Alrighty! Since none of you bastards (I repeat none) are willing to cosplay as airplanes, we're going to change up this contest. And giveaway another copy of Ace Combat 6 in the process. That's right, we're giving away two copies of Ace Combat 6 to the winner and the runner-up. New contest: Make a three dimensional airplane out of anything tangible, but paper. So you can't make CGI planes! And you can't draw them either! But, you can make them out of anything else as long as it's not paper. Rocks, clay, toothpicks, whatever! And remember, that means make and not build a plastic plane model you bought in the store. Send entries to kotakucontestATgmailDOTcom. Remember, we're giving away two copies of the game and INTERNET FAME.

I have to admit...
The cosplaying as an airplane wasn't one of Kotaku's better ideas.
So, its no longer cosplayish, d@mn i had a good idea and i was going to do it :/...
dammit, do you mean to tell me that I did all that work for nothing!? jk jk.
Maybe people are willing to cosplay as planes, but they're working so hard on their overly-elegant designs that they haven't finished yet.
I want to dress up still, and spend the rest of my day in it.
@TOCATL:
Feel free to send that in as well. We're still open to cosplay submissions!
Just watch: no one will submit anything to this thing either. And it'll have to be modified again:
"Just draw a plane. On construction paper. Using crayons."
And no one will submit yet again.
"Just say the word "plane" and email me telling me you did. The first one to email me wins!"
And no one submits.
Eventually they'll just have to give everyone who's registered on Kotaku a copy of Ace Combat 6.
How long do we have?
We have to jump through more hoops? Why not just pick two random people who comment here? I'm too busy cycling through Kotaku news and pretending to work on my essays. :D
I'd have totally loved to try to dress up as an aircraft, but really, the 11th is horribly close and I have two final projects due on Tuesday.
Is the due date still the 11th? I might have something I can do before then...
@Furysetzer: Heh, just like me pretending to work on my Microbiology. :D
@dowingba: It'll be like an episode of Celebrity Jeopardy.
"...please someone simply say, 'who is Bill Clinton?'"
But we'll be punished thoroughly in another contest with a heinous switch-'em-up, and it'll be like finding out on Christmas morning that the scrapbook kit you got is about the same size, shape, and heft as the Super Soaker you wanted.
You know, my original idea was to construct one out of feces, but then I realized I had Taco Bell for dinner. Curses.
Unfortunately, it seems that Ace Combat Six is yesterday's news. I think it's time for you guys to consider moving beyond that.
Pah, maybe focus on some of BN's future 360 releases instead of AC6? (Don't mean to snub or insult the marketing folks, but interest in the game really has taken a trip down the crapper, and efforts to perk that up isn't going to work out.)
Alright, done. Where do I collect my prize?
How about the game and the flightsticks? I'd consider dressing up my dog and cat in cardboard airplane outfits for that.
Damn, and my starcream costume would have been the winner i just know it!!!
Cosplay as an airplane, what the hell did you guys expect? And especially in a 4 day period.
@NKato:
i dont think this is to promote anything, this is simply saying "free AC6! compete if you want"
its free, FREE!!!!!!!!!
nothing to grip about.
wait for the next contest if this doesn't suite your fancy.
@TOCATL: Yeah, you should do it ... it would still be creating an airplane! :)
To think, if I had only gotten up the balls to put myself in some cardboard boxes and write "I am a plane" across my chest, I'd have a copy of AC6 in my hands right now...
JESUS CHRIST I JUST BOUGHT 300$ WORTH OF SILK AND CARDBOARD FOR MY MUSIC AND NOW IT'S NO LONGER COSPLAY?! DAMN YOU KOTAKU! DAMN YOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!
@Dakobah: I already own the game. :P Why would I want two more copies?
Well first of all does this contest of the game include any Idolm@ster skins?
If the answer is yes... I may be interested.
um remove "of the game" my bad lol
Jesus, how many copies of this game do you guys have? There seems to be a new Ace Combat 6 contest every couple weeks.
@jayntampa: If i cant send the cosplay pics i think i will do it in clay, i have some natural skills molding stuff in that material...
@TOCATL: Bash already said you could still cosplay.
My cosplay is in the mail...
My pedantic-sense is tingling!
That screenshot is from Ace Combat 5! Not Ace Combat 6!
It's not even from Ace Combat Zero either. Ace Combat Zero had the same castle, but it did not have snow.
What a fun mission that was.
Well, I took a picture of my "plane" with my camera phone, but I can't get it to transfer to my PC. Darn.
is there a minimum age, or location requirement for kotaku's contests?
I already own the game so it seems like a waste to try and put a bunch of effort into something that I can't get anything out of. Like someone else said, why are they trying to market something that's relatively old?
@jihadjoe343: Because I don't own it!
If it were on PS3, I'd have been all over this contest on the first mention.
@NKato:
ok you got me there :P
Ah! I got it. Basically, this "plane" is made a lamp (with the lampshade and light bulb removed), its power cord, two coat hangers, two pens, and iPod headphones:

How long did it take to make? 5 minutes. How long did it take to get the idea? Well, 10 minutes. Is it an abomination? Yes. Is it creative? I like to think so.
lol i'd be excited if i had an x360 to play the prize game on. but i don't. and i'd assume it'd be a bit hard to come up with a good looking cosplay airplane design. so a little patience might've payed off.
@jihadjoe343:
It would be different if it was for another platform now, but it's the old 360 version. It's a game from 2007 iirc... I'm unsure what the deal is myself.
@Mongoosekun: Well I doubt the Kotaku Krew just woke up one day and were like "hey let's give away copies of... Ace Combat 6!"
The point of this contest is to generate attention. Attention for Ace Combat 6. It's really simple.
@Dakobah: Free stuff is always good, so I wouldn't complain about it. I've been waiting for the price to drop on this game personally, but I think it is an attempt to promote the game seeing as there have been banners all over Kotaku for a while now trying to sell this particular game.
I threw a cardboard box over my nephew and glued on Wings... Wish I woulda sent it in before this was posted.
@dowingba:
That's not in dispute -- the question is 'why now?' not 'how come?'
You don't see normally new promotions for games that shipped the last holiday season ( Oct 2007 ) at this time of year. They normally start doing price cuts to move more units at this stage instead of contests. It leads one to wonder... did Atari market the title in the US? Phil might be giving Kotaku some ad dollars -- bless his heart. It's not a bad thing, but just very odd.
@ShirtGuyDom: somebody give this man a copy of Ace Combat 6.
I actually kinda wanted to do the cosplay thing, but I don't even have the console necessary for this game @_@
Also, is that the actual Shirtguydom of MT fame?
Here is my lame plane made from 300 leftover, free-standing pipette tips: [www.flickr.com]
I actually built a fully functioning plane that was solar powered. It could hold 6 passengers not including a pilot and navigator. But when I went to take a picture of it the battery in my camera died.
Oh well, there's always next contest.
Hmmm...I actually want a copy of this game. I don't know what to make a plane out of though...
I'd like to think that this helped kill the cosplay idea:
NWS NWS NWS
[kotaku.com]
[forums.somethingawful.com]
anyhow, does it have to be a fighter?
I might have participated if they threw the flight stick and throttle in there with the game. I don't have a 360, but if I got the game AND the incredibly awesome peripherals a 360 could be in my future.
If worse comes to worse I could just head down to Venice Beach and buy one of those planes made out of beer cans...
@klew: Damn! Competition! My only weakness!
Aww, I was hoping to see someone trying a Starscream cosplay or something similar to see if it counted.
