Found in a drawer and from Sonic's mid-90's heyday comes this, Where's Sonic? It's a picture book where you, un-huh, look for Sonic. The 2D drawings are spectacular! Click through the gallery below to find Sonic. Maybe you won't. There are no guarantees, really.
Haven't gotten your fill? Click over to UK:R, where they've got more — including challenging blurry ones!

I have one like this, but it's based on the ABC cartoon.
Found him. He's right there, to the left of Tails.
too.much.freaking.characters. D=
Waah Bash, the UK: R link doesn't work. Says "Service Unavailable".
man this book is so hardcore! i dont even want to attemp the celebration zone.
Sorry, I was looking for a striped red shirt and a cap.
It is a great find though, off tangent; I was a huge fan of the cartoon, it entranced me as a child who just got off the boat stepped foot in the belly of the monster.
"Click through the gallery below to find Sonic. Maybe you won't. There are no guarantees, really."
I see no gallery. Also, The UK:R link leads me to "Service Unavailable."
??
I have this somewhere!
Wow, for some reason that book is totally awesome
I found Sonic!
He was in the first "a" of "Service Unavailable"!
now if they had a Wheres Sonic? mag... it would say three words inside...
In The Gutter
I bet this would sell for a pretty penny on Ebay.
Hm...the link doesn't work
I kept asking myself 'why am I still bothering to do this? its dumb'. Then I'd keep staring till I found him... and celebrate! Then I'd do the next one. I heart Sonic forever.
Sonic is in the Middle of basically All of them...wth? Except a few. I kind of see him at the top of one, but it seems to weird of a place.
Still would buy this though
@Beyene:
Oh wait, it gets harder LOL
tails eyes are staring into my soul D=
...wait is that...wuigi?
@Bluecell: UK:R failed when they blamed Sony for Sega's downfall... Sega was responsible for Sega's downfall... Nintendo didn't die, did they?
The fact their server failed isn't related to what I said, really, but it's funny anyhow. Except I kind of wanted to look at the pics... Darn it...
*Gets up turns on 360 plays Sonic 2*
Oh Sonic why can't your new games be just as good as these
*Crosses fingers for Sonics Unleashed*
I call it Sonics Last Try.
Has anyone guessed "in Crecente's pants" yet?
Was that a trap? :(
Y'know I remember when the Where's Waldo books came out. Those were kind of fun because when you looked around the page there were like dozens if not hundreds of interesting things. But this... this just looks like a copy and paste job and then stick Sonic somewhere.
I'm not saying that I don't like it though. I'm just saying that I hate it.
Found all of them, locations listed in the first post of all the gallery images.
Oh man I'm gonna go break out the Wheres Waldo books now. Good times with that.
Haha, my brother has a different Where's Sonic book, it's one based on the 90's cartoon I remember we found it in a 99 cents store years ago, good times.
Damn, now I'm gonna rummage through my closet to find my old Waldo books and stay up late(er) becauese of you Kotaku.
Damn I gotta stay away from this site when I know I'm in exam week :P
Well not at these low resolutions. Kick it up a notch, Ashcraft
@DefHamster: I have that book as well. well, had.
Obviously it's a trick, he's moving so fast that he doesn't appear in any of the images.
Wow, that was pretty sweet. I'd buy this book any day for maybe ten bucks or so.
Hey, i actually have this book, lol
And there's a Sonic 3 & Knuckles version of that book too
I have a different one of these Sonic "Waldo" books and it's on my shelf just to the left. I got it in grade 1 from the school book order just 12 years ago. If you're interested I can take a pic and send it in. You probably aren't though.
@kylo4:
Is it the same one as mine?
Oh my, I actually have this book.
I agree that it is superbly illustrated, and it gave me hours of fun back when I was a kid.
Wow, I wonder if that's still in my loft. I think there was at least one more of those books as well...
AW MAN! i had this when i was like 10!! this book rocked it was soooo detailed!
Sadly, looking through that book was a lot more fun than playing Sonic 2K6.
I never knew these books existed. Consider me awestricken.
@Drake Lake: I couldn't be sure. I'm looking for the cover online and can't find it.
where, w-w-where, w-w-where is wally, where is wally, where, where?
*guitar riff*
A-Wheres Wallyyy?
*guitar riff*
A-Wheres Wallyyy?
You know I'd love to know why the American publishers changed the name to Waldo. Just seemed a bit pointless to change it to me.
I have that book! :D
It during my Where's Wally phase where I also had an infatuation with Sonic. Who thought they would combine my two favourite things as a kid?
@Repsode: Because Wally is a British name and Waldo is more of an American name?
I've still got that somewhere!
Wow I have that book kicking around somewhere, I remember it being pretty easy compared to the where's wally ones
Bart Simpson: "Man, hes just not trying anymore"
I used to have this too, it really was good. As has been said, if only Sega had maintained their standards!
@fuzzbuzz: Yeah, all the "Where's Waldo?" knock-offs seemed half-assed to me. In addtion to the actual WW books, I have some featuring X-Men and Spiderman. The characters in WW were thousands and Martin Hanford clearly took the time to add hundreds of gags and special things to see in addition to finding Waldo. The knock-offs, on the other hand, lacked imagination and had larger (sized) and fewer characters (in comparison). Just look at the Sonic book.
I really really wish I had this book :(
I'm taking bets, Sonic vs. Waldo. 10:1.
@DONNYchiban: Too true. Some of the WW-style books do try to mix things up, but a lot of the time they're like this.
Ah, my old Where's Wally books... (Australian, so I get the British version) honestly, I never really looked for Wally but just enjoyed the artwork. There's so much to see.
I now remember the Where's Wally cartoon they had a while back. They frequently had people get his name wrong as Waldo. XP What's with that anyway? Wally sounds like more of an American name... it's weird.
Ive got this!
Im looking at it right now XD
Remember having that. Boy oh boy
Oh God, I remember this.
I must by a copy of this for my wife!!!! She would love it!
I have this somewhere.
Totally brings back memories.
Thx.
@rvcontre: If you invented this particular phrasing, then you owe me one kick in the pants. Big fan of twisty linguistics.
i have this one and another one but with puzzles not wheres Waldo stuff.
I thought Sonic was supposed to be good at running not hiding.
I had that as a kid! ^^ Happy memories.
That Sonic died off a long time ago...
:(
