Here it is, folks. Best Buy's (and probably Microsoft's) Grand Theft Auto IV savings kamehameha. Buy GTA IV along any version of the Xbox 360, and get a $50 gift card as a sweet bonus. If you've been one of those woulda, coulda, shoulda gamers still holding out on this generation of systems, it's probably not a bad time to make the leap. We'll keep our eyes peeled for similar deals like a PlayStation 3 equivalent offer...other than that bundle on the way to Europe.

Heh, the very moment my friend buys a 360 this appears.
It's like a bundle!
@NitrousO: Too funny. I've had mine since late 2006, so I won't be taking advantage.
I'll be honest, I'm just really really excited for next Tuesday when I go to EB Games and pick up my preorder.
I'm calling it now and you can quote me. Grand theft auto 4 will gross 420 million in the first month. I cannot wait for this game.
Wow, thats pretty good!
Too bad everyone around me that wanted a 360 already has one :P
I've been saving my free (HD-DVD related) $50 Best Buy gift card for GTAIV. See? I'm responsible!
Good deal, though.
If they bundled it with an extended warrenty it'd be alot better imo.
Sorry, I'm just bitter than my 360 is failing again. RRoD first time, and now DVD drive this time. And my the 3 year warrenty doesnt cover the dvd drive anyways. guess my gta4 will be on a ps3.
So that's basically one game of choice for free, yes? Sounds good. Will probably pull some customers in that hadn't really made up their mind between 360 and PS3 yet. By the way, the European (or German as of now) TV spot for GTA4 features a massive Xbox360 marketing part at the end.
Still, the PS3-GTA4 bundle is a great idea to me. Gamers curious about GTA in Europe walk into their local gaming store, and what do they see? Their favourite game bundled with a brand known for appeal in the past. I can only see them making 360-GTA4 their choice if they were offered something like Best Buy does up there.
I can't find this on the Best Buy website. I'm trying to get my buddy to finally take the plunge. Please help
LOL @ DBZ reference :)
Thats actually some goos incentives for someone on the fence.
this is going to move a WHOLE lotta 360's at Best Buy. I mean the game is going to sell PHENOMINALLY on BOTH systems, but anyone that will be surprised that the 360 version outsells the PS3 version... Actually if anyone is surprised I'd say welcome to 2008.
Can't wait I have a copy of a game given to me as a gift that I already had, that I never opened that I've been savoring to return to Best Buy for this game. Plus I got next tues. off from work!
Lock the doors and cut the celly off! Liberty City here I come!!!
$10 off COD4 GOTY ain't bad either.
@Derigor:
Dude I hear you, 2wice this week my 360 has flashed the RRoD when I moved it around slightly this week, I cut it off then back on and gamed for hours and it was fine.
But I just keep feeling like my shit is going to RRoD any minute now before the release (even though it is refurbished) and that would be seriously WACK!
Good luck with your console though man
@OhTheHugeManatee:
It's for the weekly ad starting on April 27th
Best Buy promotion eh? Ben Popkin will not be happy.
Really a missed opportunity for Sony. They should have been smart and made deals like this with Best Buy, Rockstar, etc...
Anyone in Canada who wants an Xbox 360 and GTA should check out their local Rogers Video. Free GTA IV with the purchase of any Xbox 360 model.
"Exclude PS3 version" G i wonder why, stupid microsoft I hate you yet I love you so much.
Wonder how much Msft paid for this deal...
@FunKrusher: Make sure you aren't confusing this with the 4-lights error one gets when video cable isn't seated correctly. Many cases of RRoD are actually just this error :\
@Derigor:Damn that sucks. Before any game but GTA. One question: is it one of the supposedly good models or an old one?
@LittleBigPlaneteer: Very often it seems like Sony is run by a bunch of monkeys.
@Mr Fortitude: 7 Million? Doubt it
Id rather wait for the GTA4 PS3 bundle. Although this is a good deal, its not in the long run as far as the console goes.
@LittleBigPlaneteer: MS has exclusive marketing rights to GTA IV in the US.
Somehow I misread this thinking you got the $50 gift card for just buying the game. Now that would have been a hell of a deal :D
Personally, I'm getting it for the PS3.
The real problem I have is that the week just doesn't have enough days. Between double XP CoD4, this and the MGO beta I just can't find time to fit everything in.
Great deal, if I didn't have a 360 already and saw this deal in the store, I'd absolutely pounce on it.
MS is going to move a bunch of consoles with this deal- Best Buy is the #1 place to get electronics.
Wouldn't it be easier to just cut $50 from the retail price?
Nice deal but since I already have a PS3, I stick with the $10 gift card at Circuit City.
For me, this beats the PS3 bundle in Europe (shame they're not in the same country)
@Kyle81:
No they don't
@Fallible: It'd be easier for you if they just cut fifty from the price, but for them, it's better if you give them the full price for everything right off the bat, and then have you come back and spend more money with the card incentivizing it.
They should just say 'if you buy an Xbox 360, get GTA4 for free'. I think that is much more effective.
But, leave it to BB to sucker you back into their store.
It's almost like Mark is speaking directly to me!
hhmmm, I already have a 360 AND a $50 gift card from BB, so.... This helps me in no way, shape or form.....
@DerrickDS:
That's hardly the same thing. That'd be like giving 59.99 away rather than 50 away. Not to mention the fact that there are two versions of GTA IV. The 50.00 gift card is the most practical solution
basically, a free controller or year of XBL from Best Buy
@Kyle81:
Care to share your source, sir? I haven't heard anything to that effect.
@DerrickDS: If they said "'if you buy an Xbox 360, get GTA4 for free'" they would have to either up the value of the gift card or get sued. I detect a little angst toward BB. Disgrunteled employee or dejected customer?
I sold my 360 months ago and have been mooching off of my roommates. In June we're moving into different places, so I have to start thinking about getting a new 360... Hm.
I still have my harddrive, so all I'll need is an arcade unit right?
@Mr.SithNinja: High roller!
All this crap is the same it doesn't save you anything, notice you get a gift card for a future purchase, its all a gimmick. The next time the person with the 50-dollar gift card goes in they will spend more than the 50, maybe 20 bucks more. So that's 20 more dollars best buy has of your money plus you probably didn't need the 360 in the fist place.
@Scott3D: I guess you live in Europe, then?
@OhTheHugeManatee: Ad will be in this weekend's paper.
@Mark Wilson: I got my " Sorry bout the HD DVD fiasco Gift Card " last week. Just in time for GTA4. Gotta love those guys...
@WreckTheLaw:
yes.
@Kadugen: But it's almost worth the value of a game itself. A good consumer resists impulse buying.
I wonder who takes the hit on this, Best Buy, Microsoft or if it's shared? A retailer would DEFINITELY benefit from this, so maybe this is BB.
Regardless, I think this game will push sales for both systems, but the 360 a bit more. While the PS3 has some interesting games in coming months (GT5P & MGS4, in particular), I think that people that waited for GTA to purchase a console will be purchasing it because they like GTA, not those other games. That being the case, cheaper is better.
I think its fine that MS sets up a deal for their system. What I don't think is OK is when they buy the commercial. I'm sure they had to pay capcom to make sure that PS3 didn't show up ANYWHERE in the devil may cry 4 commercial. Thats just cheap.
Usind my HD-DVD rebate card for GTA as well.
This is why having a Replacement Plan is great, 'cause I was looking to replace my 360 within the next few weeks anyway (is starting to hang up when it shouldn't, will probably RRoD soon). I'll be getting the full value back on what I paid for it, which basically equals a free Elite upgrade, and I technically qualify for the $50 gift card as well.
