Citing "sources", British site CVG are reporting that a PSP version of Sony's free-form platformer LittleBigPlanet is currently in development at Sony Studio Liverpool. Sony are obviously keeping quiet on the subject, but with the PS3 and PSP growing more and more interconnected via things like remote play, the possibility of a portable version of LBP that could "talk" to a PS3 version of the game isn't the most outrageous rumour I've heard this week.

Awesome, please be true!
How about instead of dividing their resources they just bring the damn game out already! Seriously, I want this game now.
Remote play via the PS3,not a whole new copy on umd.
OH COME ON !!
Like if we were not enough thrilled about this game.
I was secretly dreaming about something like this with the PSP.
Dear Gods of Kobol, please make it happen O_O'
Just having the level editor on the go would be amazing.
@kyosuke9999:
Well it's in September just like the rest of the release schedule.Bring a big wallet that month.
Hey, why not? The core game seems simple enough that you could do it on the PSP. I could easily see a 2D stagebuilder a la Mega Man Powered Up being done portably on the PSP, only to transfer the stage to the PS3 later on to flesh it out or just play it with better graphics.
Now I'm reminded of how much it sucks that there's no Mega Man Powered Up 2. Gimmeee!
@enewtabie: At least for us in Europe its all ok, we just managed to save 240 euros from rock band.
Thank You EA.
@kyosuke9999: liverpool is a different studio than the one working on the ps3 version
Remote play and im all yours. I love my PSP to PS3 connectivity to much. Its terrible.
Why not? It's a waste if they don't put in added functionality, at least optionally.
@kyosuke9999: How about instead of dividing their resources they just bring the damn game out already!
Studio Liverpool != Media Molecule.
Seriously, I'm all for this. But I have no idea how it would work without a right analogue stick.
@enewtabie & ryivanV2: I'd also love for the PS3 version to work over remote play.
glad to hear it's a farm job... it's less likely the ps3 version will get dumbed down under these circumstances.
if so than bring us a Wii version please (yeah i know it wont happen but i can dream cant i)
Getting a PSP version would hinge on us getting a PS3 version, which at this point is looking less and less likely.
PLEASE let this be true, I hope it is just a remote play version though. That way I could create things at work and then go home to play them...LBP will be awesome.
If that happens, it might just convince me to get a PSP.
Just enabling Remote Play would be good enough for me.
That said, I'm still not convinced this is the next big thing. Lots of hype.
YES! As a soon-to-be 2hr commuter, this could be the best news I've heard in a while. If the rumored PSP version includes complete community features for sharing custom built levels, I'll just quit my new job entirely and become a full-time LittleBigPerson.
If they do it on psp, for sure 500% i buy it
Sony here's a rumor can be debunked......
people wanted this game yesterday. so please drop the ps3 version first. give us psp feature later on, thank you.
sincerely,
10.5 Million PS3 users
@zanzibarlegend: Working on a PSP version is the best way for them to make up the developement costs. You don't think all 10.5 million PS3 owners are going to buy this, do you? If it cracks 2 million sales in a year, it will be a act of god.
@LosMerengues: Please don't. I rather see it stay on ps3 soley because of the graphics. There gonna look terrible. You know compared to...
Do want, kkthxplz
@TheTime: Since when was this game ever about graphics?!
YESYESYES i hope this is true. I know the graphics are going to take a hit, but if they can maintain the aesthetic, and still allow for the customization, i'd me one happy camper. I still don't have a PS3, and this game was the only thing nagging at me to get one. OMGBBQ I hope its true! (that rhymes)
I guess due to the limitations of the PSP this will be named Little Big Planet: Big Little Planet.
So long as they don't delay the release of the PS3 version by dividing their team/resources, or purposefully delaying it to coincide with the PSP release or capability, I don't see a problem with it. But if they delay it in order to do either of the two previously mentioned things, Sony will reclaim the "Stupid Business Decision" award of the year.
Wow....that actually makes a hell of a lot of sense if it's true. I dont think there could possibly be a better game to make use of the PSP's functionality than LBP....make a level when you're away from PS3 and play it when you get home. Sounds interesting
What's the status on LBP? I saw someone mention it's due in Sept. Is it still going to be a downloadable game, or a disc release, or dual like Warhawk? I've also heard lot of fluff about the price, is there any kind of word/rumour/consensus on that yet?
@Mavwick: On the go level editor would definitely encourage me to try my hand at levels.
I would suspect that many of the community features would be enabled through PSP as well, level voting, comments, level browsing, downloading, etc.
Crossplatform play would be interesting but not sure how well it would work.
Good. Now i don't have to buy a PS3.
I mean, i'm no millionaire or anything.
I think it is Craftworld. Because N'Gai Croal was talking about that game and that it might come out on the PSP. But may be Sony changed there minds and thought to bring out LBP instead.
@XWonka:
I can pretty much guarantee any version that shows up on the PSP will pale in comparison to the one on the PS3. You can get a PS3 for 299 and no taxes (using Sony's credit card offer), no millions needed :)
@BlackIceJoe:
Craftworld is the same as LBP. They changed the name.
Media Molecule have an upper limit on the people they want working for their company. The PS3 game is being made by Media Molecule in Guildford but produced out of External Development in Sony Liverpool.
I guess the internal Wipeout Pure team in Liverpool have been moved to LBP PSP. Both titles fit under the same management structure.
Bah, the faster the PS3 version is out the better, forget this version...
Unless, of course, there's cross platform online play.
YES PLEASE!
Of course PSP version won't be as nice as the PS3 version, but the only game that really got my attention so far on the PS3 was Little Big Planet... and I'm not willing to pay that much for a single game only.
And I already got a PSP... so...
I'm not too sure but I remember reading or seeing something were they told us that a PSP version could be in the works
THE AWESOME POWER OF THE PS3 Available on your PSP... hmmm. Anyways if they are doing this then I wonder if it rules out remote play functionality on the PSP; It would... wouldn't you think?
If they pull off the user community (in-game and on-line) and offer interoperability between the PSP content and the PS3 content then they can have something so amazing that it may just steal what ever thunder PS HOME may have. As other projects Sony is doing, this seems very ambitious and their massive potential for success is almost balanced with the massive danger of failure. For what it's worth (from a hater) I really do which them luck and success because the whole industry will benefit. But they need to take more baby steps in my opinion.
They should put it out for PSP, it won't sell well on the PS3.
@LittleBigPlaneteer: Yeah, you're right. But a PS3 isn't really worthy of my expendable income as a poor-ass college kid. I barely have enough for microwavable Mac-and-chee. So anything "little big planet" that i can play is much appreciated.
I'll get a PS3.... but not soon.
how amazing would that be?
lots of interconnecting features would be AWEEEEESOME.
good, then I can buy it since I don't have a ps3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
