They are still putting out a gimped edtion and charging full price for it. Making players either "pay up front or try to rank up online while the "gold edition" buyers pwn you is still B.S.
So who's NOT getting this game. I'm not.
Ahhh EA, I love your enthusiasm for capitalism and the free market. You would do Rockefeller, Ford, and Daniel Day Lewis oh-so proud.
Any word on BF:Heroes?
Yes please!
Had a go with the beta a few weeks back. LOVED it!
And then i found a floating palm tree. LOVED IT EVEN MORE!
It's great driving in a tank and taking out the whole corner of a building.
not for me...
The beta was pretty fun, I'll have to decide closer to the release date.
I don't think I need to even play this game now after playing the beta. It was fun, but the progression in ranks seems so pointless compared to COD4. Once you get all the equipment the rest of the unlocks don't make much of a difference at all.
@nxp3: Yup, screw this. The beta sucked, was just like modern combat. Real battlefield is dead :(
What's with all the big name games like GTA and BF releasing at the ass end of the month? It's to the point when I'm told a game will come out in August, I just go ahead and assume it will closer to September.
@Mr.SithNinja: The unlockable weapons don't give those who have it any competitive advantage. Why don't you go over to Xbox 360 Fanboy and watch their video comparing the weapons before you senselessly bash EA.
Sorry, I'm just tired of all this bitching about unlocking weapons or buying them when they're hardly worth either option.
I know it'll sell like hotcakes, but I personally enjoy the joke this game has become.
I may pick up the game when it's used and gone down in price... at least that way, EA isn't getting my money... Gamestop is.
I'm not helping EA with their sneaky fat ninja tactics.
@ShirtGuyDom:
Always need the "devil's advocate". Glad someone else played the part in this.
Think about it, just like in COD4 any one weapon really gives people advantage over another? NO.
The beta is a lot of fun, but one online mode for a full priced game? No thanks.
@ShirtGuyDom:
Thank you! Someone who actually checks their facts instead of instantly flying into nerd rage!
Looks interesting enough. Hell, it's free. Of course I'll try it.
@ShirtGuyDom:
i have the beta and i know the chart doesnt show any advantage but if theres no advantage why would anyone buy them?
ill be passing bf:bc i hate to support eas tactics,or attempted ones anyways.
@ShirtGuyDom: Videos don't show you how a weapon is used.
It really should be no surprise, but the unlockable weapons in past battlefields generally did not have any type of advantage.... though some did! Some were worse than defaults, some were better... some were really MUCH better in some cases.
@whiptcracker:
the final game has more than one mode.....and more than 2 maps too.
@Kyle81:
I wouldn't say it's dead...if I want a Battlefield fix and can just hop on BF2 PC. There's still a ton of servers with tons of people playing at any given time.
@Truepatriot:
Not according to recent developer interviews. More than 2 maps? Yes. More than one mode? No.
Look it up.
@exkon: Just like real life. Bullet in the brainpan always makes a squish. No matter what gun it was fired from.
@gils0n: Oh of course, it's like the #3 top played PC FPS still, but some new content and versions would be nice. Sadly it looks like just more consolefied battlefields is all we are going to get.
@ShirtGuyDom:Oh ok that's even better. Charge extra for weapons that give you no advantage at all. What's the point of that? Advantage or no advantage, either way EA is screwing over somebody. If they had just made one edition of the game with all the guns either included or excluded then I would have no problem.
I already canceled my Gamestop preorder for this game. I got in the beta from the beginning, but only played a few times. There are way to many issues with this game.
1 online mode
No prone position
No Parachutes (a Battlefield staple)
No Conquest Mode (a Battlefield staple)
DICE DEVS: "Hey, lets make call of duty 4, but put in vehicles and partially destructive environment."
@Kyle81:
Battlefield 3 for the PC is in the works as we speak.
[www.digitalbattle.com]
well the gold edition will just be the limeted Edition of BF:BC as for as im concernd and also i think it will wipe the floor with call of duty 4.
also @AnonymousFinger
its a beta game and things can change ya know thire will have the things that wheren't in the beta game but in the propper game.
Just hope it kills COD4 cose i hate that fucking game.
@Capt_Birdseye: It has no chance in hell of selling anywhere near what COD4 has. It will be lucky to sell about as much as Rainbow Six Vegas 2 has.
@nxp3: Here's another guy who's not going to buy it. I'd wait for Mercenaries 2 but seeing as it's E(let's screw gamers over)A publishing it as well I don't think I'll put money down for that either.
well u never know m8 it could happen Halo3 was selling like cakes untill COD4 came and took over the partie and u never know BF:BC might just do that. but im def getting the game.
I don't think it's trying to compete with CoD4. CoD is a hardcore military shooter, BF:BC seems to be more playful
the beta was sooooooo much fun. i'll for sure be getting this.
CoD4 on ps3/360 and BF 2142 on the PC is all I need.
Or BF2 but I forgot my account info and I dont feel like starting over to reunlock....Christ after I wiped out my HD I dont think I still remember my 2142 account info. ARG I had like everything unlocked! God I loved the hover tanks in 2142, so fun.
@Capt_Birdseye:
"its a beta game and things can change ya know thire will have the things that wheren't in the beta game but in the propper game."
Why do people insist on thinking the game is going to change between the beta and the release? The beta is ONLY to check for bugs and optimize the network performance. The DICE Dev's have already stated this.
I don't think I'll be getting this one. And no, it's not because of the weapon controversy or anything but rather, it's the Beta that worried me. Shooting an entire clip to take down someone and sniper rifles that a dog could use... While I recon it was nice to see an old health bar back, it's so much fun when I drop down from a certain place and lose half my health. Between jumping down some stairs and getting a face full of lead, I'd take the stairs but apparently in BF world gravity is a bitch.
Oh and well there's the Battlefield clichés. You know the, "drive my jeep full speed ahead while not-waiting-for-my-buddies and ramming it in a wall ( that is uterly destroyed this time! Whoa!) And then run to an helicopter to parachute down to a waiting tank below... You know, coolness right?
So I had fun with the Beta but all in all, I don't think it can dethrone CoD4 for me.
So, Ninja Gaiden 2 comes out on June 3 and MGS IV comes out on June 12, but they thought June would be a good time to release this game?
@exkon: Yeah, that's why charging for them separately made people so angry. @Truepatriot: I don't know why anyone would buy them (or now, the Gold Edition). I guess people who have to have everything as soon as possible. @Kyle81: What does that question mean? The video over at X3F comparing the weapons shows how they compare to each other. I think it's pretty self-explanatory how you use a sniper rifle or a shotgun... @Mr.SithNinja: I didn't say it was better. I didn't even say it was good. I said it's pointless to bitch about it every chance people get. Seriously, I don't get what all the fuss is about.
@Pezdispenser: It's no longer free and the guy who wanted it to be free got fired.
Im still gonna buy it. I just hope they dont flood 80% of the APs with fucking MP only ones.
I'm probably gonna buy it too.Mainly because it does one thing COD4 doesn't do..Let's me drive a M1A2 and blow stuff up.I'm not much of a copter jockey,but Mechanized Armor is where it's at.
As long as they don't bring up that garbage about charging for weapons or ammo then it's all good!
