Dammit Sega, quit teasing me already! I've got it preordered, okay? I've read the novelization of the film by Peter David, I've got movie tickets for midnight on my birthday, I have several of the action figures sitting on my desk in action poses, and my desktop wallpaper is Iron Man pounding his fist into the ground, as he is wont to do. You don't have to sell me anymore. Yes, it is nice to see the unlockable armors in action, along with confirmation that each of them will have their own stats, but really...we get it. I'm telling you guys, this had better be the best damn comic book video game ever or I'm going to start biting people.

This game is looking so good. I squeal everytime I see the trailer on TV for the movie.
Truly awesome. I can't wait for this game to actually turn out to be good... We may be waiting longer than we think, but hopefully not.
Well this game sure is the best looking comic-videogame as of now. Better than that new Hulk game, which I'm totally put off by.
I'm waiting to hear from a Dark Knight game though, a good one I mean. They could do soooo much :/ I'd love an open world style Batman game.
Also do you really have this one pre-ordered? O_O Must really like it then :)
Seeing as I own a 360 that's probably what my screen will look like, Silver Centurian and all. I really hope they release a demo for the game because after watching some of those gameplay videos it seems like there could be control issues. If it plays decent enough, I might give it a try. After the movie. I don't need anything spoiling that experience.
Iron man is my homeboy..
I think that this could be the first movie game that I don't want to wipe my ass with.....
@Candlejack: There's always Lego Batman to look forward to.
@Skitzoap:
Ditto.Also squeal everytime the normal Iron Man trailer comes on TV.
Can't wait to take the Hulkbuster armour out on a rampage across the city!
is the iron man game a sponsor of this 'blog'?
I really want this game to be good. Heck, I'd put up with average, just please don't suck.
I'm really hoping for this game to be good.
Like usual, I'm iffy about movie based games. Comic book games I can take, but when merged together with a movie, you don't know if you have the cure for cancer, or the next atomic bomb.
@captain_laxpants: I would look forward to it but unfortunately I have little interest in Lego games - not because they are bad. I think they are quality games and above the average movie-to-videogame. But I just want a realistically themed game. Now Batman is one of the least exploited characters in videogames, so I'm hoping for a Batman game that can improve what Spiderman 2 built upon, where Spiderman 3 failed horribly.
I still don't know about this game.The video on gamespot of the dev playing it for like 10mins didn't really show Iron Man in any danger.He shot things and ripped the turrets off tanks and that was it.The enviroments were huge though.
Their GUI really does look Halo3erifc!
I used to like Iron man. But after seeing him get beat down by the Hulk (making his suit look like it was made of Aluminum foil instead of Iron) caused me to lose my interest in him.
Can someone please tell me what makes this movie tie-in any different from the bajillion others out there that failed to impress? The only games based on movies I recall being any good were Riddick and Spidey 2.
This is shaping up to be another Ghost Rider run of the mill action title...
@Mike Fahey: Iron Man pounding his fist into the ground, as he is want to do.
Not to be a grammar Nazi, but I think you meant "as he is wont to do."
Thanks! I constantly get want and wont mixed up.
Oh, and banned.
I kid. :)
Aw man I'm excited for this game too. I really like classic and Ultimate armors.
Actually, I hate to admit it, but the TMNT game was pretty good. I bought it for my son to play and ended up happily beating it. Am I ashamed to admit it? A little.
Ammo for fanboys: Except the screenshot of the ultimate suit, all the shots are from the 360 version. OKAY FIGHT!
Just kidding.
Not entirely sure about the game, screenshots look great but wasn't hugely impressed by the gameplay videos. The movie however looks incredible. The trailers also have featured awesome music so far. I really hope it lives up to the trailers.
the movie comes out the day before my birthday so im definately gonna see it for free, so if it sucks i dont have to pissed that i wasted my money.
Is it really a comic book game or is it a comic book movie game?
I don't want to rain on your parade Fahey but don't get too excited. You might get dissapointed.
@Silverwolf: You're kidding right? If anything, I'm surprised Iron Man lasts as long as he does in any sort of hand to hand combat with the Hulk. The Ultimates version ripped wolverine and his supposedly unbreakable skeleton in half...
Back on topic, soo excited for the movie and cautiously optimistic about the game.
@Candlejack:A super awesome game like that is something that exists only in the dream world that has monkey butlers.
/sighs and dreams of said world
@Defenestrated: correct me if im wrong but doesnt hulk more powerful as he gets more pissed, and im pretty sure he doesnt like some dude in a suit of armor hitting him, so i would have to agree thats impressive that anyone can go for very long against the hulk
@Defenestrated: for me it's more cautiously optimistic about the movie... Marvel Movies are so hit and miss and this is one that I simply can't handle not being good
I am excited too, this maybe the first movie lincese game I will be renting on day one. The movie is going to be this years transformers, the action movie of the summmma!
I think casting Robert Downey Jr. as a character notorious for his shenanigans and alcohol abuse was a great call. I think both the movie and game have a ton of potential, but the movie is only a waste of $9 if it disappoints.
@Defenestrated:
Well he did last about what 30 seconds. That's till the Hulk got his hands on him, then it was lights out! Is the "Ultimates version" a movie? Me needs to check out....
It`s good to see a variety of armors available for Iron Man to choose from. Iron Man`s modular nature demands a game that allows a fairly hefty degree of customizability.
BTW is there any Marvel character capable of beating the Hulk?
@Silverwolf:
Depending on how you take it there could several characters that could take the hulk out if they used their full power:
- Galatucus
- Silver Surfer
- Adam Warlock with Infinity Gauntlet
- Onslaught
@NES8bt: Yes, marvel movies are hit and very miss, but in this case I think casting Robert Downey Jr. is absolutely spot-on. The trailers have also been fantastic.
@Silverwolf: No, not a movie. A few years ago Marvel relaunched a lot of their main franchises in an updated, "edgier" format. The main title (The Ultimates) are just the Avengers. Think of it as an alternate universe where The Hulk an oversexed maniac, Captain America is kind of a dick, and Samuel L. Jackson is Nick Fury. Some of it is pretty meh, but there are some classic lines.
@Silverwolf: The Class 1000 characters like the Watcher, Galactus and the Silver Surfer -- anyone who can draw on power cosmic -- but that hardly seems fair.
Regular, title-carrying terrestrials, Thor, maybe. (Although Asgard is technically extra terrestrial). Although if we're talking the Dr. Blake Thor, in which he gets separated from the hammer, then no.
I'd also go with Molecule Man, but that almost seems unfair.
@Silverwolf: @exkon: @Defenestrated: Here's a fun link. Top 5 Hulk vs Thing fights
This game will sell Zillions!
@Owen Good: Neato link there. Poor thing, so outclassed that he needs strange plot devices just to stand a chance. That's alright though, since he's such a cutie.
Please be a good movie! Please be a decent game!
I would wager that Professor X could take out the Hulk, if he had to, assuming his mind isn't too animal.
And maybe Longshot. He's pretty lucky.
Longshot on the pure offshoot chance a meteor comes out of the sky and labotomizes the Hulk. The professor i believe has tried to calm/reach/knockout the hulk as he has so many others .. but when the hulks pissed.. you get nothing.
Really.. Namor and Black Bolt are the only 2 standard marvels that i could imagine even giving Hulk a hard time... and we all know how BB came out of that one.
I just want to say so .. That Ultimates Armor does indeed look cool like the ultimate iron man should... but seems way underpowered.
@tk.: Professor X failed to stop the hulk last time.
I have the exact same wallpaper right now! I just got the 12" figure too; Are we stoked or what?!?
I really like that Hulk Buster armor.Granted i dont know much about Iron Man or any of his suits but if this game is multi-player i might pick it up.
@Ra on the A-Team: single-player only
Preach on, Brother Fahey. Preach on. I feel ya. Iron Man best live up to all the hype...
From the way that Ultimates Iron Man armor looks in that picture it sure is doughy-looking.
I'm not sure, I'm sold on the movie, but the game still has me feeling a bit shifty. . .
@Mike Fahey: So when you say you have midnight tickets for your birthday, does that mean the release on May 2nd? Because that's my birthday too. Right on.
Are the armors more customizable? Seems like in the interest of balance all the armors are essentially the same power just slightly different specialties which is completely counter to many of the suits.
I mean you can make a case that Hulkbuster sacrifices speed for power, but it should still be more powerful overall than Stark's standard suit at the time. The Ultimate should be low end, given the overall feel of that universe, and of course the Marks should progressively be getting more powerful with the Extremis at the top.
I hope the armors are more customizable than seen.
In the interest of balance they appear to have completely missed the point on a lot of these armors. Like the Hulkbuster being basically the same as the others just with a focus on slugging than flying. Or that there isn't a steady progression in power from Mark 1 through Mark 3 and Extremis. And that the Ultimate should be a lower end suit.
Also, to the comics debate I would put good odds for Thor, Black Bolt, and Gladiator to defeat Hulk. Thor by the plot device hammer, Black Bolt by mountain crushing whispers (the Black Bolt that was defeated was a Skrull I believe, and apparently unwilling to use his powers to their fullest because of the nearby Inhuman city), and Gladiator by insane speed. Sentry too I guess, despite the ridiculousness of WWH.
