For all the hate and bile often thrown at gaming, EA's Peter Moore says they're going to change the world. Make us happy, the world better, EA richer. Peter Moore believes in games. Taking a page from the Nintendo handbook, he says:
Games have a key role to play in health and wellness. People will be able to do things with games in their own houses that they just can't do at the gym. And it's not just about making yourself stronger and healthier but also smarter and happier.Games have the power to make people happy and to make the world a better place. And I do mean the world, because we are now opening up massive new markets like China and India that will bring billions of gamers.
And billions of dollars for EA.

Giving a little indirect props to Wii Fir Mr. Moore?
You still think he has those Tattoos? I always see him wear long sleeves.
I thought we gamers were stereotyped as fat an living in our parents basement. Now games are a key role in health and wellness? Does that mean were the starter kit for a new south beach diet?
Damn if only peter moore worked for microsoft still...Only Reggie is left
Gaming is the new fad. hah
Oh, side note, I like how Peter is sitting on his ass, all slouched playing a game.
How insightful! I hear that whole internet thing also can educate the masses. Who knew!
Sorry for the sarcasm, I just don't feel like he's saying anything we don't already know about games. Like many forms of media, they are a powerful tool that can help, and harm the masses.
sounds like someone is getting ready to release a wii-remote of their own eh? eeeh?
You mean.. games haven't already changed the world?

I'm sure the Mojave Desert would like to disagree..
They've already changed the world. Gaming is a multimillion dollar industry. People make their living doing writing, designing, all manner of things for games. Movies & books are made about games.
@ShirtGuyDom: **Wii Fit
Wow, took me long enough to notice that...
Come on Peter! You're so right!
I had a dream I met Peter Moore and he was impressed with my ideas. However, he was also upset at the fact I had a full head of hair.
Oh well.
@Losbullitt: Well, shit, what are these ideas of yours? Dish! This "head of hair" you speak of had better be damn impressive as well.
I will be happy if there are games like:
Street Fighter Dream match - That street fighter must have all characters (From all Capcom's Street Fighter games)no one will be leave behind, no need of story because is a dream match... plus it have to be 2D...Online play and available for the PS3, Xbox and Wii (Classic controller of course)
Remake of Capcom vs snk 2 ported for the Nintendo DS and PSP with online play for Local and Internet... Also, must have single card game download... That means that if your friend who have a PSP or DS, but not the game will be able to download it your DS or PSP.(Please Fanboys do not tell me that is Impossible)
But too bad.... Companies do not listen to us... They decided to get lazy and give us crappy games... At least there are some good games too... But too bad the ones I want might be impossible to happen...
Sorry I forgot to type Xbox360 LOL
I remember when Hideo was featured in a magazine, of the top 100 people that will change the world. Not game makers, PEOPLE in general. I thought that was pretty cool. I was like "Hey... it'd be cool if he really did help change the world." And then I heard about the real life nanomachine-codec system being developed, and that walking battle bot being developed by DARPA. And bricks were shat.
@YUYU: Oh, links for the non-believers: Codec system http://gizmodo.com/372839/embedded-phones-will-cure-what-ails-ya-says-father-of-cellphones Walking DARPA battle-bot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1czBcnX1Ww Bricks. Shat.
@YUYU: Very nice video YUYU... I believe it, but I never saw a video.... I only know one that someone drive it... but is a mechanic spider here is the link:

If EA had their way with the world, I have a feeling they might charge a nominal fee for every time you take a dump.
@cybereality: LOL good one!!!! and true!!!!
THERE WILL BE A SOCIAL REVOLUTION!
It used to be the Swingin' 60's.
But now..
Prepare for...
THE FRAGGIN' 21ST CENTURY!
[/lamest post ever]
It's ok Peter, you can say you love Wii because you don't work for Microsoft anymore. Just say it!
Uhm mister more ... mister more .. they already have...
@cybereality: With optional DLC corn.
Anything can change the world. The hard part is making them have a positive impact.
Will? Will? How about HAVE? Games HAVE change the world!
@MisterSleep:
I cannot tell you, lest I have them copyrighted so that when you go public with it, I'll demand you retract your statement or shave your head.
Or something.
Yeah.
@ShirtGuyDom: That's what I was thinking.
Is he in jail?
@Eltigro: He seems sleazy enough for it. Seriously, that guy has the phrase 'creepy sleaze-ball' written all over him.
And he's right; I have a physical disability thanks to a stupid deformed foot. Now I can play Skate and feel as though I'm accomplishing something with my l33t skillz at the flickt controls. It's the only way for me to experience real life sports. Thankyou, EA.
The 'world' would be a lot happier if they learnt how to price things fairly. Rock Band... grr...
I like how he holds the controller. I know what he's thinking.
"I don't need those damn triggers OR bumpers!"
