Here's a fun fact: I got a new PC yesterday. First entirely new one in about seven years. Dual-core 3ghz, 512MB 8800GT, the works. And the first game I played on it? Not Crysis. Not Company of Heroes. It was IGF finalist Noitu Love 2. Well, not even Noitu Love 2, the Noitu Love 2 demo. And I must say, it's pretty amazing. As a standard side-scroller, it's good enough, but bringing the mouse into play for certain attacks and moves (using both gestures and the cursor) is really what kicks it up from "good enough" to the aforementioned "pretty amazing". You should really go buy it. Then buy it again when the must-happen WiiWare version hits.

Got it and love it so far. It starts out kinda easy but has a nice ramp in difficulty starting about the middle of lvl 2.
I love the demo, makes me wonder why no one has made a like this for the wii yet.
I can only hope that this will be coming to Wii Ware, as I really liked the demo.
Definitely a fun game, and a nice throwback sort of style to it. Everyone should at least try out the demo, and make a purchase if it tickles their fancy.
Congrat on the PC. Time to catch up on all the awesome PC games that came out in the last few years :)
A friend of mine was appalled when I told him I thought the game's graphics were "meh" at best, but not impressive overall.
Was he seeing something that I'm not? I only glanced at his macbook for only a minute or two
@dead_red_eyes: ditto.
And no, not the pokemon :O
PC needs to make a come back. I play halo just fine but fpses need to be played on computers.
Have fun with your new PC, Luke.
Now is a great time to buy one. Fairly high-end components (like your 8800GT and E6850) are really cheap at the moment.
Also, the next-gen of Nvidia cards appear to just be slighly-faster (and noisier) versions of the 8000 series, so there shouldn't be anything around the corner that will render current parts obsolete.
I'm thinking of getting an 8800GT myself. For AU$250, I can get a card with similar performance to one that would have cost me AU$800+ six months ago.
THIS GAME ROCKS.
No joke... I wish I had found this game sooner, purchasing for sure. THIS is how a game is supposed to be played, THIS is perfect. The way the game flows and how you use the game mechanics, it is magnificently wonderful.
I have trouble running the demo. I use the config and all, but when I try clicking on the exe, it says "Cannot create file in temporary directory!" :<
OUTSTANDING!
Definitely, the best games I have played in a while with an awesome soundtrack And challenging too...once you get used to the controls.
If you liked the demo, then do buy it. It's well worth it.
@Ichidou: Depends if you consider a throwback to the arcade coin-op graphics back-asswards.
Demo was definitely nice, since I gotta import GTA I might get this to tide me over till Play-Asia decides to send packages.
@Zamzoph: Gawd... even running as admin doesn't work :<
MUST COME TO WIIWARE!!
...rawr!
Downloading now...
20 bucks... gotta go scrounging again.
Do you know if there will be a Wii Ware version Luke or are you just blowing smoke? The demo was fun in a crazy kind of way. I was stringing together insane combos.
Does anyone know how long the full version is? If I'm going to seriously consider dropping $20 on this game I need to know a little more about it. As it stands I think $20 is a little much. I could see $10 easy for something like this, so $20 is kinda pushing it.
its about 7 stages, theres lots of hidden stuff... i also feel that 20 bucks is a bit much though. i would have instantly dropped 10 on it when i heard it was released, ive been waiting for this game since i first heard about it months ago, i was a big fan of the first. games like this, fez, and cave story need to be all over live arcade, psn, and wiiware.
This game is soooooooo good! Easily a GOTY contender for me.
If this game doesn't appear on Wii Ware, it'd be such a damn shame. Nintendo themselves ought to personally help him get it on the service!
Great stuff... it's hectic and over-the-top, but the mouse controls and difficulty curve make it really accessible.
That said, I kinda wish it were $10 instead of $20... I know he must've put a ton of work into it, but a lot of DS games cost the same amount, and most of them have more than seven levels.
That said, if the difficulty ramps up and you're expected to complete the whole game in one sitting, it could last a while. Maybe I'll pick it up after I get Space Invaders Extreme this summer.
@SilentPredator: Blowing smoke? I'm making a suggestion. The Wii Remote could easily replicate the mouse pointer, and if it hit the service at around $10 it'd do quite well for itself.
I bought this some days ago, it's amazing beyond words. It's damn impressive that this is the work of one guy.
As for the Wii version, not trying to squash dreams or anything, but the game is made in Multimedia Fusion - if he were going to make a Wii version, it'd most likely require a complete rewrite of the game engine.
Wow, demo was pretty neat. I don't feel too accomplished, though, all I could do is ram on the keyboard and click like crazy.
I totally won, though.
I got a new PC a few years back. First game I palyed on it? Commander Keen 4! Awwww yeah, Dopefish FTW.
I had a similar experience to Luke Plunkett - after buying a similar rig, I went on to finish my first run-through of Baldur's Gate 2 on it
Holy crap, that looked amazing!
So wait? It isn't confirmed for Wiiware yet...but probably will? Cause if it is I'll just wait till then!
Wow, awesome, I sent in a tip about this 2 weeks ago, which was apparently completely ignored!
Thanks!
Absolutely awesome!
Reminds me of Viewtiful Joe, but even more insane.
