Echocrome's out in Asia. Nowhere else. Which is kinda cooky, since the game (at least the Japanese edition) features an English voice-over. While there's still no word on when the game will be seeing an official (online-only) release in the US, a listing has appeared on the PlayStation UK site, saying it'll be "available on UMD for PSP and to download on PLAYSTATION 3 in May 2008". May's not that far away. It's next month, even!

This game is pretty fun. I played the Japanese Demo and it was good stuff. I can't imagine how much more difficult it will become as the levels I tried were as easy as making Oreo Cheesecake, which by the way is a great form of cheesecake. I guess i should go make some right now. Anybody want some?
when does this come out for the states again. I"m to lazy to find out.
Cool. Hopefully North America gets it in May too. I've been dieing to play this game.
@[KU]Shindokie: Wishes for a Star: I want some. Oh, and your reading comprehension must be off today.
So our friends across the "pond" will be getting a better deal than us Uniteds Americans. I am jealous, oh so very jealous i would love for a physical copy of the game.
@[KU]Shindokie: Wishes for a Star: Cheesecake would be lovely, can i get a digital copy please?
@GUNDAM-RX-78-2: I almost wish I could afford to buy multiples of the same system from different countries so I can get the region specific games.
@ceilingfanboy: LOL i'm no all that here. I'm watching my cousin play SOcom and i'm spacing out. BUt here's is some OReo Cheesecake
@GUNDAM-RX-78-2: And for you as well.
DOn't forget the whip cream.
To add back to the story. It seems this will be coming out next month. i can't wait for it :D
@[KU]Shindokie: Wishes for a Star: Damn, I was hoping you would actually send me a physical Oreo Cheesecake. I'm all for physical copies of things.
Anybody who has played the full Japanese version know if they followed through with allowing players to make their own levels and share them as a community? That was one of the touted features that really caught my attention because it could give the game infinite replay value.
Of course, the NA store is being run in its normally excellent fashion (with no announcement...). Thanks Grace Chen and company.
@male roof blower: The game is region specific? damn...
@[KU]Shindokie: Wishes for a Star: Mmmm whip creme... Here's the Kotaku post about Echochrome [kotaku.com]
@durrem: Are you talking about the PSN store update? Thats supposed to happen April 15th at least for Japan it is, I think its 17th for Europe so the Americas can expect it some time inbetween the two but thats just me blowin hot air.
this news also confirms the psn leaked list is true!!! [kotaku.com]
@GUNDAM-RX-78-2: Oh, no. I wasn't saying that Echochrome is region specific. My fault. Poor wording. But the UMD release of it is. No UMD version for the US.
The lack of UMD for NA is extremely irritating.
@TheLandmark: Umm, just because they're not releasing a UMD in America doesn't mean you can't buy it on UMD. The Japanese and European UMDs will play fine on any console.
@GUNDAM-RX-78-2: Like roof blower says, the game isn't region specific. If you make yourself a Japanese PSN account you can download the Echochrome demo (if you can find your way through all the Japanese!) The demo is really good, I'm loving the background music - a classical number definitely fits better than a headache inducing techno soundtrack would have. :)
Not only does the game feature English voice-overs but all the menus and in-game text is in English also.
It's odd that the game will be released on UMD in Europe and not in the US.
The game is not region locked i bought it off the hong kong store about 2 weeks ago and ive been playing it and it does get more difficult the further up you go the demo was just a hint of what was to come the last stage is a jumble of lines and holes and then theres the time limit of 4 min. per level and then of course you can make your own levels as well i dont know how long it would take to make one but staring at a solid white screen with a few black lines makes your eyes hurt after awhile
umm, luke? the word you're looking for is "kooky", not "cooky".
