This is what I have been waiting for.

Only 2 things could prevent me, 1. if its not the speculated 80gig version with decent BC or 2. that it is excessivly overpriced.

Why make it VERY limited? Why make it limited at all? The Halo 3 360 was not limited and it didn't even come with all these goodies. Just take a 80GB, make it steel, throw in MGS4 and DS3 for $500 and watch them FLY!

Wow way to screw over early adopters Sony. First we had to deal with craptastic/lack of games for more than a year, now we have to deal with envy of latecomers getting a PS3 that doesn't smudge fingerprints a second after you wipe it down. Never buying a console until 3 years after it's released ever again. You and Microsoft both are fucking retarded. No wonder Nintendo is winning, at least they came out with candy colored Wii's at almost the same time as the regular ones.

@slomo788: The vast numbers of those Halo 360s left give the answer, these things appeal to a fairly limited market and it's easy (as Microsoft did) to overestimate the demand and have tons of them still sitting on the shelves. Most console packs are either a plain vanilla console with a game or produced in tiny numbers to avoid excesses. For bigger franchises like Zelda and Pokemon there might be enough to justify big prints but otherwise they'll go conservatively.

YEAH! That's means they will be shipping DS3s in that color over her as well!

I've heard manufacturers nail early adopters for many things, but this? Wow, dude. Just wow.

I'm really hoping they leave it to be the 40 gig model like in Japan, that way a lot of people will turn up their noses on it and it'll be easier for me to score one =)

idk all power to the people who buy these i'd do it but i got my 60gigs. which is now 160gig :-)

@Nobuyuki: The difference here is, this PS3 doesn't have MGS-themed colors (does that exist?) all over it, it's just a cool new color. Second, the Halo 3 360 didn't come with the game (how stupid), I'm pretty sure. In short, it was just overpriced.

Last time I checked, launch PS3s were the only ones with full backwards compatibility.

How many times are you taking your fingerprints on your PS3? The only place I touch mine is on the power and eject buttons, so fingerprinting isn't a problem.

I'd much rather buy an official Sony replacement shell (not that that would happen in the first place) and re-skin my 60 GB with that lovely gunmetal finish.

I just picked up a PS3, in my hands, yesterday. Man, that thing was heavy.

I might wait for the God of War 3 PS3. I love that franchise in a way I usually reserve for survival horror franchises. But, how long will I be waiting? And will the God of War 3 PS3 be blood red? If so, it would be worth the wait.

The problem is this if you're Sony. This is a specific color that not everyone will like. Glossy black and white are very mainstream while this matted gunmetal color won't appeal to everyone.

So in essence they have to allot a specific amount for this unique color. If not, then where should they stop? You can't just have a production line that's putting out millions of glossy black, white, and gunmetal consoles.

@slomo788: How about this: Gun-metal gray is the MGS-themed color. If I remember correctly, the Halo 3 360 was green with some lines. Not much different.

This isn't even a new color anyway. It's an MGS4 PS3.

@Soldrak: I'm so sick of early adopters complaining period. If you're an early adopter you should know better versions or cheaper versions will be available. BTW, with the 60GB PS3 early adopters BENEFITED because of full BC. FOr the first time I was glad to be an early adopter. You wanna complain, dont buy any electronics until 5 years or more after theyve been out.

Yep, this settles it. IF I can get my hands on it, I'm buying this one.

@ShirtGuyDom: I don't know man, gun-metal still looks more neutral than a console the same color as MC's suit. And my first comment was that they should introduce this as a new SKU, with a DS3 and the game, just like Motorstorm was bundled with the 80 GB before.

The Halo edition 360 didn't sell because it was just plain ugly. This is fact because the Halo edition XBox sold like hotcakes.

This is, IMO, the best looking PS3 model I've seen so far. I just wish I was more of an MGS fan*, so I could justify the purchase based on that.

Still, it just looks so damn good...quick, somebody give me some worth while Blu-Ray exclusives to help me justify putting money down on this! ;)

*Don't get me wrong, its a high quality series, there are just a lot of..."stylistic" things about the gameplay that make it not as appealing for me personally.
