Sega has teamed up with Japanese clothes retailer to make, you guessed it, Sega Uniqlo shirts. There are Virtua Fighter, House of the Dead and Sonic shirts. I quite like that hedgehog one right up there. The shirts cost US ¥1,500 (US $14.63). Oh geez, just look at that exchange rate. So sad. The shirts though, they're pretty cool.

Wow, that Sonic one looks really cool. I just played through all the old Sonic game today too....maybe it's a sign
I want that sonic shirt. It screams "Ladies, I'm single"
What currency would US ¥ be exactly? >_>
lets just hope the sonic tshirt doesnt turn into a werewolf
I've been looking for some cheap T-Shirts recently. Haven't been able to find any good place that sells decent shirts cheap enough.
Not a fan of any of these. Sonic was a good game back in the day, but I don't think I'd wear a Sonic T-Shirt...maybe a Che-Mario one, though.
I'd get the Sonic one, but with my manboobs someone would just ask me what the fuck happened to my nipples.
No thanks, the only gaming shirt company I support is Meatbun!
@Jeff Paine: A penny.
I might just pick up that sonic one... hope they have it in my size :(
Poor Kage, he's got inverted knees.
I hate to say it, but i've seen better game shirts at Hot Topic than Kotaku. I'm sorry guys. But i'm still a big fan of the old "oregon trail" 'you got dysentary' shirt you can get on 80stees.com.
I know it's important to support the indie crowd... but sometimes.... i dunno.
Waaaah... I can't navigate through all the japanese...
Sure, google translating would be a godsend for me right now, but that always feels sketchy to me.
Too bad, those two Sonic shirts they have would go nicely in my closet
At first Sonic looked like a whale dwarfing a palm tree.
Either way people will laugh at me for wearing it.
Yeah, the US dollar had to take a nosedive right during my vacation in Japan. Thanks, crappy US economy!
I have to say I'm not impressed with Uniqlo's shirts. I saw them selling a shirt for my favorite anime series (a very, VERY old title) and it looked like crap. Made me more than a little sad.
i'll pass on this.
How do you think Japanese shirt sizes compare to US shirt sizes?
I wear small, but I'm thinking the Japanese sizing might be a bit smaller.
Oh jeeze, I hope I'm not being racist, but what do you think... really I want these shirts.
XXL... Yay. Wait. American Credit Card. Damn. Guess I'll wait for it on Ebay.
Nice, I'll be stenciling out a Sonic one for myself sometime.
These are cool, the gaming shirts in America really only represent half the population [the Nintendo kids] You can find "Down since 85" mario shirts at walmart, zelda shirts at hot topic, and NES shirts even at JC Penney
but us Sega folk have no luck..the Genesis was king back in the day, so why no love? Sonic, Ecco, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, Shining Force, Phantasy Star....lots of great characters to make shirts from
@Dabisu: I do believe that shirt sizing is fairly universal... S = S, XL = XL, etc...
Best of luck navigating that site.
is 14.63 expensive for a shirt or something?
i think thats actually 37 cents cheaper than buying a shirt at target.
@Dabisu: Might want to go a size larger, just to be safe. I'm a Medium in the US but all the shirts I bought in Japan were Large.
@Pheonix2og: Fairly, but all shirt companies have different standards on what "large" is, for example.
@Dabisu: I'm a XS/S in America, but usually a M here in Japan.
Will normal Uniqlo stores be carrying any of these, I wonder? The Sonic one I'm interested in is sold out in my size.
That Sonic one shown in the article looks rather cool, but the rest of them are kind of bland.
Bashcraft, as a "blogger" you owe it to the world to mention that the shirts all seem to come in only "Large" and "XX Large".
Uniqlo "Large" has actually been too big for me since before I started slimming and cutting my delicious human frame.
Really want a couple of those Sonic ones, though. Man. I'll buy them and save them for the day (months from now) when, at last, I start building my sumptuous muscles again.
Sonic shirt FTW. where can i order?
BTW, if anyone wants to navigate this site for me and buy me that blue sonic tee, i'll pay 20 american doll hairs. keep the change.
I have to say, I'm a little baffled by the exclusive sizing chart that's exclusive to the Sega shirts.
According to said chart, an XXL has a chest of about 60cm. That being said, most AmericanApparel shirts, which are known to run small and fitted, run at about 74-79cm for a the chest of a XXS shirt.
If I'm wrong, please correct me.
@Ichidou:
And for a certain friend of mine, she'd hope you were single, as she'd love you for the shirt.
There are geek girls, yknow.
Uniqlo isn't fashionable enough for the youngins to touch these Sega shirts!
Oh wait, I guess gaming in general isn't exactly fashionable either, unless you're posing for a PSP ad.
I was just planning on going to UniQlo to get some new pants today. SCORE!
I demand someone to buy me that Sonic T-shirt. NOW!
...Please?
@ハリセンボン: I'm in the process of ordering now, but it looks like they don't ship out of Japan. Can you confirm this?
Who needs the shirt? I have a Sonic hat that gets accolades on occasions where it would be proper to dress up silly.
I do like that Sonic shirt though. A little more subtlety and class than a blatant logo.
@molotovwars:
配送地域は日本国内のみうけたまわっており、海外への発送はうけたまわりかねます。
Pretty much says "We only ship within Japan, no shipping outside the country". You could try one of the intermediate services that buys things in Japan and ships them to you, but with shipping, fees, and the crappy exchange rate, it'd probably cost like $40 for a 1500 yen t-shirt. :/
That Sonic shirt is awesome in its simplicity. I mean, I still wouldn't be caught wearing it, but it's probably the closest thing to a game shirt I'd be willing to wear.
@Dabisu: In general I think US t-shirt sizes are one size larger than most other places (i.e. a US M is an everywhere-else L). Don't quote me on that though, as others have noted it probably varies a lot more between manufacturers...
@ph15h: Credit cards are universal???
Whats up with the complaint about 15 dollars? thats flipping cheap for a licensed shirt.
I just want them to make a nice orange shirt with "ビ-ト" a la Jet Set(Grind) Radio...
def. cool, but i think the closest Uniqlo to me is in NY (im in jersey), so i guess i gotta do a weekend trip. last time i went for the amano shirt and i remember the biggest size they had was S haha, luckily i could fit into it.
Well, I contacted a friend in Japan and sent her on a mission. Hopefully I'll have my sonic shirt soon enough.
Man, I am LOVING the classic Akira and Jacky shirts, we definitely need more VF love here in the states... Now if only I could order one... :(
Ichidou said: I want that sonic shirt. It screams "Ladies, I'm single"
I want that sonic shirt. It screams "I'm married so I can where whatever I want, without fear of being shunned by the ladies."
They have Uniqlo in Manhattan.Maybe I will get the Zombie Shirt.
