Now they push out games because they have the power to.....
So...let me get this straight. No pricing on just the disc?
waaaait the wii is the same price as 360 and ps3 now? what?
Finally! I've never bought GH but this one looks good! I'll have to check it out.
What? Those of us who get the game alone aren't getting squat now?
Hey, I'm not buying the crappy PS2 port of Rock Band so I guess Aerosmith it is. Whaa wahh whaaaa...... Could have been worse, could have been Meatloaf. And hey, all the young dudes, carry the news. Come on, carry the news...
Augh, God. I guess sooner or later I'm going to have to accept that this game is real. Mercy.
I'm really not sure about the whole marketability of the thing. How many of us are die-hard Aerosmith fans to the point of paying that much in order to be able to mimic them?
I'd buy it if it were a Pink Floyd, Beatles, or Queen-based Guitar Hero. Sorry Neversoft, but Dream On, i'm not that Crazy.
Honest question: are their forum goers here that are interested in this game and are considering purchasing it?
I personally feel this sets a bad precedent. But I'm not the target audience regardless.
@JRONJR: Hey! What's wrong with meatloaf? Oh, you were talking about the one with a capital M, the musician. Carry on then.
worst idea ever
How much is Gamestop's buy-back for a brand new 360/PS3 game?
It's a AAA title, after all.
So buy the bundle for hundred, sell the game for maybe $40? That's a $60 brand new wireless guitar....
That's a discount...right? And heck, it'd be $40 for a bit, so you could get some quick Achievements or Accomplishments or something before hand.
Guitar Hero has jumped the shark.
"You talk about things that nobody cares"
The band really says it best themselves. With, you know, really bad grammar.
@TRT-X: No guitar hero achievements are quick and easy.
Those first two lines summed up my feelings pretty succinctly. :D
Having a guitar bundle actually makes this a more likely purchase. I need another guitar. Then again, I might just buy two of those third party guitars that work for both Rock Band and Guitar Hero, sell my Guitar Hero controller, and finally cave in and buy Rock Band and a drum set.
Any hope of being able to buy this on the online stores as add ons? Don't really see the point of buying a new guitar hero just for the few aerosmith "inspired" songs.
Joe Perry!!! JOE PERRY!!!!!
I LIKE Aerosmith, I don't love them. I have a feeling this is going to fail horribly. I just don't feel like playing a bunch of Aerosmith songs, plain and simple. I know there are supposedly other songs that inspired them, but still. I like having the mix-up and being able to play different genres in a sitting. I really just don't get where they are coming from on this one. I think this will sell less then any of the other guitar heroes, maybe even Guitar Hero DS.
if there were no Aerosmith, there would be no Slash.
@male roof blower: Don't do it. Don't buy that PS2 port. Hormonix is crapping all over your Wii. Don't let them crap on your Wii.
I have no interest in buying this, but if I was, I'd probably be wondering whether it comes with the original faceplate or only the Aerosmith one.
@Ryfael: I'm with you on this one.
@JRONJR: "Hormonix" you have no idea how hard I laughed.
@Luna: And if there were no Slash, this crazy world wouldn't make any sense at all.
@Luna:
I'm ok with that.
Guns and Roses was by no means a gift to my ears.
*waits for everyone who earlier said $90 for Wii Fit was a huge rip-off to say the same thing about this.
@Dumari: what about James Hetfield? he's a HUGE Aerosmith fan.
@JRONJR: the only thing Aerosmith shouldn't have done was do "Walk This Way" with Run-DMC. it made rap/hip-hop/whatever popular.
@Ryfael: Nice, a Happy Days reference. Too bad the shark didn't eat him. Eaaaaaa.... Ahhhhhhh!!!! Now the Fonz only has one leg. Eaaaa....
Yeah, I'm a huge GH fan, but I'm probably going to avoid this one until it ends up in the bargin bin. I just don't think I can stand a GH with 60% Aerosmith. A few songs? Sure! But 24-ish out of 40 songs? That's just stupid.
I got love for my fellow Bostonian. If they only didn't make "I don't want to miss a thing". It was just, just...
This song is THE staple Karoke pop song, right after "She's Gone" in Korea
I loves me some Aerosmith, but I'm officially an Audiosurf convert now. Maybe if every Guitar Hero to date were compiled into a single collection for a reasonable price, then I'd hop back.
I'm sure all the kiddies will dig this just as much as Rock the 80's..
You guys don't know what your talking about. The Dragon Ball Z movie is going to rock... wait, what where we talking about again?
I suspect that this will do pretty well. Aerosmith has been around a long time and has a big following. After we saw this was coming out, some friends and I had an entire dinner conversation about what bands could actually make good Guitar Hero expansions. Other than Aerosmith, we came up with Van Halen, Rolling Stones and (perhaps) Metallica. You need a band with 1) an extensive well-known catalog and 2) with a large following over decades, and not many bands can do that. The Grateful Dead for example meet category 2, but not 1. Can anyone else think of bands that could do well on their own Guitar Hero expansions?
@Yaven: "Sorry Neversoft, but Dream On, i'm not that Crazy."
oh i get it, they're names of Aeosmith songs. very clever young man. :)
I, for one, love them. They're THE one band that caught my attention when I was 8 or so, and initiated me in the world of rock and roll, and to them I owe much of my current hobbies (playing in an actual rock band included). They're no longer my #1 band, but easily take a spot in the top 5.
Now, I agree it might sound strange that they are the first choice for a band-centered Guitar Hero game, and that bands such as Queen, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, or maybe even Metallica might sound like more natural choices. Still, hear me out:
Aerosmith has always been very open to new medias, videogames included. They've starred at least two games that I know of, (one of them being a guitar game, incidentally). Add to that their versatile repertoire that goes from blooze-rock to heavy-hitters to power ballads, their ability to mix things up with hip-hop beats and orchestral scores, and their continuous popularity, plus the fact that they have perhaps one of the most recognizable lead guitarists in activity, and the choice becomes much more understandable.
So, naturally, I'm gonna love it, I better own it, I'm gonna love it, and God knows it...
That said, I'm not too keen on this faceplate. I'd rather have a smaller band logo off to the side, where it's not cropped or obscured by the guitar's parts. Easy enough to fix by slapping on a custom Aero decal on a vanilla faceplate.
This is Neversoft's chance to redeem theirselves for the failure that was Guitar Hero 3. Maybe they fixed, well, everything. Then I might get GH4.
@Luna: Ummmm, are you saying that rap/hip hop/whatever wouldn't and shouldn't be popular? Backing slowly away.....
@JRONJR: I don't believe I said anything about a PS2 or Wii.
Just one Aerosmoth song would be enough to attract all Aerosmith fans.
A game full of Aerosmith songs is only going to alienate people who don't like Aerosmith, which is everyone with taste.
@Fryfat: I must have missed the part where you became the definitive answer for what music is good and what music sucks.
@male roof blower: That is true, but since we were talking about the Wii I did make an assumption. If you have a 360 or PS3 then Harmonix left a lovely floral arrangement on your console. But on mine they crapped. And I didn't see them wipe either. Or wash their hands. Yuck!
All the Aerosmith songs that have appeared in either Guitar Hero or Rock Band just aren't fun to play (obviously just my opinion). A whole game of (mostly?) Aerosmith sounds truly awful.
It'll most definitely be my first ever non-purchase in the Guitar Hero franchise. A Van Halen edition might get some money from me, though (only if they take out the boss-battles mechanic, though).
@Fryfat: @Fryfat: Ouch, and all together not true. Now I would rather Janie shoot me than listen to that song one more time in my life, but they used to kick ass a long time ago. When I was to young to remember. I'm 33, but that's besides the point. At some time before the mid 80's they had some kick ass tunes.
@male roof blower:
Aerosmith fan spotted
I'm holding out for Guitar Hero: Beatles. What? Really? Never in a million years? Damn.
@male roof blower:
Workin like a dog for the boss man
Workin for the company
Im bettin on the dice Im tossin
Im gonna have a fantasy
But where am I gonna look
They tell me that love is blind
I really need a girl like an open book
To read between the lines
(chorus)
Love in an elevator
Livin it up whn Im goin down
Love in an elevator
Lovin it up till I hit the ground
Jackies in the elevator
Lingerie second floor
She said can I see you later
And love you just a little more
I kinda hope we get stuck
Nobody gets out alive
She said Ill show you how to fax
In the mailroom, honey
And have you home by five
(chorus)
In the air, in the air, honey one more time
Now it aint fair
Love in an elevator
Lovin it up when Im goin down
Love in an elevator
Goin down
(chorus)
Gonna be a penthouse pauper
Gonna be a millionare
Im gonna be a real fast talker
And have me a love affair
Gotta get my timin right
Its a test that I gotta pass
Ill chase you all the way to stairway, honey
Kiss your sassafrass
@Fryfat: Release the hounds.
I like maybe 3 of there song, but I want a second guitar so the bundle it is, at any rate can always trade the game in but with the promise of other bands on the album there still maybe a keeper in there some where.
You know fryfat, now that you mention that Aerosmith sings "Kiss my sassafrass" I'm sold. You say it like it's a bad thing.
And yes, there are some great non AS songs. All the Young Dudes by Mott the Hoople is on there. I've always loved that song, long before Juno resurrected it. That alone to me almost makes it worth it. Plus I want a second guitar before the Christmas season when GH4 comes out. This really isn't that bad of a deal for people in my position.
Not a big Areosmith fan, so this won't be my particular brand of vodka. But to each their own! I think focusing on a handful of bands rather than one band might have been safer, but I suppose the only bands (if you are picking just one) that could POSSIBLY have a bigger following (in no particular order) would be the Stones, the Beatles, Rush or KISS. I suppose Pearl Jam/Metallica/Nirvana/etc fans might be bigger then some of those bands in the normal videogame demographic ages, but I'm just guessing.
@JRONJR: There were a few big Rap/Hip Hop hits before Aerosmith sang that song with Run-D.M.C. as well, so it it's like Areosmith singlehandedly put Rap in the limelight.
*cough*Rappers Delight*cough*
I hope they do Limp Bizkit next!!!! not.
@JRONJR: I have Guitar Hero on PS3. I don't want to get Rock Band until they fix compatibility issues between the controllers because I hate the Rock Band guitar controller.
@Fryfat: Actually, no. I just think it is stupid when someone makes a blanket statement like that as if they are the definitive in music taste.
@Fryfat: That was not necessary.
kiss my sassafras
@VakeroRokero: Guitar Hero: Limp Bizkit? Hey I'd buy that...no seriously, I would.
Guitar Hero - Harmonix = No thanks.
I hate Aerosmith.
