Hey kids! Better get a parent's permission before purchasing Capcom's Bionic Commando: Rearmed for Xbox Live Arcade or PlayStation 3! Various ratings organizations have made the call, and the game has gotten mature ratings all around, due to violence and such. The announcement is being made via the Bionic Commando website in the form of a cute little faux in-game communique, which makes references to other Capcom titles like Lost Planet and Dead Rising. Just remember kids, if your parents give you any grief, the game is all about making Hitler's head explode, and if they don't support that sort of thing they are goose-stepping, tiny-mustache wearing Nazi supporters.

....for mediocre?
HEAD EXPLOSION CONFIRMED!!!!!!
Heh, clever. Can't wait to make Hitler's head asplode.
Is this the first "M" rated game available by download? I'm not aware of any others...
That's ....... strange. What did they CHANGE to get an M rating????? It can't be because of the head explosion alone, can it?
This is a very, very strange decision. Game should be rated E or T. If I was able to play it as a kid, so should the kids today.
Well, that's my opinion anyway.
They should have made everyone Legos and made you fight non-descript evil forces.
I'm really excited for this game. The original was awesome and this looks even better. Updated classics FTW!
The "Xbox Live Arcade of PlayStation 3".
I'd like that.
@DARTH_TIGRIS: there was no ratings then. They edit rereleases all the time because of this.
Wasn't it reported a while back that the ESRB reviewing system was severely broken and non-nonsensical.
Wow. That's hardcore.
Well I am happy to see nothing was changed to bring it to PSN and Xbox Live. I am looking forward to playing this game again to see if the game still is fun or not.
For this game to get an M rating, Will Bionic Commando: Rearmed feature Hitler head explosions on par with Hokuto No Ken, or just Scanners? Either way is fine.
Lol,somebody never spell checked there posttttttt!
'...for Xbox Live Arcade of PlayStation 3!'
@TaggarT6: non-nonsensical? Does that make it sensical?
i think it's important for all children ages 5 and up to be able to blow up Hitler's head this game should be rated E... otherwise the Nazi's won
ESRB is full of lulz.
@Chippy180: Last time I checked, of is a word. Spell check would have done nothing.
Anyone heard any grumblings about this game coming to the PSP in the future?
@jesp3r: Sorry, Don King killed the spellchecker. Fixing that.
Now that it's rated "M" can we put Hitler back in the game Capcom?
AND IN MY DEFENSE.....of is spelled correctly.
@KillerBee:
I was sort of hoping someone would've flamed you for your obvious troll by now, but maybe im just an evil cynic like that.
Anywho, yah, thats kinda lame that they changed it to M. I mean, im pretty sure that even HD its not gonna scar any kid. Sure as hell didnt me.
Is that Matt LeBlanc giving me orders? I'd never follow Joey into battle.
@Chippy180: You mean 'their' post, right? Oh the irony...
@Mike Fahey: It was just a minor grammar error... Happens to everyone. *pat*
@Mike Fahey: CONFIRMED! Don King video game encourages senseless Spellchecker/Clippy the Paperclip murder!
@Rodent: I have heard the developers speak on that. They said if it did it would have to cost the price of a regular PSP game(29.99 USD to 39.99 USD). They did not say anything about doing it, maybe if it is sucessful sales wise online they would consider it. The head explode is why it is M for Mature. Just that one part of the game.
I've been keeping up with this game for awhile. Listening to their podcast; fan of the original etc. In the last podcast they bring this up. And the ONLY reason why this game is getting rated M is because the head explosion at the end of the game is supposed to last for 30 long, juicy, slow motion seconds. I imagine angels are supposed to sing too.
@Mike Fahey: That is not good enough. The only thing we accept here is if you were drunk. Now, have you or have you not been drinking? Answer honestly, we have ways to see if you lie.
I'm LOVING this new Capcom cross-platform synergy!
Does this mean after I make Hitler's head asplode I will get the opportunity to photograph it erotically?
@StupidityTries: There are a few M rated games on Xbox Live Arcade: Doom, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, Marathon 2: Durandal. PlayStation Network has some as well: Cash Guns Chaos, Mortal Kombat II, etc.
Exploding Hitler's head FTW.

Advance with Caution...
@Chippy180: I think Fahey forgot to use the context checker, since 'of' is spelled correctly but used incorrectly. You, on the other hand, forgot to use your homonym checker. It would've told you that 'there' and 'their' sound the same, but have different meanings...
As for Bionic Commando: Rearmed, I'm hoping that the new, M-rated build includes more of the blood and guts and nudities that we the gamers crave to the very depths of our black and twisted souls. I also hope that they include some sweet, sweet Mike Patton voice-work to get us all stoked for the new Bionic Commando game!
What did I just vote for at the end, there?
Hey! Someone put blood in my violence!
this is a good thing for us adults that have kids. But I am sure it's a far stretch to consider this game M rated. Unless more than just violence there are swear words and such.
Haaaaaaal! He's.... he's gone.....
1 head explosion is enough to get an M rating?
@male roof blower:
Whoops! I put one too many nons in my comment. Dang, that means I've reached my non quota for the week. :(
@Mav: Yeah, what the hell was that?
Anyway, that video was awesome.
@StupidityTries: There's also "Cash, Guns, Chaos", and nearly everything on Steam...
This is an unfortunate by-product of the world of gaming today.
Back in the day, when games were still considered to be "for kids", even really violent and adult-oriented games were A-OK as far as anyone cared.
Today, with a rating system in place (which is a good thing, as it allows games like GTA to be released without reasonable people thinking they shouldn't be released, alot of the games we enjoyed as kids are now thought of as not-suitable.
If I was a parent, I'd let my kids play most of the M-Rated games I play. But it's up to the parent. And alot of kids will miss out on an awesome game because of this rating.
But as I said, it's just an unfortunate by-product of an otherwise good system we have in place today.
(My main beef with the ESRB is that Zelda games get T ratings nowadays. You can't sit here and tell me that Twilight Princess is anything but kid friendly.)
@KillerBee: hmmmmmm. i smell flame-bait, so i will pass go and collect $200
I've been keeping up with the bionic commando podcast and they mentioned rearmed getting rated M in episode 12 I believe. Anyway, the game's producer comments that the reason why Rearmed is getting rated M is because the head explosion is supposed to last for 30 long, juicy, slow motion seconds. It's supposed to be quite gory.
@KeroseneClimax: Wow they gave Marathon on XBLA an M rating? I own the game and never noticed this somehow. On what criteria I wonder? I mean even with the HD "upgrade" (I always play with the original GFX), the worst thing is probably the b.o.b.s exploding/dying, and I've seen things on that level in T rated games before, IMO.
@KillerBee: Get out of here you nerd!
Strange. I don't remember anything REALLY not suitable for kids in this game.
Well, when I play it, people better bleed. Alot. Like epic amounts.
@jackal888:
Thanks for the reponse.
Hopefully if they do they'll follow the Patapon pricing and release it for $19.
Wishful thinking I know.
@KillerBee: Don't be hasty. Proceed with Caution.
@i_am_not: Hitler's graphic exploding head? Haha, I remember when I first saw it... It's true, for game players, violence was like Porn... Sneaking to friend's houses to play MKII, feeling a rush playing wolfenstein on an old 486... Ah, good times.
@DaiMacculate: Apparently it was given this rating for blood and gore. When it was first released it didn't have a rating at all - due to the lack of the ESRB at the time - but since it's sequels are M rated, so is this game. http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/m/marathondurandalxboxlivearcade/default.htm I've never played Marathon, but like Zone of the Enders 2, it was probably given an M for the sake of consistency.
