So the Wii gets five "bonus" tracks on its version of Rock Band, does it? Five exclusive tracks, perhaps, to ease the pain over the fact the system won't support DLC? Course not. The five tracks are simply a quick, cheap workaround to that DLC problem, as they're all currently available as DLC for both the 360 and PS3. The "bonus" tracks are:
Oasis - Don't Look Back In Anger
The All-American Rejects - Dirty Little Secret
The B-52s - Roam
The Police - Roxanne
The Ramones - Rockaway Beach
Eh. Remember, though, if you're feeling a little let down by this (and indeed the whole DLC/Wii mess in general), don't blame Harmonix, they're on your side. Blame Nintendo.

No Still Alive?
Harmonix just lost my buy for the Wii version.
I can blame both...Nintendo for the no DLC, and Harmonix for the crappy song choices to add as extras...
Pore dog :(
Suuuh hungry.
If Hudson can find a way around it, so can Harmonix. Sorry guys :(, better luck next time.
Can we still blame Harmonix for the lack of character creation and online support?
I'm just waiting to hear that the European version has five less tracks.
The Police-Roxane
The B-52s - Roam
Oasis - Don't Look Back In Anger
The Ramones - Rockaway Beach
Y E S!!!!
The All-American Rejects - Dirty Little Secret
NO!!
@Cruithne: The EU version will only have 5 tracks.
@Cruithne: And cost's well.... LoL we've been down that road before.
No Wiimote, no online, no GHIII compatibility, and lame songs... Yeah I cant wait to drop $150 on this. Or whatever they are asking.
I think I'll stick with Guitar Hero.
I blame Harmonix.. there are Wiiware games with DLC.. Harmonix is just being lazy!
Crash McCloud: Still Alive? That's asking a little too much.. but why couldn't they use the Mario theme or something like that?
I guess they are still trying to keep the lack of DLC their dirty little secret.
@CockroachMan: that song isn't in either which sucks. I'm going for the 360 version.
Don't Look Back In Anger...
How ironic.
No DLC isn't the problem. The gimped POS PS2 port is. That and no GH3 controller support.
i'm no technical wiz, but i don't see how when there is Wiiware, there can't be DLC.
@CockroachMan: You mean "Do The Mario"? I think you'd better listen to that song again.
@Clarke: Swing your arms from side to side!
Wait, why can't downloaded tracks be saved to SD cards? Excitetruck can read music off the SD card so why couldn't Rockband?
@SkutSkut: All together now!
@ridleysaria: Because Harmonix is lazy and is pushing an inferior product onto the masses?
They did this already with the broken strum bar fiasco. They had a good hit with Guitar Hero, but they are losing the plot as far as I am concerned.
I won't keep a dirty little secret...
I hear a wind, whistling air, whispering in my ear where DLC should be....
And so fans can't wait, they know it's too late and they're walking on by...
Its not hard, not far to reach, We can hitch a ride to Hard Disk Beach...
Nintendo, you don't have to put on a red light...
(Nintendo) put on a red light... [repeat]

In other words, this sucks for Wii owners.
Hah, wow. That's really, really pathetic. I feel sorry for the Wii owners who'll have to settle for such an inferior version of this game, and I feel sorry for Harmonix, this game must be actually pretty depressing to develop.
Harmonix doesn't care they just want money. A lot of people have been informed about this inferior version but they don't give a damn. They don't own the other consoles nor ever will.
Yes we can blame harmonix they could very well use the SD card and encrypt the purchases to the wii that bought them.
@Yetanotheruninspiredscreename: Right, it has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that Nintendo has utterly failed to set up any kind of reasonable system for DLC delivery.
@Yetanotheruninspiredscreename:
Don't blame Harmonix just because Nintendo doesn't want to add a hard drive, even though everybody I know would buy one.
And for your information, it's not possible to have the bonus content play in the game from an SD card.
Nintendo could release their next console w/o video out ports and fans would fault television makers for not finding a workaround. Wii may have few bells and whistles, but Nintendo put just enough tech in to turn a profit.
Hey. At least their shareholders are satisfied, and that's what counts, right?
How do people not understand that "reading music off of an SD card" is not the same as playing a fully developed song on Rock Band, this is not at fault of Harmonix.
@Clarke: Or: [minibosses.com]
Or:
+ Watch video
Although the original Do the Mario would be hilarious.
Any Oasis song would be hillarious to sing when you're drunk,and the Ramones are made of 100% pure awesomes.
The only thing this is missing is the Rabbit Joint's Zelda theme.
@Crash McCloud: They probably can't use Still Alive because Portal is not on Wii.
No, I'm blaming Harmonix for those bonus tracks. Hopefully nobody is stupid enough to buy this game.
@Natpalm:
It's still the game accessing content. Harmonix have never said why they couldn't do the same.
Seems a lot of developers when queried about the SD card remain baffled by it. Only Nintendo seems able to do it.
Rememeber third party comments about Miis that they couldn't create them in the games? Turns out they could. The developers are morons. They could very well have a character creator.
There is already a dlc system Final Fantasy My Life as a King uses DLC content and it's already released in Japan. Pray tell me how a small team working on a small release gets dlc right when a big bad company cannot?
Other wiiware games use dlc and they have been working on these games longer then harmonix has been on Rock Band wii.
@Yetanotheruninspiredscreename:
Or it could be that nintendo aren't telling developers how to use them properly.
One time so they can hear it all the way in the money bin in Japan.....HARDDRIVE!!!!!!
@Yetanotheruninspiredscreename: Or, it could be that each developer has to perform this huge run-around to license Miis from Nintendo. You don't just 'get' them, you have to pay for them. That's why they're not seen in many third-party games. It's not like a Gamertag that is standard with the system.
@Yetanotheruninspiredscreename: Because a Rock Band track pack averages close to 100mb per songs and with over 200 songs planned for release.
With the DRM coming into play, it becomes a large hassle for people to delete files and change SD cards.
Rock Band's DLC is not comparable to FF's version of Horse Armor.
Why doesn't Hormonix just release a few compilation disks for a comparable price and call it good. You might buy songs you don't want but waaaaaa, I would buy it anyway and so would you. Problem solved somewhat, a lot better that the way it is. And there is no excuse for making Wii owner have no internet features and the lame world tour mode of the ps2. Another sloppy port for the Wii. Sorry, this is far more Harmonix than Nintendo. At least EA did something new for Guitar Hero III. And yes, it sucked not having my game for a month while I waited for stereo sound. But at least they did something new for us, the best selling of the current generation hardware. Unlike you know who, who obviously doesn't give a crap about Wii owners. The price shows it, the PS2 feature set shows it, and the bonus songs show it most of all. I wanted so badly to believe it wasn't a PS2 port but it is, and the DLC is only one small part of that. Harmonix really let me and a lot of other people down. Screw you Harmonix, screw you! You are not on my side.
Of all the crap@Yetanotheruninspiredscreename: Doing that might require more effort than porting the ps2 version and adding a few already made songs to it.
Whoops, that first part wasn't supposed to be there.
@Erwin: Dude, right on.
No, blaming Harmonix or Nintendo is a load of crap. We knew the limitations of the Nintendo Wii when we bought it. And yet we did any way. If you wanted a system rich with DLC, you should have bought a 360 or a Ps3.
The Wii is fine. Nothing needs to be changed. It was never meant to compete in this field with the heavy hitters like Microsoft(lolsoft imo) and Sony. Get over it!
What I still don't understand is how Character Creation was cut when a founding concern with the Wii are Miis.
Really, cutting out Character Creation makes about as much sense as axing online play for the 360's CoD 4.
Don't Look Back In Anger is my 2nd fave DLC song (El Scorcho is #1). Lots of fun to play. In fact, I own all of these songs (I'm at about 28-30 bought to date) and they're all pretty good. Not the revelation we expected, especially in light of DLC not being forthcoming on Wii, but it's not the worst thing that could happen.
Frankly, I think they should pack the Wii game disc to the gills with songs to make up for the DLC disadvantage they will be under - they'll need all the extra songs they can get to sell units.
>Why doesn't Hormonix just release a few compilation disks for a comparable price
Where would you store the compilation disc songs? Or would it include the Rock Band game, only with the new songs (none of the default game songs)? Because that would be lame. Rock Band Rocks the '80s? No thanks.
Bummer.. looks like I'm saving 150 bones for something else.
Dunno, Roxanne is a pretty sweet track.
@Gamewatcher at Busy Gamer News: Dude, reduced price for the disk, bunch of songs, boot the main disk and then swap for the 30 bucks worth of bonus content. Yeah, well if you buy a bunch of Rock Band songs form the 80's does that mean you got some better deal than buying Guitar Hero 80's? Your argument makes no sense. And No thanks for you, but if they had at least that I would reconsider purchasing it. I would pay 30 bucks for extra content. I just dropped 170 for a gutted version of a game I want, hell yes I would pay 30 more for a grip of songs, are you crazy? But as is I for one am out and I have been looking forward to buying this game for months. And none of this accounts for the nerfed world tour or lack of online options. That is all Harmonix failure as a developer, not Nintendo. It sucks there is no HD but it also sucks there is no motion controls for the 360 (yet),and there is no rumble for ps3 until recently. Each console has it's disadvantages and it is telling that the DLC is not the only thing missing from this version. It is the developers responsibility to work around hardware limitations. Harmonix failed.
Could've at least put online something on there Harmonix. :/
@Crash McCloud: Would the average Wii owner know what that song is?
The problem isn't that it's already available DLC. The problem is that it's only 5 songs. C'mon. 360 and PS3 get a nearly limitless potential for music and the Wii gets...5 extra songs on the disc. That's pretty weak.
But, being an owner of the 360 version already, this doesn't really matter to me.
I love all those songs, but could they really not pick 5 of the best DLC songs instead? You know, some ..And Justice For All or Working Man????? Thankfully, I have the PS3 version :)
Roxanne and Don't Look Back in Anger are awesome songs, though I'm not sure how well DLBiA would transfer over to Rock Band.
If Wii had a hard drive, would they make you download a few minutes of full-motion video to go with the DLC?
5 songs that people pay extra money for to play are included for free.. you might wanna check your definition of "bonus" there Luke.
Don't get me wrong, I understand the disappointment over lack of DLC on Wii and the song choices aren't my personal favorite 5 but your headline is a bit over dramatic me thinks.
@Bastard11: Think of it this way. The 360 version of Rock Band comes with one Emo song (punishment enough). The Wii owners will be forced to endure two Emo songs. That's no bonus. No bonus at all.
@Telly_Vision: Miis arent standard to the Wii? The Mii channel isnt PRELOADED on every system? You fail. Devs suck. Harmonix is lazy and is trying to get away with a shitty job.
GH Aerosmith is looking much better than Harmonix crapping on my system.
@dowingba: What they should do is have a pre-order bonus like the Aerosmith version of Guitar Hero, but with a nice pair of black rimed glasses and an earth tone sweater. Maybe a jar to collect your Emo tears. That would be nice. I'd buy that and play it alone in my room. Rock Band for one please.
@JRONJR: Now you're talking.
