Welcome back, PlayStation Store. Oh, how we missed you. After taking a little break while SCE's techy types worked on the shiny new shopfront window, regular service resumes this week with what may well be the biggest single update in the store's short history. From GT5 Prologue's appearance to Warhawk DLC to seven Rock Band tracks (including Still Alive), there's more than enough stuff in here to keep you busy until next Thursday. When the update will be 1/4 as big, and you'll all start complaining again, anyways.

Ehh? The new Warhawk Broken Mirror pack came out? Was it out BEFORE the PSN store upgrade? Or is it new?
+ Watch video
Damn good update today if I must say so myself.
Man, where was this 9-10 hours ago when the store was first updated? I've had all my new videos and expansions since this afternnon.
Picked up "Still Alive" and "Simple Man" this afternoon. "Simple Man" may be a little on the easy side (I can FC it on hard drums, expert guitar - and I mainly play medium drums and hard guitar) but it's one hell of a rockin' song.
Now, bring on next Thursday already! CoD4 maps and the double exp. weekend event should help tide me over until Tuesday.
Stupid APC... I hate it. I like the new glacier map and server organization though
@Sparx: Mike normally does these, and he's not in today. Give me a break :p
Wow. GT5 Prologue. File size: 1.78 GB I sure am glad they shipped that on a BD instead of a DVD. The additional storage space was really important. This I won't buy, but I do look forward to the complete game.
@Ichidou:
its a new update and it seem to be a real good one....but what about the guitar hero updates....i dont have the money for rock band and thus will never purchase it even with my discount its more than a ps2, psp, gamecube, xbox, a new ps2 at that, everything else is used. But where is my guitar hero updates. Tired of old songs now. and gran turismo for 39.99 ha beat that gamestop or any other store. NO TAXES on the internet FTW!!!
The store won't be complete until I can buy the expansion packs for my PSP. It's not like it'd cost them anything, really; Sony Europe and Sony America are still Sony, fer chrissakes.
I'd love to know if the Lair update has made this game worth me renting.
@Luke Plunkett:
Sorry Luke, no offense meant. I never noticed that
I downloaded the Haze trailer, along with a few themes.
I love playing Warhawk when CoD4 bores me and I'm sure I'll get the expansion eventually, but I'm waiting to see on my new gaming PC before I buy it. If it's ready tomorrow then I'll hold off and indulge myself in a weekend learning Company of Heroes and Opposing Fronts.
Either way, fun weekend for me :) !
Talk about blowing your load! It may not be the most epic load of next-gen but it's enough to make some gasp and a few chock. Cover your eyes boys and girls because Sony is delivering a lot of content right to your face :) I guess this is the PSN equivalent of a "money shot"?
good stuff right there. i got my still alive and maybe some other things before the weekend's out.
@Spartan1308: The really stupid thing is that if you buy the game on BluRay it has an install that takes nearly 6GB of space.
The direct download version takes less than 2GB. How is it that the entire game takes up less space then the install for the disc version. I almost bought it on BluRay to save disc space.
Not a bad update today. I actually didn't even check the store this evening, but then again...all I need is my MGO beta. Nothing else matters until Monday.
@okenny :): Wow, umm. What a metaphor. Not... quite sure what else to say to that. Haha.
Dual pack for Warhawk? At a reduced price? Tickle me happy.
Does anyone know anything about the add-on to Super Stardust HD?
Like, does it add anything to the main game besides bigger booms and longer songs?
@JustinS: This is just a guess as don't own a PS3 but could it be since you downloaded it to your hard drive, it doesn't need to install as. The hardest part is probably dealing with blurry transfer rates and seek time. Even if the data is compressed on the hard drive, it's just faster to access. Maybe there's extra content on the disk version that enhance the experience like a rootkit or something. I'm sure there's a logical reason hear. Just be happy it not a 6 GB download.
@JustinS: That is interesting. I wonder if they have the file size wrong on the listing for the downloadable version.
This is a good update but still considering how we had nothing for two weeks in a row, it's disappointing. I know Sony has no control over the Rock Band/Guitar Hero DLC but everyweek it's a deluge of songs for games I don't have. Would like more PS1 and echochrome type stuff.
@Spartan1308: No they have the file size right, I have the downloadable version.
@okenny :): Extra content wouldnt make sense because this is a mandatory install. You could leave all the extra stuff on the disc.
At first I thought it would take up more space once installed but it doesnt as far as I can tell. Maybe all the PS3 installs are needlessly large. I mean really harddrive space isnt free. Couldnt they have installed the game from the disc using only 2GB, then require the disc in the drive to play (instead of the PSN connection like is used everytime you play the downloadable version)?
Needs more PS1.
That's okay guys, Pixel Junk Monsters add-on next week!
hmm very nice update.
I got all seven songs, bringing the total to 123. Somebody better stop my addiction soon.
I'll start my complaining early. Nothing in this update for me at all. Not even the trailers were interesting. Been too many months since there has been anything rpg related. Oh well.
Glad to hear that so many others are loving it though. My turn will come some day.
It's like looking into a time portal.
@MoeB: No idea what that has to do with the update, but I love the NeverHood too.
Wasn't there supposed to be a Resistance 2 trailer on PSN?
Or at least something exciting after 2 weeks?
cool
I'm happy they decided to do the Warhawk booster bundle and I already downloaded it. The new maps are cool but seem like they'll need a ton of people for the vehicle layouts (they're huge) to be worthwhile. I look forward to using the APC and dropship on the older maps, though. And the new village deathmatch map on the glacier is great!
I started downloading GT5P at about 6pm this evening its now 1.28 am and its 58% done. Sony really need to sort the servers out if you pay $40 for a game you should get priority on the transfer rate, its crazy having to wait a day just to play a game like this. And no my internet connection is not slow as I downloaded a HD movie off Xbox live last night which was 6GB and it took just under 2 hours.
@MoeB: NEVERHOOD!!!!!!!!!!
still can't tell what that has to do with this, but the games awsome, so i'll let it slide
and did anyone else notice that the motley crue song Saints of los angeles for rock band isn't avaliable on the psn?
@BornToFlail:
..he...HEY! I just saw you on Warhawk like 10 minutes ago! I was jjmusicman! Eucadia CTF map, we lost! lol.
Anyway, no matter what, I'm not paying $40 for a demo.
Though $11 for both Warhawk booster packs? That's more than a deal. *runs to credit card*
I don't think anyone really knows this, but the Super Stardust HD Solo includes an option where you can listen to music from the PS3's HDD at any point in the game.
You can also set it to play a folder full of crap, so yippee!
I dunno, I've found that many more reasons to play that game :)
Not like it wasn't good already, just that it makes it more entertaining, mind you :D!!
*farts*
@xMaverick:
So is that an angle against the 360 version?
I'd love to support my PS3 with more DLC, but I can't find reason to download its versions over the 360 versions.
Um... where's the Iron Man demo?
GT5 Prologue has been in the EU store for weeks
@gravytoast:
Super Stardust HD is a ps3 exclusive.
/rolls eyes
And all we got on the PC Store - for those still too poor to get a PS3 - is a couple of new movies.
Just like old times. *spit*
@Ichidou:
Regarding SSHD update:
It adds several modes,endless,bomber and I can't remember the others.Adds easy to the arcade selection.Custom soundtrack support.I got it tuesday and I'd say it's definitely worth it!
@zombieman3421:
They were looking into it last night..
@DigiMish:
along with the EOJ set 2 update,COD4 maps,The burnout Cagney patch,the GH3 DefLeppard Songs,hopefully a socom confrontation trailer(rumour) and the Hotshots demo should hit sometime..Europe has had it for a bit.
Well crap. I just spent all that money on freaking GTAIV. I don't know if I can convince the wife to let me buy another Warhawk expansion.
Maybe I can just sneak it by her.
Dude...I had to pass up on GT5 Prologue, I got warhawk DLC instead. I'm not sure if I like the new maps yet, it's so big...and tend to lag a little.
