My consoles absolutely hate Ben Heck. Every time he releases a new mod, such as this gorgeous PlayStation 3 laptop, similar to his Xbox 360 Elite laptop from awhile back, I tend to spend many hours sitting in my living room, eyes moving curious from consoles to the cabinet where I keep my (barely used) tools. With my degree of electronics knowledge, this is the game console equivalent of having someone quietly staring first at you, and then at a loaded gun in front of them, over and over again. Luckily for them I've yet to work up the nerve, though I do have an extra PSone sitting around gathering dust. I think I just heard it whimper.

Now that is something I would actually pay a grand to possess, that is by FAR the sleekest mod I have seen the man make. DAMN if only someone would produce these things at a retail level. They would make SERIOUS money off of it.

I wonder how hot it runs, it looks great but the keyboard looks too small, could have fit a numeric keypad on there!

Do WANT. Much, much nicer-looking than any of his 360 laptops that I've seen; thats not a knock on those projects either, this is just on a whole other level. I wonder how much it weighs?

Does anyone know if he keeps the HDMIs on these things? Still though, this is incredible. Heck is just amazing.

@geoffcbassett: He's talking about somebody producing these and then selling them. The mod itself won't get you sued, but selling it will. Because then you're making money off of Sony's hardware.
That thing is HUEG. It must weigh a ton. Pretty hot, though.

If you could use the PS button in front of the keyboard as a trackpad, it makes a very usable laptop with Linux installed. Still, that thing kicks ass!

Gorgeous. Personally I'd rather experience Playstation 3 games via my current home set-up, but if I were possessed enough to crave a foray into the appetizing world of MGS4 while on the bus or at my girlfriend's house, I'd definitely be playing it on this. Or at least I would be if I had the technological expertise to build my own mod. Or the money required to purchase Ben Heck and put him to work converting all the game systems under my television into splashy laptops and other impractical devices.
That's one helluva way to void a warranty.

Nothing had made me want a PS3 before this but damn that's a gorgeous piece of hardware. Ditto with the 360 one.
So when can we expect a Macbook sized Wii adaption complete with clips to attach a Wiimote and Nunchuk tidily? The absolute ultimate in party gear, a Wii with a built in screen and sensor bar for people to play.

@munchausen: And, let me add for clarification, if even possible, it would be economically unviable to get the parts from someone else, as a PS3 itself would be the logical starting point for all the necessary parts.

Doesnt look like he has used that controler very often. I have an old snes controler that doesnt have half the dust as that thing.

awesome but it's missing the PS-EYE. The Elite laptop had Xbox vision, so that kinda sucks.
So is it just me or is that one filthy controller? The telltale sign of a true genius is the dirt he works around, or can you tell alot about a man by the cleanliness of his controller?
So wait, is the power supply built into the 360 one? I'd say that's more impressive than this thing by far.
