Job listings for the 2K Marin-led sequel to BioShock hint rather heavily that the sequel (prequel?) will be coming to more than just the Xbox 360 and PC. The team at 2K are looking for a Senior Designer, noting that "Playstation3 experience is required." Also preferred? Unreal Engine 3 experience. BioShock 2 was officially announced last month with a pre-holiday 2009 release date, giving us plenty of time for rumor, speculation and console fanboy pissing matches.
Also noteworthy is that the multiple open job listings for BioShock 2 positions specify PlayStation 3, Xbox, and Wii as the intended platforms. I just hope they call it BioShock Too, because that's a funny and lighthearted way to name your sequel and the first one was sort of depressing. Who's with me?!

What about the PC
@Kyle81: "will be coming to more than just the Xbox 360 and **PC**"
BioShock 2: Electric Boogaloo?
I'm with you. Also, give me BioShock on the PS3. The sequel/prequel I mean. I played the original.
Needs a big daddy and little sister tea party mini game!
Hmm... I wonder how easy it would be to take the 360/PS3/PC assests and lower the detail for Wii...
If the controls are as good as Metroid Prime 3's (and I heard Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 did FPS-on-Wii right, too), then I may check out the Wii version (If I don't get a 360/PS3/better PC by then, at least).
Calling bullshit on this. Unless EA actually buys Take-Two, this'll probably stay on the 360/PC. The Wii doesn't have the graphical horsepower (though I'd like to see the control scheme done right) and the PS3 can be victim to some lazy-ass ports.
Bioshock Wii: Play as the Big Daddy and control your drill with the wiimote!
It was just a matter of time before BioShock would come to PS3. If it sells and it ain't nailed down to the floor, it's getting ported.
Exclusives like MGS and Halo are a dying breed.
I don't see why this would surprise anyone. Unless a developer is receiving money up front from MS/Sony/Nintendo to make the proposed game platform-exclusive, it would be stupid for them to NOT at least plan for a release on all applicable platforms, and therefore hire people with experience on those platforms. That's just good business.
This makes we want to play Bioshock again. Maybe when we're closer to release?
I think it should be called "Bioshock: TO the past" so the TO implies a sequel in an interesting way and "the past" implies a prequel. Also, it would confuse the consumer.
@blackadvent: Yeah, I'd rather they don't make me hate an apparently marvelous title by butching a port for PS3.
@blackadvent: The magic of downscaling graphics. PC's doing it now since the 80's
I was hoping for Bioshock Also, but Bioshock Too works.
I wouldn't be surprised to see it on the PS3, the system should have a large enough base to make it worthwhile.
@blackadvent: Just because the PS3 CAN be a victim of lazy ass ports doesn't mean that they are going to avoid the platform as a result. That's really not how it works.
As far as the Wii goes, I don't call bullshit as much as just unlikely due to Nintendo's weakness with third party development. If they do it for the Wii it will not even be worth anyone's time.
@Candlejack: Oh yeah, sweet Bioshock on my PS3
Hoooray!!!! Bioshock PS3 the only problem with the first one was the platform selection!
I think it should be BioShock 2: Now even BioShockier.
Seems more likely that they would want to hire people with PS3 experience for projects beyond Bioshock 2. I Can't imagine that they hire lead designers for single projects.
I'm pretty sure MS will try and lock this one and announce it at E3.
I dream of days when there'll be a sequel post without the [Title] 2: Electric Boogaloo response.
However, I could really care less about which console this goes to, because honestly I'm not expecting anything too great here.
Ha. This is just business. A little leak to get Microsoft to back the money truck up. Bioshock: The Search For Curly's Gold ain't goin' nowhere.
Bioshock Beginings was what I had my head.
Is Wii even capable of handling the first BioShock? Because it seems like the sequel would have to look just as good as, if not better than, the original. I don't see how it can be on Wii.
How well it scales down I'd imagine is based more upon how much time they want to put into it to make it on the Wii, or, how well the engine it's built on can adapt to whatever hardware it's got to work with. I'm sure that in the development phase, they could easily make sure the game itself scales down well enough to be worth making it, and worth playing, it's just up to them to actually DO that.
As for me, well... I'll never hold my breath waiting to see that outcome, not a big fan of suicide.
"BioShock Tooie."
i hope it stays on 360/pc.. microsoft won't lose an AAA exclusive to the competition..
@mrplow8: I think if the Wii is really pushed then it can produce some not-that-bad grafix for any possible Bioshock on it. The problem is that nobody's really pushed the Wii super-hard yet.
Yay rumors! Nothing wrong with multiplatform, unless one version is terrible.
I would have thought that they'd have ported Bioshock to the PS3 before the se/prequel.
And the Wii edition will just be that pipe minigame.
im not big on bioshock but i would love to see it come to ps3 but still stay with 360
@Lemming To The Sea: Sorry but it's mandatory.
Bioshock XL
After some quick searching on Kotaku, I found the 1st time this 2K Marin and PS3 info was posted.

I think this just might be a reality. I so hope that they put BioShock in some form on the PS3.

@TalAarahk: No matter if it could manage the effects, you'd still be locked in 480p and no more.
@henri1kk: This has little or nothing to do with MS, not unless they start rolling out the cash. If they had an exclusivity deal then it would be different.
I don't want this game on so many consoles, also can't see Microsoft wanting it's competition to get their hands on it either. If it's on so many consoles I don't feel like the love will still be there for the game, I feel like they will just hurry to finish all of them. Don't do it, please.
@Candlejack: That's not a big deal for the Wii really. I know that when I play Wii I'm not gonna get HD and I've accepted that. If Bioshock came to wii I would get it for the controls which is the point of Wii ports. I have my other consoles for 1080p.
What about the pc!! Its an fps it belongs on the pc!!
@snakepliskin: Read the story, no?
@metadae: Will it have Van Dam?
@blackadvent:
The Unreal 3 engine runs wonderfully on PS3. As such, there`s much less porting work to do with it compared to most any other game. For all intents and purposes, if they really wanted to they could release it as an extremely elaborate mod for UT3.
1) PS3 is gaining market share. Ports will be common, including higher quality ones.
2) Stop with this "ON THE WII!" stuff. It ain't gonna happen for every game out there. It just doesn't have the horsepower.
@Ryumeka: THey can't port Bioshock 1 to the PS3... MS has exclusivity on the first game. The sequal is up for grabs...
And all I can say is "Halleluyah!"
Bioshock is one of the games that have nearly been driving me to a 360. *crosses fingers for Gears 3*
@metadae: Yes, it is. Even one of the Pokemon manga was called "Pikachu: Electric Boogaloo" in the US... A movie that no one will remember leaves it's legacy in the name no one can forget.
@henri1kk: I understand the health of the platform and all but I don't see this going multi-platform hurting anyone.
With the PS3 picking up some serious momentum against the 360 (including the fact that the price cuts in europe for the 360 have been a complete and utter failure in filling the gap in weekly sales and popularity between the two consoles), I'm absolutely not surprise.
@TalAarahk: agreed. I'm still waiting for the same type of push for Wii that Capcom gave the Gamecube. Not to say that there hasn't been pretty games though (MP3, SMG, etc.)
It would be nice if they did make a Wii version. The controls would be better and I'm tired of Wii missing out on all the good multi platform 3rd party games.
We don't need lame repetitive gameplay and dull storylines on our console(s) k thx
Cool, I hope this turns out to be true. By the time it lands in holiday 2009 the PS3 will most likely have a larger install base so it only makes sense financially. But the Wii as well? That's mighty strange. Graphics would have to be watered down quite a bit...
'Bioshock Again'
@Koztah: Two problems with that much discussed (including by me, before I knew the truth) "option":
1. I may be wrong, but I don't think it's possible to string levels together in mods... You'd have to install one large 9 gig level mod, and frankly that's just insane... The larger maps, at 30 MEGS or so, already take a long time to install...
2. No custom sound effects... Unless that changed in the last UT3 update (hope it did, I'd love to start making maps with stuff that talks...)
