had "Killer Bee Watch '98" on every news channel

I've been playing Uno and COD4 on live today.While getting on an online game for Uno it does ask me to sign into Live after I know I had. And I got a couple "you need to be singned into live to play" on COD4 that has been the extent of my problems.

Who knows what would happen come GTA4 & services are down. (others need to cross fingers)

For the past few days I've had trouble logging into XBL in general. I log into my profile and it says it can't connect to live. Then I do a network test and then after that I try again and it'll usually work. It's kind of annoying.

Then today Live disconnected me a few times. And sometimes I'll go to my guide button and it says I'm not on live but I am because I can still get messages from people and stuff. It's weird.

Wow, considering PSN is free and has yet to go down, I wonder what MS will have to say about this. Last time was "understandable" given the load on the servers during xmas but this time....tuesday in middle of april?? I dunno....

I've been having problems all day. Tried to play Halo for two hours, only got three games in, both slightly laggy within themselves. Oh Xbox Live, what's happened to you?
