Feast your eyes! Here's an unboxing of the Japan-only Club Nintendo Super Famicom (SNES) controller. Like with the Classic Controller, the controller plugs directly in the bottom of the Wiimote. Cue bitching about it being Japan-only. Who hates Club Nintendo now? C'mon!

Jelousy...I feel it creeping up my spine.
I always thought the Super Famicom controller, color-wise, was cooler than the SNES controller.
I would kill for that.
I'm sure if they offered this for sale, people would but it. It's just too awesome to resist!
God, I want that so hard.
*drool*
Weird I was just waxing nostalgic about playing the original Super Mario Kart with muh 4-yr old boy in another post, and there's the very controller. Brilliant! Do want!
@Revenge_of_Nekojin:
That didn't sounded sexual at all XD.

i hate theres no edit button!
Dear god that is the epitomy of awesome.
Words cannot describe how wonderfull that is.
and now that im here:
whine whine whine whine Japanonly whine whine whine whine IhateClubNintendo whine
Looks absolutely stunning.
I´d buy one in an instant if they were sold over here.

@Revenge_of_Nekojin:
My thoughts exactly.
We should all be able to enjoy such simple greatness. Damned exclusiveness.
why couldn't the classic controller be modeled after that controller, i mean don't get me wrong the classic controller is pretty sweet, its just the L & R buttons on classic controller feel more like triggers as to the snes pad they went down in a slant which felt perfect.
@Alex_Mexico: Sums up my comment pretty well.
Jesus, it looks beautiful :D
That would go sweet with my snes emulator
oh its for wii? i thought that was usb at the end of the cable
It's beautiful! I could cry, the memories the image of that pad strikes up in my mind!
It would be interesting if they released a controler for every system on the VC, N64 games really don't feel right with the classic controler, especially the way A and B are horizontally oriented as oppesed to being vertically oriented like they are on the N64 controler.
I understand the envy of something exclusive, but its just a SNES controller. I am sure there will be third party SNES to Wii adapters.
Thank goodness for eBay™.
Do want, envy etc etc.
Fuck club Nintendo Japan. Fuck them right in the ass.
nah dont release different controllers for every system just make different adaptors that would fit onto the old controllers input jack that could plug into the wii-remote, but nooooooo that would make too sense for nintendo.
I ... NEEED this... NEED!!!111oneoneone!!11one

It was only the US that got the weird ugly purple brick-SNES, though, so my SNES had those lovely controllers. Untill my brother broke all of them as a result of mario kart fury.

Well, it's one way to ask for a controller, I s'pose.
@jackal888: Funny you mention that:
There are four of them for sale on ebay right now.
They are $80 though. :(
You could always buy the SNES to Wii controller adapter
While no where near as good, the UK (and Europe?) Star Catalogue hasn't been bad at all recently. Not as good as the Japanese one, but we get stuff other than wallpapers now. Maybe we'll get the controller?
...
Pipedream, that, I reckon.
oh man I hope it works more smoothly than the classic controler does
Sweet. Nostalgia for the win!
They will come out everywhere else too if they prove popular enough.
Oh Yeah!? Well my Super Famicom controller plugs into my super famicom...
god I'm jealous.
GREAT BEARD OF ZEUS!
I would pay $40 for that. YOU HEAR ME NINTENDO? YOU COULD CHARGE OUTRAGEOUS AMOUNTS OF MONEY AND I WOULD BUY THAT
it is bee-oo-tiful. I know i would rarely use it, and that it would sit next to my actual SNES controllers.. but this is new, and shiny and
i won't get emotional, i promised myself i wouldnt!
@Orionsaint: "You could always buy the SNES to Wii controller adapter"
Yep - got one of those and it works like a dream. Playing the likes of Super Mario World with the pad it was designed to be played on feels pretty cool.
I'm looking at three SNES controllers sitting in my controller drawer and not a one of them has the color scheme of the PAL controllers. The colors that I like more than the NTSC one (even though they aren't bad). Hell, I love the colors so much that I race to the special Star levels in Super Mario World just to see the coloured swirl. Bring this out of Japan and I'll buy one just so I can have a freakn PAL SNES controller...
I.. I.. I hate Nintendo Club for being Japan-only. Seriously, it would make a killing over here if it wasn't done poorly. *looks at the equivalent in Europe and frowns* Sorry Europe, but your club is almost as bad as having no club. :(
@aldo_14: Yeah Japan and PAL regions got the better deal there.
Why don't these things go for sale?? Doesn't Nintendo understand that it has a legion of hungry fanboys willing to buy 2 of these each?? (at least)
This is just one example of why I think Nintendo doesn't know their market outside of Japan as well as they think.
I'm so ordering this baby from Play-Asia...
Damn, I would pay money for this if I were not broke !!
whoa, that's pretty damn awesome if you ask me.
however it always seemed obvious classic controller was modeled off of the snes pad.
i'm guessing the triggers on it are analog, to make for the wii-game playing.
that would make sense for a reason why it isn't exactly like this controller.
that is pretty sweet
After reading the wiiman post I just can't help wanting to try and plug this into him.
@Shiryu: Just wish those weren't so expensive :(
Very cool and retro, though playing SNES games with the classic controller feels just fine. I don't have much great love for the SNES D-Pad, though.
I honestly thought about just making one of these instead.
[www.ppl-pilot.com] One of these days I guess. ;)
lookin verry good..
but i like my old ones better...
japan only....until someone decides to sell one. you know someone will.
This is all very pointless until they release Chrono Trigger on the VC..
Anyway, I'm pretty sure you can get the controller from Play-Asia soon - although if I got one I'd probably keep it in the box and just use a classic controller :p
Dang... I wish they also made this a Gamecube controller...
It's so awesome...
Oh Hori, you're my only hope!...
...I still have my SNES-style GameCube controller they made, very nice for things like the MegaMan collection and the GBA player. Of course I also still hoarde all my classic systems so I can usually just play classic games with the original hardware...
I was already excited about the controller but the box is incredible too! Looks just like the original Super Famicom box art.
Mine should be arriving any day now! :D
Is it just me or is Nintendo, God bless their island centric souls, the only company that could release a controller that is 20 years old and have gamers salivating?
I've had my eye on this for months now!
They're on sale at Play-Asia.
Pre-orders opening soon...
Very cool idea, but by todays standards its not the most comfortable controller. Both Gamecube and Classic emulate the SNES controller anyways.
I'm so jealous. I've never been more jealous. Help me...
@JRONJR: Yeah, pretty much. The Super Famicom ALWAYS looked better than the SNES (one of the few times Europe wasn't shafted gaming-wise, in my opinion, because they got a SFC with a SNES badge on it!)
mmm.....its so plastically wrapped and new....mmm....
Another Nintendo fuck up. You could bring this to the states and charge the same price for this as you would the Wii mote and suckers like me would buy it with a goddamn SMILE on our faces.
But no, that's not Nintendo's style, they gotta fuck shit up and piss fans off before they consider doing something right: IE Finally getting online into Mario Kart, albeit a gimped one.
Dear God.
SNES controller with a USB connector.

Hmmm. According to NCSX, the controller I preordered in 2007 is supposed to ship in April. As in, this month. Yay!
how does it work with the n64 games?
[insert bitching here]
Why is it again that there's no Club Nintendo in the states?
GASP
You sir now are in posession of the best D-pad ever. Enjoy your virtual console while it lasts (for you sill soon be out of space, and there is a murderer behind you ready to take your controller. Seriously at this point it could be any of us! My guess is Witz in the library with a hammer)
