Quit rubbing your eyes, kid, this is real! EA have formally, officially and properly announced that Rock Band will be launching in Europe on May 23. The catch? As was pretty much already surmised, it's only appearing on 360, with the PS3, Wii and PS2 versions only vaguely scheduled for "Summer". No official price as of yet (I imagine they'll want to break that probably-awful news gently) OK, we do have pricing, and it takes the piss. Songs will be 160 MS points each, and all downloadable songs currently available in the US will be available from launch, along with nine bonus Euro-specific tracks. Oh, and starting May 27, all new DLC will be simultaneously available in both the US and European stores. Click through for the list of European-exclusive songs:
* "Beetlebum" by Blur
* "Rock 'n' Roll Star" by Oasis
* "Monsoon" by Tokio Hotel
* "Hysteria" by Muse
* "Hier Kommt Alex" by Die Toten Hosen
* "Perfekte Welle" by Juli
* "Countdown to Insanity" by H-Block X
* "Manu Chao" by Les Wampas
* "New Wave" by Playmo

Fir... Ah Almost got me! ^_^ I kid I kid. This is good news now we will get a Zero punctuation clip HORRAY!
Well thats good that they are finally getting a piece of the pie. I hope they don't go through the problems that a lot of people went through with the broken guitars and drum pedal. I wish we got some extra songs for free. :/. Ohh well I'll just have to wait for the portal song. Only 1 more week.
Wow...finally #I know when to get my own copy of this :D
Wow...finally!!!!
Finally, can't wait to get my hands on this one...
You can get the Stll Alive if you have an US-Acc for Xbox-Live. I downloaded it already ;)
After seeing that video I would love to jump around like that guy and try to sing that song.

YESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYES!
Happy birthday to MEEEEEEEE!
hint to europeans...
Buy game alone, then buy drums on ebay, then use guitar hero guitars and any old usb mike or headset for the 360...
reasoning:
1. Prices for standalone pieces are cheaper on ebay in the US now that demand has been met
2. Rock Band guitar blows. We fight over who has to use it.
3. Mike is unnecessary
another hint:
buy metallica pack
Given that the 360 only news was correct, I'm also assuming the ridiculous price point news is too. Rock Band looks cool, but given that I could get THREE full-price games for that kind of moolah, and given that most of the stuff I want to play is pay-to-play, I think I'll give this one a pass. Maybe in the future when it's not a total ass-shafting and maybe when they bring it out for a platform I actually use, I'll look at giving them my money.

@Lot Krotan: You're kidding, right? The Fender is AWESOME. Frets are less fatiguing than the LP, the upper frets can still be used in regular gameplay (they just need strumming) which makes life easier for expert players, and it just feels heftier.
Not that I don't like or appreciate the LP, but for the fact that my replacement's neck just started having contact problems--and it's an off-the-shelf one.
@LoopyChew:
You're one of the first people I've seen say that. From first timers, to expert players, no one likes using the rock band guitar around here. It doesn't click when you strum, and when you have to alternate pick, it feels like it's going to break at any minute. Not to mention the star power (err overdrive) doesn't work as well as on the other guitars. I'll see my friends trying to deploy it 3 or 4 times before it goes.
This isn't just from a group of 4 friends, I have co workers, dorm mates, class mates, and strangers over to play all the time, and everytime it's the same.
then again, they're fighting for an explorer, not a Les Paul.
The saving begins; my final exams in Uni end on the 20th... Fate it would seem...
Hurah! I await the official price like a sniper round in the crotch though...
This may seem obvious but does this include Ozland? As we are PAL but not euro.
Must... create... European... account...
How about an Australian date too?
I have a horrible feeling that somehow not all PAL territories are going to get this at the same time.
EA and Harmonix can take it and shove it up their...
It's a fucking joke to wait that long for this game!
Oh and many thanks to MS for prolonging it even more!
@Lot Krotan: Everyone I know hates it at first (because change is awful mirite) but after using it a while they end up prefering it.
I hope the Euro exclusive shit comes out in the US eventually, because I will kill somebody for a chance to play Hysteria.
I hope they're not charging us 170€ for this...
Harmonix: those European-exclusive songs better be available as DLC for the rest of us!
Maybe there will be more English-French/German language songs coming as DLC to cater to the European Market.
I can think of a couple possibilities off the top of my head:
-Psycho Killer by The Talking Heads
-(Si Si) Je Suis Un Rock Star by Bill Wyman
@XbhaskarX: Lemming To The Sea: you guys need to read the article
@nolifedopestar (PSN: noliferuin): oh sorry my mistake, i'm reading the news elsewhere and it said they will be
@Lot Krotan: The Xplorer is garbage compared to the Rock Band Fender.
On the Off-chance that someone from Activision or a retailer is on these forums:
Is it confirmed that there is one multi-language pack for all of Europe? I live in Germany and I really don't like German-language software.
So I need to know if I can buy it locally (multi-language version) or import it from the UK
@thinlebowski: Activision? I hope you do mean Harmonix. It's going to be one language as well. I hear you can import it form the US. Flynn made a post a bout it but I'm tired and to lazy to look for it. Hopefully somone can post it for you.
@mrghost:
your opinion, I'm just trying to save some people some money. Used Guitar Hero 2 controller costs less than used Rock Band controller.
@Garo:
How did Microsoft prolong the release in Europe? According to the article, there console is the only one ready to receive it.
See, I was really hoping that as an apology for the delay and to compensate for the inevitably ridiculous price we'll be paying, they'd give us all the currently released DLC on the disc.
No such luck there...
Can anyone tell me how much it'd cost in MS Points to buy all the currently released songs? I'm sure I could find it somewhere, but... y'know... lazy and all that...
Oh thanks for giving us just over a month to scrape together whatever high price you'll ask for it EA.
I'm just glad that games like this and Brawl (i.e. games that I am not interested in) are the ones to have these ridiculous delays and not something I actually give a shit about, like GTA IV.
Also, you can guarantee that this won't be priced anything like it was in the US. If the make this the equivalent of $170 (so that'd be £86 or €107) then I'll eat my hat. How much is Guitar Hero III with the guitar in the US? It's £70 here. I'm sure it's not $135 over there, right?
[www.bestbuy.com]
$100, so not too far off.
@thinlebowski: Yeah you know what EA might do. They might FORCE you into playing the game in your own language.
The horror of the worst.voiceacting.ever. in black and white still haunts me to this day.
It's great that finally gave it a release date.
but they could have at least given a reason for the delay...
@duckmouth: Dude you guys really get screwed. it's 80 euro here.
Something that isn't mentioned (at least, I don't see it mentioned...) is whether we'll be paying to download these euro exclusive songs, or whether they'll be on the disc?
Apologies if my reading comprehension has failed me...
@Lot Krotan: Hmm, I would call 35% quite a ways off...
I wish I double checked before posting sometimes... *facepalm*
sweet. ive been waiting for this news all year!
@Lot Krotan:
They paid a seven digit sum to get a timed exclusive for Europe and therefore screwed PS3 owners for a title that was a nonexclusive in the US. Kinda desperate isn't it?
@Lot Krotan: I prefer the clickless strumming, and I plan on stress-testing my own Fender when I get it (I was playing on my little brother's copy when I visited the US, and he had just gotten his RMA and told me he didn't want me to break that one, so I played delicately) so I can see how much it'll take before things go haywire.
I found the GH guitars' tilt sensors a little oversensitive, but that's probably because I love rocking out like crazy, or occasionally moving my left arm.
We're one of a rarefied few who did like the X-Plorer, it sounds like. Those buttons were nice and easy, if a bit small.
how is it that the ps3 version isn't ready? it's literally the same game as the us version. they just localize at the same rate as the 360 (there is no lead platform for localization) and its done.
ps2 and wii are different versions so thats different.
Good news is that it's coming to Europe.
The bad new is that it is only coming for 360 on time and ONLY IN GERMANY, FRANCE and UK. It's great to live in Scandinavia.
o and the fender owns except for the strum bar.
@Garo: and you're getting this info. from where exactly?
it's published by ea, they hate exclusives. it's probably got more to do with supply problems, so they release it on what is/was arguabley the leading platform first.
I'd love to get Hysteria over in the US.
@duckmouth: But does the Euro price include the VAT thingy? If not, then depending on which US state you live in, there may end up with only ~ $10/$15 price difference. In some states, the sales tax is upwards of 10%.
@Garo:
I'm not so sure it's true... giving that in the past, MS's timed exclusives have been six months, that'd let Sony release it just before Christmas, no? Wouldn't that be a much better time to release this game?
Perhaps... Sony paid EA to delay the game even further! *faux shock*
Mmm... Muse, Oasis and Pleymo. Tasty
