Several of our readers have pointed us in the direction of a new countdown taking place at Sony Computer Entertainment Japan's website. Our hatred of countdown clocks borders on the legendary, but at least this one has a little kick to it. It involves the sound of rain, horrific noises, people panicking, and red water droplets. My money is on a new Siren game. Both the first and second game were focused on blood-red water and both were scary as hell. Hit up the site and listen to the audio a bit and see if you don't at least get a few heebies, and possibly a jeebie or two. Well be back to you with Siren 3 news in 53 hours from now.

I saw this awhile ago, I thought it was Gears of War coming to the PS3.
Whats Siren? I've never heard of it.

AK! Okay, when I was in the midst of being on the site, getting my fair share of the heebies, and more than a few jeebies, the cross breeze in my room blew the door shut, really hard. That scared the crap out of me. :(
I never played Siren, but was always interested. Next gen scary goodness.
wow if this one looks scary enough which it most likely will im going to buy it! but a good question Siren or Silent hill?(i mean the new versions if that even is siren)
@Gon: Silly! Gears already came to PS3, it's called Dark Sector though. You have to turn down the color saturation on your monitor to get the full experience though :P
I think I can pretty much confirm siren ATM. The black stuff on the right side of the screen is half of the "sa" hiragana character. Siren would be spelled something along the lines of "Sairen" in Japanese.
@okenny :): Is Dark Sector any good? Might grab it this summer after the MGS4/GTA4 madness for cheaps. Is it worth it?

SIREN 3 FTW! i just ordered my import of Siren 2 a week ago and i get even more juicy siren news. to all those who havent played the first one, its certainly not for everyone, but its hella fun. besides, its used at gamestop for 10 bucks
It's Siren 3; I can tell from the audio cues (hiragana be damned)!
I really wanted to like Siren, but it was a trial-and-error sneakfest with very little margin for error, and those games frustrate me. Not so much a survival horror game as a stealth horror game.
I only got on heebie but a bunch of jeebies, there may be something wrong with me.

Siren was a great game, with flaws , but was the game that better captured the feeling of the japanese horror movies...
Now with silent hill being done by US devs this is going to be the only japanese horror game , at least till a new fatal frame is announced :P

well if siren 3 went with the old cast, a lot of team silent worked on it! games are so much scarier when you can't just blast an enemy with a shotgun and move on ^_^
@Luna: lol i wanna see which one will scare the crap outta me... did u think that the game F.E.A.R was scary i thought it was really creepy but i loved it!
The game was on that release list that leaked out about a month ago (the one that had the Ratchet and Clank expansion on it).

Now all we need is for someone to bring Siren 2 to the US. It's a no brainer being that it was already translated to English.
Siren 2 was never released in America. I didn't even know there was a sequel.

The clock font used also looks like the same font style and format that ingame timeline uses (for 1)

Siren had an amazing amount of promise for a great story and reinventing the genre and gameplay of survivor horror. Unfortunately even with the walktrough each level (of which there was like 80) took me tries and over an hour... I may just not get it... the way you play... the game... with the looky-loo psychic voyeur mind cam... and me constantly dying...

I really liked the first one, but I don't think I ever beat it.... ah well, I love horror games, this will definitely be on my list. ^^
Hmmmmmm, well I'm hoping it's a teaser trailer for Tears of Blood, but I suppose a new Siren game would be just as cool. 2 days, 3 hours eh?...
yeah, no siren 2 for the USA, which is a shame. and for whoever mentioned a fatal frame sequel, there's one coming out relatively soon for the wii. it should be out in america by fall.
to me, siren will always be the hardest, and scariest horror game ever released. far from the best horror game since it has some glaring flaws in the gameplay(aka, the most frustrating experience i ever had as a fan of horror). but it's still worth the trouble to experience. i hope they shove siren 2 out here to the states on the cheap before they give us siren 3.

Ooooh, I do hope it's Siren 3. Love that series. Yeah, it's got its flaws, but, nothing's perfect. I wonder if some of the ex-Team Silent (Silent Hill) members will be working on this one, too. *hopes*
And, Sony, for the love of all that is good and holy, release 2 NA-side, and 3 as well, pleeeease.

@kingclip: Ditto. Though if it weren't the PSP, I suspect it'd be PS3 only, which would also sadden me. Then again, I was pretty satisfied with the trilogy; they closed the series out very nicely.

The reason I got a PS3 wasn't for MGS4... it was actually for Siren 3 =)
Resident Evil has that pop out of no where scariness, and Silent Hill's got that sick twisted wtf scariness, both were good but not like the experience Siren gave me. I guess it was because you are more helpless in Siren. They introduced characters with more powerful weapons in part 2, wish they would take that away in 3, cuz the helplessness was what did it for me in the first game.
Too bad I don't think non-Japanese speakers can enjoy this game as much cuz of it's Japanese only theme and cultural references. Maybe they'll do better translations and better voice acting this time so people other than Japan would not put the game down right away upon hearing the voices.
Well the series is from the original creators of Silent Hill 1, and I think most would agree that was the best in the series, so here to hope part 3 will be as good as Siren 1.

Yep, FF4's on the Wii and it's not even being made by the same team. Tecmo's letting the Grasshopper guys from Killer7 and No More Heroes (Suda17 and co) make it.

Well,now that i have said my final goodbye to my favourite survival series (Silent Hill),it's good to have another one coming back.
man, i got siren for PS2, but kinda sat on it. as a horror junkie, it struck me as partly one of those japanese storybook horror games, but i mightve been off - am i missing out here?

Ooh... they'd better release Siren 2 in the Sony store or something (Hay, there's an idea) If they even would think about releasing it here... Or if the story is different then the last two they might be able to get away with it.

@slomo788: Buy it when its cheap since its a rather polished game in terms of graphics and the gameplay isnt too bad either.
Its a lot nicer than other titles that have come out reciently.
If it goes down to a low price Id say its worth picking up and playing through.

Hey...great... What good is it going to do me when I live in the US -- a country that apparently HATED Siren 1? Then again, it's a PS3 game. "Horror for the next-gen!" will probably be the tagline.
Siren started out really scary, but then it got so frustrating that it became tedious. I really liked the concept, but there was one level that I could never beat. Something about zombie snipers with ridiculously deadly aim...
