Pre-ordered Okami Wii? You're in luck. Capcom is sending out handmade thank you cards with exclusive Okami stamps and made from recycled fibers and embedded with seeds to those who pre-ordered the game via the Capcom Store. You can plant these thank you cards and sage plants will grow! This is the thank you card that keeps on giving. Or growing, rather.
Thanks for the love [Capcom Blog]

Damn, wish I'd pre-ordered now.
That'll GROW SOME INTEREST in the title.
I'm sorry, internet.
O-O-Okami!
That is seriously cool.
I want those freakin stamps! Now!
I wish I had pre-ordered from Capcom store. Damn you Amazon... I want my sage.
I wasn't aware this was a game people were pre-ordering in the first place. It's not exactly a huge release. Sure, us here in Kotaku-ville are all psyched for it, but we're the minority guys and that's probably why Okami PS2 sold so badly. Happy Feet, on the other hand, sells quite nicely.
I bought Okami for the PS2 on opening day and all I got was the game.
...The year's best game!
shit, let me echo everyone else: wish id've pre-ordered, its just...i loved it on PS2, and wish it extremely well on the Wii but capcom, i can only buy your games so many times, no matter how much i love them.
That's really very cool.
Wait.. I could still get the stamps. Time to buy a second Copy from April 15 - 22!!!
This is a very nice touch from Capcom, its the sort of thing that sets Okami apart from most other games. The fanbase don't bitch moan and the company truly cares about its fans and its game. This is just the icing on the cake.
Wow that's freakin awesome!
Maybe this is a step in the right direction for making more green-friendly crap- it's still a waste of paper and glue and all the other materials, but maybe we'll begin to see more biodegradable stuff in our packaging- there is biodegradable plastic out there that could work for shrinkwrap, although as games are probably going to go the "download-only" route with the nexgen consoles (8th gen), companies would be lax to try to adopt this soon un-needed tech.
Um, I hope that they make basil stamps for MH Wii, as no Capcom stamp-herb garden could be complete without Basil. Afterwards, Rosemary and Thyme, and mint would also be nice. (Thinking on MH, if the Aels/cats get more use in teh Wii version then maybe catnip stamps)
Grr.. Capcom can't let people comment. lol
How technology has grown.
>sage
Oh curses for me using game stores to buy games. D:<
@denki: Right, I think maybe you're referring to plastics made from corn husks? It has a degrade time of 80 days, I think. I only remember this because I watched a special where the big thing was "we give beverages out using cups made from corn!" And, well, paper is always recyclable and degrades swiftly, and you can make glue with some really simple components, one of which is flour and water.
I would've loved to own this, and it fits in so well with the theme of the game, but lacking both the actual hardware and owning the PS2 version, I really can't bring myself to spend the money. So I'll just watch and yearn.
Sage plants have the coolest looking leaves, in my opinion.
I feel terrible. I bought Okami on PS2 when it was released and I still haven't played it.
I keep buying games up before I can finish the ones I already own. I guess it's justifiable though considering that some of them are discontinued if they don't sell well.
Darn them, I really want to pre-order and give them my money for such a pretty game, but they won't deliver to Europe! (I brought my US Wii with me)
@SenorCerebrum: I currently have a stack of shinkwrapped games waiting for me. Young me wouldn't have that problem. I'm sure it's a disorder or something, but games really aren't in the way of anything else I do.
This is a very thoughtful preorder incentive though, too bad it's not available anymore.
Damnable! I wish the USPS would consider selling these awesome stamps.
Damn me and my refusal to pre-order games!
@Angryrider: Well, you can make custom photo stamps, so I'm sure with a nice piece of fanart you could have your own Okami stamps made.
@SenorCerebrum: I don't know what else you have been playing, but I know this - it's not as good as Okami.
Witch magic, thats what this is. Sage from a thank you card? Preposterous!! :)
Does anyone know if the Nintendo Power review stuff is true? I don't have the magazine but I read that the 7.5 review of Okami on Wii (May 2008 issue) says:
"The controls just didn't make the jump to Wii as well as they should have… Okami is a work of genius,
but you should play the original [PS2] game instead of the Wii version if you can."
Can anyone verify that? It's more flamebait fodder than anything but I'm curious.
@Adam In Texas: That doesn't jive. Why would a Nintendo magazine denounce a game for their own platform and recommend the version for the competition?
@denki: That's what I was thinking too. Is the May issue out yet?
aaawww those are cute, i want one :o(
@Miksho: Ahahaha. Nice one.
Do you just plant these and water them and plants will grow or what? That's... ridiculous. O____O
@Adam In Texas:
I saw that review in the issue and went WTF. This is what happens when nintendo sells their magazine to a European company.(FUTURE)
meh! I really want this game! nothin makes you want a game more than free stuff!!
@dowingba:
The small release games are the one you actually SHOULD pre-order. Though Okami may actually be found in mainstream retailers (Wal-mart, Target, Best Buy, etc.), a lot of smaller titles (most Atlus releases) you won't find in brick-and-mortar stores other than Gamestop and its ilk, and for those titles, the number they order is highly dependant on the number of pre-orders they get. Now, if you buy all your games online it's less of a problem.
where was the love when I bought it for the ps2?? :*(
nah but seriously, that's a great thank you present. what a beautiful game.
Based on all the "wish I had pre-ordered through Capcom" responses (self included) they probably only had to ship 2-3 of these and are getting great free publicity for it. ;)
That said.. have the game for the PS2, bought it about a month after it came out, and think the Wii version sounds interesting.. but I just can't quite pull the trigger when I already have the game and it doesn't sound that much different. I may do the "bad" thing and wait for it to drop this time around... (that's forgivable if you bought the PS2 version at full price, right?)
Hell yeah, I can sage up my turkey stuffing!
How bout us folks who bought the game before it was ported to the Wii? Wheres my bloody seeds Capcom!? You know what you can take your effin' sage and shove it right back up your Wii-lovin' as...why'd you have to go and hurt me baby?
Ooooh....I hope it's Sage & Sour :) stuff is delicious!
I almost wish I'd preordered it from the Capcom store but then I remember preordering Phoenix Wright Trial and Tribulations from the Capcom store. No thanks.
Ugh... Now they tell me that after I pre-oder it over the weekend at another place... Curse you Capcom! Cure youuu!... Oh well, at least I get to enjoy the new version.
They should have been clover seeds! And I don't think I have to explain why...
rainking187:
I hear you. worst experience evar. although, if capcom was smart they would offer pages of the stamps available on their webstore.
Sage goes in every field...
42! I love it.
Wow! That's a pretty interesting way to get people to grow more plants
@Justin42:
If I were you, I wouldn't feel bad about not getting the Wii version on launch.
When you bought it for PS2, you showed support for Clover Studio - the studio no longer exists.
Buying it for the Wii means "Hooray, Ready at Dawn does decent ports" and "Yay! Capcom can just port games onto Wii to make money instead of making something new for the console."
