Who needs boring tumblers when you can prove to company exactly how geeky you are? Etsy seller saaio is offering these Zelda etched glass tumblers for $20 a pop. A little steep, but I'm a big fan of eclectic kitchenware sets. [via Wonderland]

Firat! I've never made a post like this!
It looks neat, but I wouldn't want to eat off it.
It'll go great with my set of Peanuts glasses!
I would definitely buy these except that my washer is very aggressive and all of my glasses' designs wear away after a few cycles.
But really cool stuff, of course.
Not to be an ass, but that glass really isn't all that nice. The entire design is a little off, almost amaturish. I love the concept however.
I guess at 20$ it isn't too bad...
@OMGLOLZ: Dead man typing.
looks cool but what in my kitchen would it go with???? pretty cool $20 thats kinda Iffy....
How long till they get sued by Nintendo?
Ewww...
It's imperfect, crude even. If they expect someone to pay money for it, it should at least be perfectly symmetrical.
Now I won't look like a dork when I drink strawberry Yoohoo.
@OMGLOLZ: Let's hope you never do again!
The idea is cool. But, my girlfriend's done glass etching before, and if this is anything like that (and it looks just like it), 20 bucks each is...sort of high pricing. Specially since as another poster mentioned, the designs a little off.
@OMGLOLZ:
Posting "first!" is an insta-ban offensive. You'll find out soon enough I'm sure. Also, how in the hell do you eat off of a shot glass?
@dead_red_eyes:
Argh, meant to say offense instead of offensive.
@Scazza: Agreed.
The image on the glass just seems asymmetrical and the glass itself doesn't seem to be leveled correctly on the bottom.
It's a good try and all though, but I don't think I would pay $20 for it.
@OMGLOLZ: i NEVER knew you could EAT out of a DRINKING cup.
@OMGLOLZ: ZOMG NO WAI! yea was nice knowing you
on a related note, very nice glass, i'm not exactly a zelda fan, but i'd get it. very stylish.
I'd get it. And drink from it. Since its a glass afterall..
Lon Lon Milk baby!
Why would anyone pay $20 for that? It's easily done yourself with a simple jar of etching cream, a fine-tip paintbrush, and a design. Seriously, this could be done in ~30 minutes.
My mom does this kind of stuff for Christmas presents almost every year... and honestly, her stencils look more precise and uniform.
20$ for that ??
*snort* rofl *snort*
@Moonshadow101: Indeed.
I'd buy one with Solid Snake on it :P Also, people, stop ban gloating. It's against the rules and catches you a ban sometimes as well.
@OMGLOLZ: If you're going to get banned, at least spell your offence correctly.
As said above, I rather like the concept, but it needs to be done a bit more professionally.
I like to think of mine as a warning, I never actually report anyone to be banned.
A disgrace...
@ggodo: Oops, that was supposed to be in response to Candlejack.
@Chissu: Ew, what would that even taste like?
Cool glass, but $20 is a bit too steep.
I'd just like a nice whiskey glass with a Triforce on it. Do they have those?
I could make something like that for much cheaper using the laser at my school.
That's neat. But $20 is a bit much too pay for something like that. It looks a bit crooked, or maybe that's just the camera angle causing it. =x I would pay maximum $5 for that
@Candlejack:
A lot of us "old guys" (and some of the young blood around here) know that if you post "first!", "old" or "not news" it earns you an insta-ban, and there's no arguing your way out of it really. Sometimes we feel the need to inform the nubs about this, that way when they make a second account ... they don't make the same exact mistake and perpetuate this whole stupid "first!" bullshit that seems to be ever so popular.
$20? No thanks, not even if the design was done right.
Maybe $10 if it was done right, I'd prefer a differently shaped glass though but I guess I'm just nit-picking now.
That is srsly gross/unprofessional looking. $20 for that is ridiculous.
if it was professinal 20 would be fine but this i'd pay....2 bucks.
@dead_red_eyes: No, I think you shouldn't respond to those people. Why? Because people with the intention to do that deserve a ban, even if they saw others doing it. They don't belong here. So if you ask me, just ignore them and let them have their ban. It only gets them the attention they want if you reply, which might not be beneficial to them as they'll be banned, but other people will think that they can wind others up by it.
@Candlejack: With intention to do that I meant posting "first" of course!
Welcome to the tags, kitchenware. Please, make yourself at home and enjoy yourself. :3
That's just horrible I'm afraid - I really can't stand the inaccuracy of it :/
oh, good. So I'm not crazy. Other people don't think it's worth money, either.
In fact, I'd say it's not worth the price of the original glass. That's student work.
In starship troopers there's a moral lesson wrapped in a hypothetical about apples and dough, and how they don't automatically get better by putting in 'work'.
I guess what I'm saying here is Heinlein rules.
hummm....not very skilled.
I tell you what. I get in touch with a friend of mine who does this professionally, and she could out do this several times over.
Am I Reading Kotaku?
@Candlejack: Well, I guess my thinking is that if we can hold them up as the bad example, we might get two or three of the others that haven't yet. These warnings could establish the rules for those who just arrived and may have an interesting opinion, so they know this is a relatively safe place to voice them.
@Amiash: Are you? Am I?
I don't know man, these things keep me up at night.
It's hideous and asking $20 for it is an insult.
I'll agree with most of the people here and say that glass isn't worth $20 bucks. It's not done terribly, but I'd expect a little more for $20 [insert joke about weak American currency here].
As well as the design (apart from being possibly lopsided, it's too busy), the glass itself looks a bit crap - did they start with the cheapest tumbler money can buy, or is it just that the bad photo makes it look generally unattractive?
I don't want to be mean, it's a good effort as a personal craft thing, but not good enough to sell IMO.
It would suck if it was Maggie Greene herself who is selling these, and shes gonna ban all our asses for being critical of the glass... *snicker*
@Scazza: She's not that cruel, I hope.
i'd pay 20 if they were shot glasses.
and if it was a set.
because shot glasses can look cheesy, without worry of them looking out of place, and the bad etching won't matter when a little tipsy.
and sets of things are always nice.
sorry about that the page went haywire! sorry wont happen again..
I'll echo the above - those don't look so good. That said, give me a set of rocks glasses with the Shadow of the Colossus glyph etched on the bottom and I'll take a dozen.
Neat,but I'm not that big a Zelda fan.Like someone said above,a set of shot glasses and I would purchase.
the real question: how many does he have to sell to pay for his infringement lawsuit?
Unless of course... it's officially licensed... in that case I'll shut up... *cough*...
$20 for a crooked Zelda etched glass?...
I could do better..
Cool concept but I wouldn't pay the 20 bucks for sloppy work. Not that I have any idea how difficult it is (or isn't) to do something like that, but I've hand drawn the same art a million times better.
such a rubbish :/
The concept is fine, but the fact that it is crooked makes it undeserving of 20$. If they just etched a simple triforce on there and made it look great!!, I would be more willing to part with 20$ for an extremely well done simple design than a poorly executed complicated one.
I mean, seriously, it looks like a fifth grader was making a cut-paste bricolage out of a Zelda picture and then glued in onto the glass for etching. EFFORT, PLEASE!
Blech.
O_O looks great!
@For_the_lulz: Kids, you've got it so damn lucky these days! When I was in school they didn't HAVE lasers just sitting around waiting to draw Donkey Kong on your spectacles or burn away that hastily considered done-it-yourself Frogger tattoo.
Nope, if you wanted to etch or set anything on fire, you had to use good ol' chemistry. Potassium sticks and nitric acid were a favourite, though not together... not twice anyway.
Lasers in school, pshaw! Is this what I pay taxes for?
Awesome. i will pay them extra for a Phantom Hourglass set of Shot Glasses.
[cgi.ebay.com]
I was just trying to post the image there ^^^^ SRY
@Scruffylookin13: From the link: "Great for Collectors, Nintendo Fans, or people who want to make Donkey Konga fun..."
Ouch.
@dead_red_eyes: Yeah leave the announcements if any be given to us.
Remember the more others talk about the "banned" the more unecessary comments fill up the comments section.
Looks a little too crooked to be worth the 20 clams.
If it comes with authentic Deku nuts, I'm so in.
Sloppy!!! Do not want!!!!
